AIBU?

… to want to ban fucking ‘clicky link’

I’m sure you’ve all used the internet before. You may even be using it as you read this! You know how links work. The text in blue is meant to be the title or even a very short summary of the thing you’re linking. It’s like putting the coffee in a jar labelled ‘jar’ instead of ‘coffee’ and it makes you look extraordinarily, cringeworthily stupid.

SouthernComfort Still can't do it. I'm pasting the link, then typing what I want to call it, with no spaces...should I have brackets? Thank you for trying to help me.

It is nice though when posters have trouble doing a link for other posters doing a clicky link.

Yes. It's nice to be nice.

Have you considered chilling TF out OP?

To do the fancy word link you type...
[[ww.link.here gin] ] without the space in between the last 2 square brackets, you will just get 'gin' as a hyperlink.

It is nice though when posters have trouble doing a link for other posters doing a clicky link. Be fair Op many of us only had the internet half way through our lives.

Gin - link then space then your title but remove the spaces before and after brackets.

I actually don't like it when the link is hidden, on my phone I can't preview what it is, and it could be something really horrible disguised as something else.

I also only see it where the OP has posted an URL that you can’t click through but need to copy and paste, so the second poster has helpfully posted the same link in a clickable form. “Clicky” here being an informal synonym for “functional”.

Why would you object to that?

Report
ALargeGinPlease · 21/03/2019 22:30

I still don't know how people make the URL into a word. If I ever added a(clicky) link, it would just be a copy and paste from Google. I see some people have managed to rename it to something short and relevant. I've seen people trying to explain it on other threads, but I still don't know how to do it... If anyone could explain it clearly to me, that would be great,

The phrase ‘clicky link’ gives me the rage - it’s so cutesy and annoying.
