Thanks custardy, someone else had linked to the clip earlier in the thread but I thought it worth posting again in case people had missed it

CustardySergeant · 26/03/2019 19:30

Oh yes, scrolling up I can see the other links now. Blush I think I'd better read the whole thread now and poss. the previous one too.

Blush again.

Thank you SevenSeasofRye for
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x2J7g-jU-Q. This is also very powerful. In addition to analysis of the case, she addresses the mystery of why the UK government gave such an incredible amount of support to the couple and cites this as a greater mystery than the event of Madeleine McCann disappearing.

@Andromeida59 your last para is exactly how miscarriages of justice start.

RedHelenB · 27/03/2019 13:16

I didn't get any bad vibes from Murat. Having said that I didn't from the first Ian Huntley interview either. Not sure you can take anything from that.

I still think that it is too easy to place all the blame on the PJ investigation.

Watching the video of the statement analysis but finding it a bit confusing if I'm honest.

ColeHawlins · 27/03/2019 13:20

Murat strikes me as a perfectly nice chap. He was given a horrific time for nothing.

LizzieMacQueen · 27/03/2019 13:20

I thought the use of facial recognition was an interesting point and I don't know if that is something they (interpol?) can do on ALL seized child pornography. I hate the idea of facial recognition software normally but in this case it could lead to a good outcome.

Did you see that BBC had a story on how we could all help in identifying locations captured on CP, one for all amateur sleuthers out there.

There's a thread about that running on here somewhere.

Andromeida59 · 27/03/2019 13:27

@cole, hardly. I just felt very uncomfortable by the way he inserted himself in to the investigation. It's more his personality that gave me the creeps. There are certain people, who like to try and take control of situations, who try to exploit desperate situations.
This is how he came across to me. How that equates to a miscarriage of justice is beyond me.

ColeHawlins · 27/03/2019 13:30

Oh behave yourself. "Exploit"?

profumoaffair · 27/03/2019 13:36

This is interesting. US experts believe that advances in DNA technology could yield more definitive information about the 'inconclusive' samples taken from the Mccann's appartment and hire car.

I live in the north of Portugal and the view is still non abduction here. However the timeline just doesn't make sense for the Mcanns to be involved. If there was an accident and she died I can't see two loving parents thinking oh we are going to get into trouble let's cover this up, where did they put her, did all the friends know and see this? Surely the restaurant waiters and others would notice they were gone for a substantial period of time. It doesn't make sense. It hurts my heart I have a 2 and 5 year old. The algave and Portugal are very safe places with wonderful people.

ColeHawlins · 27/03/2019 14:17

Exactly.

RedHelenB · 27/03/2019 17:03

The suggestion is that the timeline might not be reliable.

Kate is an anaesthetist. She is not going to fucking about with Nytol on a 3 year old with a syringe that came free with a bottle of calpol. If they were sedated, it is more likely to be by the intruder.

SevenSeasofRye · 27/03/2019 21:55

Nettle, if that happened and the parents confessed they would have lost their jobs and their other two children would have been taken into care. Their lives would have been ruined. A lot at stake.

Nettlescoop · 27/03/2019 22:35

Why Mymycherrpie? There was no evidence of an intruder or break in of any kind. Even if there was, how could an intruder sedate the children so quickly unless they were trained in administering intravenous sedation - seems highly unlikely.

Mammyloveswine · 27/03/2019 23:15

I thought that statement analysis video was a crock of shite... they were asked questions years after their daughters disappearance, of course theyre going to speak in the past tense! Theyre also professionals who will have been used to giving terrible news to people and will therefore be used to discussing things less emotionally charged.

There are loads of interviews where kate does exactly what this "analyst" says a typical mother would do, videos of Kate pleading with a kidnapper "please give us our daughter back" etc.

Honestly this type of shit irritates me so much. The guy started this as a hobby then had 200 hours training... that's hardly a degree in bloody psychology is it? If he did 20 hours "study" a week it's only 10 weeks!

I think its a very dangerous video to share and the guy has as much merit as any tom, dick or harry.

Fwiw i thought the documentary was very compelling and i am totally on the side of kate and gerry.

Mymycherrypie · 28/03/2019 07:09

The window was open. That’s evidence of an intruder. You say quickly but by their time line there is a window of an hour for sedation.

RedHelenB · 28/03/2019 07:14

He had some valid points though. Why did they say search forever and not until she was found? And why were they talking about marking a 10 year anniversary of the campaign way before that date?

Have their ever been instances in the UK where a child was taken and turned up years later like Elizabeth smart in America.?

Mymycherrypie · 28/03/2019 07:25

Maybe because they have a large lexicon and chose to use it? It sounds more emphatic? It makes a better headline? Lots of reasons that don’t equal = murdered their daughter on holiday.

XiCi · 28/03/2019 07:37

Thats the point though isn't it. They had the means, experience and reason to properly sedate the children. Hence them being sure she wouldn't have woken and wandered off. There has never been any evidence of an intruder. The only prints on the window were Kates showing she pushed it open from the inside. In any case an intruder wouldn't need to mess around climbing in and out of windows as they'd left the doors open!
