Size 16 and 16.7 stone??

Hello all, I’ve been trying to lose weight and I was talking to my friends who are about size 12-14 and they weigh between 10 stone and 12 stone and they were shocked when I told them I was over 16 stone. I am 5”6 and wear 36C/38C bra and size 16 in top and bottoms. Is this normal and is there anyone else like this?

I’m a size 18-20. I weigh 17stone 4pounds and I’m 5ft 4.
I also don’t give a flying fuck what people think about me!

Yep! Everyone carries weight differently. I’m about that weight (I think), 5’5 and a size 16 in dresses (a good, vintage pencil dress size 16, not a baggy size 16). I own trousers between 16 to 20 depending on the fit I’m going for and the brand because ALL my weight is in my hips and thighs. At every size, i struggle to fine trousers that fit my waist, which is 11 inches smaller than my hips.
No one ever believes I weigh what I do, I’m like a neutron star even at my absolute super fit, 20 year old, size 8-10 thinnest, I weighed about 10.5 stone.

I was the same before I lost a bit of weight. I'm a size 10 at 11 stone and at 15 stone I'm a size 14-16. Most people when I told them my weight were surprised and guessed me around the 12 to 13 stone mark.

This is all so confusing! I couldn't get on a pair of size 10 jeans today, not even past my arse let alone doing up.

I'm 5'7" and 10 stone.

Previously anorexic, seven stone and a size 6 - I'm enjoying having boobs and a bum now but really struggling with having to learn how to dress to flatter them.

Also learning sometimes you really do have to undo the top of your trousers after a big bowl of pasta. Worth it :)

I’m of the @ToffeePennie school of thought on this subject I look and feel good, I exercise and eat well, I don’t weight myself and I buy clothes that fit me regardless of what’s on the label. Life’s too short to do otherwise.

Clothes sizes are weird

I’m 5’5 and 7st 12 and a size 8-10. Sometimes a 6 in places like next.
When I weighed 10st I was more like a size 12-14. If I weighed 16st I would easily be in size 20 and above.

I still don’t fit in size 8 in places like new look or top shop for trousers though. Only in tops or skirts. Fat bottom and legs still. And I still look bigger than a lot of my friends who say they weigh more than me, ergo weight doesn’t really tell you that much. My bmi is verging on underweight but I still couldn’t get into size 8 jeans in top shop - well I presume not. I haven’t tried! Definitely couldn’t get into a size 6.

When I was a size ten I weighed ten stone (5’6). Think I’m about 11 1/2 stone now and a size 14. People are different.

I'm surprised too, I'm 5.4 and a size 18 at 13 stone.

Where do you buy these clothes, I want some .. I'm the same weight but 5'8" and a size 20 (occasionally and 18)

I do have a pair of size 12 leggings though - maybe I should claim that as my true dress size!

I thought big boned referred to your frame rather than them being long or heavy?

My wrists, width of shoulders and hips, elbows etc all measure large without being fat bearing, and my hand span is about 9".

People can be any size they want to be if they choose where they shop carefully!

It's a dangerous game though, I was 17 stone but convinced myself I was a size 18 because that's what the labels said. I ignored the fact that 70% of size 18s didn't fit me.

I m the same bra and clothes size as you OP, reckon I weigh about 16 stone ish but I m a bit taller (5'9/10) I think everyone carries weight differently!

It varies so much depending on body shape and composition

I’m 5’3”, 14 stone and mostly wear a 16 with the occasional 18 bottom depending on the cut (fat arse)

I'm 4ft 11 too and a size 10 discoshoes and I weigh 7st 4lb. This just goes to show how we can be different weights but the same size.

5ft4, 11 stone, size 10, 34B. Classed as obese and have been told by nurse to do something about my weight 🙄! Carry all my weight in my legs though, can't fit my calves in the majority of boots but have a v slim top half/flat stomach. We're all built v different 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was 15 stone and in a size 16. To me i looked way smaller than 15 stone

Sizes are crazy! I’m an 8 - 14 depending on brand & how I want the item to fit.
I have a vintage M&S jacket in size 12 that fits perfectly.
I’m 5’2 and about 9.5 stone, bra 30DD.
When I weighed a stone less, it was hard to find tops small enough in some shops, and yet I was by no means skinny and my BMI was in the middle of the healthy range.

I am broad though. Imagine a power lifter or someone hulking sacks of potatoes about. Wide shoulders and big hands/feet. I wanted to be petite

You can carry weight as differently as you like but unless you are 5”10 / 6 foot you aren’t a size 16 at 16 stone

I'm also 5'6" and a size 16, but I "only" weigh 13 st, and have substantial 36g boobs. I don't know where you're carrying your weight OP!

I'm 5 ft 8.

I was 18 stone 2lb last summer, size 18-20 in non fitted stretch fabric! 38C bra.

Now 14 stone and a size 16 in fitted clothes. Can get away with a 14 in stretchy material. 36B bra.

People have always underestimated my weight and clothes size. I put it down to dense bones and a lot of muscle.
