AIBU?

I saw this today on Facebook.

One of the self styled paedophile hunters who track down potential groomers online has listed his job description as paedophile hunter when registering his new babies birth. He posted a photo of that section on the BC to show that he'd done it.

AIBU to say this is bloody ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed?

Plenty of instances of people who claim to be oh so anti something, like the hunters, turning out to be perpetrators themselves

Maybe insert hunters comment as I have Dramatical, honestly, the PP agrees with you, just said it differently.

Don't believe the OP is telling the truth here either and also can't bloody stand these stupid hunters, they do ruin lives, and should leave detective work to the police!

Dramatical the other poster is saying that the hunters are the 'anti something' people - in that they are loudly anti paedophile in what they say and do, and it makes her weary of them. She tried to explain, don't be deliberately obtuse!

Dramatical, she is saying the vigilantes are “oh so anti” paedophiles. They protest so loudly against paedophiles that they seem a little bit too fixated on paedophilia.

Me thinks Dramatical protests too much... maybe they’re a paedophile hunter hunter

@Dramatical

Yep, you and the poster you are referring to are saying the same thing.

You are both, quite rightly in my view, suspicious of these vigilante groups and both, to an extent, think that those groups are 'protesting too much' (mangled Shakespeare quote) and are possibly actually perpetrators themselves.

Goodness me Dramatical, you’re very confused 😂

Sorry. I just didn't get it.

I really wasn't. I didn't see it to say that. Someone else tried to explain I think, not the same poster, not that it matters, but I wasn't being obtuse I wasn't reading it that same that's all.

I am (was?). It's not really funny though. I just didn't understand the post that's all.

Dramatical this might help. As a PP said, quote marks would have made it clearer.

Wasp! Grin

Apparently there is a job title "Scrum Master" (you can get a certificate in it and everything). I'd like to see that on a Birth Certificate although I think the Duchess of Cambridge topped everyone with her "Princess of the United Kingdom" entry.

But yeah, I can't imagine a decent registrar letting Paedophile Hunter through.

There isn't much dramatic about me not understanding a post.

My exh was unemployed when we got married but as he did a lot of cycling the registrar put down he was a professional sportsman!

Paedophile Hunter is just ick. Making it all about himself. It's not his birth certificate it belongs to his child.

Thanks to the posters who helped me read it the right way. I do see it now 🤦🏻‍♀️

As for the posters using me as a source of amusement; at least I'm not the only stupid person on the thread.

Aww no, Dramatical, I didn’t mean to offend you. Was trying (and failing) to use humour.

Thanks for calling me stupid though Grin

Reminds me of the ignorant twats who victimised and terrorised a paediatric specialist because they didn't know the difference between a paediatric and a paedophile.

If they had half a brain cell between them, they'd be dangerous.

I truly believe this is a wind up. I cannot see the registrar putting that on a birth certificate

People were just being light-hearted/jokey to acknowledge and show that it’s fine that you misunderstood. Now you’re sadfacing and saying they’re being stupid? For god’s sake.

I began this by trying to reassure you that nobody was in fact calling you a paedophile. I was trying to help.

There's irony for you. Talking about ignorance and you're repeating the oft-told myth about something that never happened.
