AIBU?

Father lists his job description as paedophile hunter when registering his babies birth

I saw this today on Facebook.

One of the self styled paedophile hunters who track down potential groomers online has listed his job description as paedophile hunter when registering his new babies birth. He posted a photo of that section on the BC to show that he'd done it.

AIBU to say this is bloody ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed?

think the pp you quoted is actually saying pretty much the same as you - not suggesting you are a paedophile if you object to these vigilante groups.

Erm, i don't think so. Certainly if they think the same as me they have written the complete opposite.

I saw an interview with John Cleese where he was disappointed he is only 6'5" because if he was 6'6" he could officially list "Giant" as his occupation on his passport (when passports had occupations)

I rather like this one ……

@dramatical they feel the same as you, just didn’t express it very well

They said
I always get a shudder of he who protest too much at these self styled vigilantes

But, probably should have used quotes:
I always get a shudder of “he who protest too much” [about] these self styled vigilantes

Sorry I don't see that at all.

These so-called hunters go online pretending to be teenage girls or boys. I'm afraid I find that very suspect. I think a lot of them get off on it and are no better than those they pretend to be hunting.

@Dramatical

I think that @Whereareyouspot (please correct me if I'm wrong) was saying they are very wary of "paedophile hunters".

It looks like that what you were saying too; so I think you're on the same page on that front.

If you look at the pages of any local newspaper you’ll see a vast number of local nonces brought to just thanks to the efforts of paedophile hunters.

Completely untrue.

People who work in Subway stores are officially known as "sandwich artists". I used to do a bit of mystery shopping and the questionnaire was a hoot. "Was the sandwich artist well presented?" "Did the sandwich artist ask if you wanted salad?" and you were marked down if you used other terms like staff member or team member.

Just done a quick search of ours. Zero. Hardly a vast number.

'paedophile hunters' what a bunch of wankers ! how many innocent people have been targeted, beaten up or murdered by these morons ?
certainly don't believe the birth certificate thing though.it was obviously faked. possibly like this thread ?

I often think these 'hunters' are the ones we should actually be worried about. Pretending to be young boys & girls online and indulging in such chats is just as strange, I think they get a kick from it.

Poor child if this is true.

Our local one himself has the type of conduct that doesn’t let him be around kids unsupervised and if your a new gf you can expect a multi agency visit giving you the choke him or your kids.

He’s almost killed 2 women and viciously beaten their kids and assaulted a unknown to him toddler in a public venue.
Yet he’s all about protecting women and kids.
He’s a violent abuser

@needsasockamnesty - they are all the same type - out there protesting with 'are' Tommeh whilst quietly smacking their wives up, a bunch of Stella infused arseholes, looking for a fight on every football away day.

Screenshot or it didn't happen.
Im finding this hard to beleive that anyone would put the word paedophile on a birth certificate, regardless of whether it says Hunter after it.

Repeating what I posted over an hour ago, in case the OP missed it as they haven't been back (why am I not surprised bearing in mind point 3):

  1. Photo or it didn't happen
  2. Even if you produce a photo, it will have been faked; there is no way a registrar would permit that (I asked one of my friends, who is one)
  3. Interesting first post

OK Dramatical but I think most people are reading it differently from you based on the helpful factor that the pp seems far more likely to be critical of vigilante groups than of those who dislike them. Her phrasing was slightly ambiguous but the way you’re reading it would be a hell of a lot more of an outlier opinion and seems pretty unlikely. But you “erm” away

What the papers do show is that it's the likes of that fool Tommy Robinson who use a purported concern for children to justify overt racism. Describing yourself as a paedophile hunter is like putting a giant dick on your head.

64. I don't see what you are trying to say at all. The poster said...

Yes ok, me too. These groups are not good.

However, they went on to say...

Plenty of instances of people who claim to be oh so anti something turning out to be perpetrators themselves

So I will 'erm' as much as I please, because I can't see anywhere in that post that means the same as I said. At all.

Hmmm I’m deeply sceptical about these paedophile hunters to be honest. I would even go as far as to wonder what their true motivation is and whether they had something to hide themselves.

For example, paedophiles have been caught online whilst being part of groups like the EDL, ranting about Muslim grooming gangs etc and making threats and when the police look at their laptops they have also found images of kids.

I’m afraid I see it as a bit doth protest too much and would not want a ‘hunter’ around my DC.
