Hello all, I’ve been trying to lose weight and I was talking to my friends who are about size 12-14 and they weigh between 10 stone and 12 stone and they were shocked when I told them I was over 16 stone. I am 5”6 and wear 36C/38C bra and size 16 in top and bottoms. Is this normal and is there anyone else like this?

Oh and boobs are much bigger than a C cup! Weird!

Hotterthanahotthing · 18/03/2019 15:49

5'6",13 1/2 stone and a size 18 top and 16 bottoms.We all vary.

greenelephantscarf · 18/03/2019 15:50

store sizes vary so much it doesn't really matter.
I have clothed from size 8 to size 16 that all fit well Confused

ALongHardWinter · 18/03/2019 15:51

Wow! How do you manage that? I'm 16 stone 7 lbs (having managed to get down from 20 stone 2 lbs since the end of May last year Smile) and I'm 5 feet 6 inches tall. I'm a size 20 all over, but my bra size is a 46 DD!

Bibijayne · 18/03/2019 15:51

Blue merchant snap!!

Although in cheaper brands - next, marks and Spencer’s etc - I’m a 12.

Embracing middle age and Boden - 14. Banana republic - 14. Ted baker - 14.

TiredTodayZzzz · 18/03/2019 15:55

I'm 5ft6 and a size 14-16. I was 11st 2lb last time I weighed myself. I was 10st last year and a 12-14, I havent been a size 10 since I was around 9 and a half stone.

AnnaMagnani · 18/03/2019 15:55

I'm 5ft 6 and in January I was 14st and have lost a stone.

I can tell you with some confidence you are in the wrong bra size - I was a 34G - 38C is just bonkers.

You are also shopping somewere that does major vanity sizing or stretchy clothes or mostly likely both. I had clothes that were size 16 that fitted but really I was an 18, and in some shops that I just didn't set foot in I'd have been a 20.

My DM is same height as me, a stone lighter and a size 16 - yes, because she shops in different shops and wears her clothes baggy.

I was just kidding myself.

TixieLix · 18/03/2019 15:57

I'm 5'7". I used to be 16st4lb but lost 2.5 stone last year. I went from a size 20 (jeans) and was just starting to fit into a size 16. However, I've since put 0.5 stone back on (so now just over 14 stone) and the 16 jeans are feeling too snug again so back in my 18s until I can lose some more weight.

Geekster1963 · 18/03/2019 15:57

It depends on where you carry your weight and your frame. We are all different even at the same dress size.

TruffleShuffles · 18/03/2019 15:58

I don’t think it’s as simple as height and weight. Where you shop depends on what ‘size’ you are, it varies massively between stores. I also think the style of clothes you buy makes a difference, pre pregnancy I was a small in Zara but during my pregnancy and up to my due date I could still buy size small in Zara in their smock and oversize style tops and dresses obviously bottoms I had no chance.

Pannalash · 18/03/2019 15:58

Similar height and weight size 26 tops.

Siameasy · 18/03/2019 15:58

Size doesn’t mean anything unless you’re going by the old standard sizes.
I have to pick up 3 sizes in every shop I go in. 8 10 and 12.
On ASOS it’s more like the old sizes. 16 is 41-33-43. Measure yourself and you’ll know which will fit.
I’m a 12 on ASOS so that tells me that some shop sizes run two sizes too big. I’m looking at you M and S

ProseccoandPizza · 18/03/2019 15:59

5”5 size 14 top 12-14 bottom. 34HH boobs.
Currently weigh around 13.5 stone.

At 16.5 stone last summer I was an 18/20 on top and 16 bottom.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/03/2019 15:59

This time last year I was 16 stone 2 and a size 16. Now I’m 15 stone 2 and a size 16 😄 lowest I’ve ever been was 13 stone and size..... 16 😄

lidoshuffle · 18/03/2019 15:59

Interesting comparison of shop sizes here:
sizes.darkgreener.com

I am very surprised at size inflation though. 20 odd years ago I was 10.5 stone, 36 26 38 and a size 14. That is now a size 8 in some shops! Shock

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/03/2019 16:01

Size doesn’t mean anything unless you’re going by the old standard sizes.

I never understand this, because who goes by the old standards anymore? How old are we talking anyway?

I buy the same size anywhere and rarely have any problems personally.

ErickBroch · 18/03/2019 16:02

Shops differ. I am a 14 in topshop/riverisland/etc and a 10(!!) in Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys

mum23cs · 18/03/2019 16:03

I'm the same weight and height as you and a 38dd.. my friends don't believe me either as they are size 16s but weigh stones less.. baffled!

Lovemusic33 · 18/03/2019 16:03

People carry weight in different places. I’m 5”3 and 9.5 stone, size 12 (trying to get back to a 10). I carry weight around my hips and thighs.

Petalflowers · 18/03/2019 16:04

I’m 5’7 and am 14 in tops and 18 in trousers (Classic pear) and weigh about 13”4’.

icannotremember · 18/03/2019 16:06

I'm 5'4", I needed a size 16 at 12.5 stone. Last time I was down around 9- 9.5 stone I wore an 8. God knows what I would fit into if I was 9 stone now, with vanity sizing it would probably be a 4 or something daft.

Dippypippy1980 · 18/03/2019 16:06

I love this website - it shows a how clothes sizes vary across brands. I used to be obsessed with being a size 10! I probably am somewhere😊

Oops cross posted!!

Loubilou09 · 18/03/2019 16:10

5' 7" and about 13 stone and just in a 16. If I get much heavier I will go into an 18. I have to get down to 11.7-12 stone before I get into a 14.
