AIBU?

Father lists his job description as paedophile hunter when registering his babies birth

I saw this today on Facebook.

One of the self styled paedophile hunters who track down potential groomers online has listed his job description as paedophile hunter when registering his new babies birth. He posted a photo of that section on the BC to show that he'd done it.

AIBU to say this is bloody ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed?

Absolutely horrible. What's the matter with the man? I saw a programme not that long ago about someone who was a 'paedophile hunter', naming and shaming, etc, with several others but he was the organiser. He turned out to be a paedophile.

Sick.

The police exist to enforce law, sometimes it doesn't work or takes time, we all know that, but I would rather properly trained professionals were looking out for the interests of our children than a team of vigilantes.

Zombie thread nearly a year old!

Although I think the guy should have a proper day job, given the amount of grooming happening in my neighbourhood, I can't blame fathers when they get together and decide to try to do something. The police have been shown to be overwhelmed + incompetent + (in the case of ethnic politics) unwilling to deal with child abuse. As long as these "hunters" are smart & civilised about how they gather evidence etc I can't blame them.

Yeah well, if the police actually did their job and investigated grooming online instead of acting as Susie Green’s flying monkeys maybe they wouldn’t need to do this.

Hear hear.

I suspect they’ve very much reduced the number of men doing this.

The other thread references suicide but a number of children including Kayleigh Haywood and Ashleigh Hall have been murdered by these groomers so it’s not like these would be victimless crimes if the hunters disappeared tomorrow and left them to their own devices.

you know the 'hunter' type [that's a joke] type, heavy low brow and grazed knuckels and answers to 'ug', this species is a brilliant dad and usually a shit partner /husband.
humans evolved these types are still trying to work out how to make flint arrow heads from pieces of wood. cynical me ?? never.

If these men are supposedly all unemployed and stupid it must be remarkably easy to catch paseophiles. Why are they still at liberty in the first place?

Because the police need, you know, actual evidence of wrongdoing. Vigilantes don't have the same basic rules to work within.

The term 'hiding in plain sight' springs to mind when i hear about paedophile vigilantes.

I'm the OP, i NC'd before I posted the thread and have now changed back so people can see I'm not a troll and it's not my first post. Just wanted to pop on and say so as I noticed some scepticism about the sincerity of the thread.

I've tried to go back and find the photo to attach here just now but I can't find it after trying several searches on FB.

I don't remember the name of the group it was on and there are hundreds of them. I can assure you I'm %100 genuine and did see this.

Whether it was faked or not I have no idea, i
Was just as surprised as others at the prospect of this sort of thing being allowed.

It was proudly posted on the page by the 'hunter' who was clearly basking in the applause he received from the many followers on the page.

Personally I don't agree with these types of groups, in part because of the reasons already mentioned. They seem to be a certain type of people, and not the sort who hold much credibility due to their demeanour.

I do watch some of the videos out of interest and they seem to be more focused on glory hunting than the welfare of children.

Not to discredit every single one of them as there are just too many to judge as a collective, but the majority of the ones I've seen come across as thuggish and get a thrill out of intimidating people.

What a twat. His poor child and OH. I'm guessing putting "unemployed" would have emasculates him. I can't stand vigilante justice seekers, it's never anyone but a thug looking for a reason to be violent

Never happened

There's irony for you. Talking about ignorance and you're repeating the oft-told myth about something that never happened

Fair enough it was an early example (10 years ago) of fake news. But it's feasible and not beyond the realms of possibility that it could happen. It evidences a mindset with people like this idiot in the OP - I mean why would you put that job title on your DCs birth certificate ffs. And why would you take the law into your own hands unless you were minus mire than a few braincells.

Commented on the other post regarding this and will say it again....vigilante groups like these are dickheads who are only interested in the glory and 'likes' of the idiots who support them.

I think these paedophile hunters groups are largely made up of men with their own strange inclinations, not usually very bright and generally prone to violence too.

@Dramatical - I read that post the same way you did initially. Took a second reading.

Inform him there is a glitch in software and the database will only output the first word when printing profession.

Our HR database at one place I worked had a very short job title field and computer analyst always got shortened to computer anal. :D

Scrum Master does exist as a job title.

@shatnerswig oops I missed the ‘terrorised/victimised’ bit, I was just pointing out that paediatrician and paedophile do get confused by some and I can see how people that confuse the two might be a danger to their ‘suspects’

Ok. Honestly I was calling myself stupid. And yes, the posters that were having a laugh at my expense. No need. It was genuine, even if stupid, confusion.
