I am SKELETOR!!

cinamogirl · 17/03/2019 22:50

I am not being dramatic! (I promise )
I am a first time Mum. My son is nearly 12 months old. He is amazing and I can not remember life without him! My son is happy and healthy, as am I.
My AIBU is... (I am prepared not to get much sympathy) but AIBU about not being able to keep any weight on? I LOOK LIKE SKELETOR! I was a comfortable 9 stone (slim yet curvy for my 5"2 height).
Since I have stopped expressing for my son (time in NICU) I just can't keep the weight on? I am down to 7 something stones (I don't want to admit how small I am) and I just feel... all bones?
I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't snack much (childhood values) and I don't drink alcohol. The pounds are falling off of me and I long for my womanly curves!
I need some advice? I look like a prepubescent teen Blush
It's difficult to talk about in RL because I understand I am in the minority with new Mums. I just want my boobs back!! Grin TIA x

You're asking for 'positive replies only' but it doesn't work like that. How about you change your attitude and how you view people, stop insulting them, realize it's not appropriate or acceptable to give people nasty names behind their back and grow up a bit.

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 01:05

Duster... I have been nothing but accepting of PPs views (I will go to a GP now) and I thank everyone for their positive replies. I was hoping my thread would be taken as lighthearted (hence my original post!) Clearly you have taken offence to my ramblings... so please bugger off to a different thread and go suck on the blood of someone else TIA xx Grin

Could you have an overactive thyroid? (there is a technical term for it but its late!). See a doctor as others have said.

SurgeHopper · 18/03/2019 01:09

OK, add to your diet :

Full fat diary (have a full fat yogurt with brekkie)
Macaroni cheese for lunch or dinner
When you have bread or pasta, have butter and cheese with it
Pasta with cream sauce I. E carbonara
Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese for lunch

A fry up in a morning (or at any time) will pump up the calories, especially if you add buttered toast.

Do you like desserts? If so, add these to your diet

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 01:13

Thank you so much! I love yogurt and Mac and cheese! I will add them to my daily diet pronto. I think I just need to make more of an effort to fuel myself but it's so hard with a energetic baby. I guess I have let my needs come last but now I have some great on-the-go ideas to fill me up. Thank you x

I am not a desert person unfortunately. But please keep the savoury ideas coming x

Nice one. Sleletor is cool!

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 01:22

I think 'duster12' is in-fact SKELETOR! She seems very irate at my mention of the 80s super villain?

zenasfuck · 18/03/2019 01:24

@Arriettyborrower overactive thyroid isn't easily resolved for many people

I had it after having my son, I was seriously ill for two years, on complete bed rest after suspected stroke and ended up having surgery, followed by intensive care stay and thyroid storm which can be fatal

Really kisses me off when people talk about thyroid problems as if they are as easily treated as the common cold - thyroid problems can kill you

zenasfuck · 18/03/2019 01:25

@MumUnderTheMoon did you mean thyroid problems are basic and easily resolved ?
If so please read my previous post

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 01:39

Zenusfuck Could you please tell me more about an over active thyroid? Any obvious symptoms I need to be aware of? Apart from drastic weight loss of corse. I need to be healthy for my son and I want to explore every option, just incase. I hope you feel better, it sounds like you had a tough time x

This happened to me when I breastfed my DC. I lost all the baby weight almost instantly and then lost loads more, despite eating like a horse non stop.

I had blood tests done both times as people commented so much they made me feel like something must be really wrong (especially when the normal hair falling out stage kicked in). I was fine first time but a bit anaemic and vit D deficient. I felt a lot more human after treating those, didn't realise how exhausted I was until I wasn't any more.

Roomba · 18/03/2019 06:43

Oh, my thyroid was alright but that's what the GP was checking. Said it is very common to have it go haywire during pregnancy/just after birth.

RosemarysBush · 18/03/2019 06:56

Good luck with finding full fat yogurts, OP! You have to look quite hard!
How about cheese and crackers as an extra snack? Avocado? Or you can get build up shakes/ soups to drink in addition to your normal food.(or just s glass of full fat milk) Drinks might be easier to fit in when you’re so busy with baby?

Vegisgrowingwell · 18/03/2019 07:01

I was exactly the same as you and lost loads between my 2 children, to the point the Drs thought I might not conceive again (periods had become irregular)

It's easy to see from what you eat it just isn't enough! Hope adding carbs (which really aren't as bad for you as people make out) sorts it.

WholeL0ttaRosie · 18/03/2019 07:24

Couple of obvious symptoms could be that your eyes have a bulging look to them, and you have a swollen neck

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 18/03/2019 07:29

I agree with getting your thyroid levels checked at the gp or get a general health check up. I had awful thyroid issues after pregnancy and it’s taken a while to get sorted out but it’s really important to get checked even just to rule it out

nrpmum · 18/03/2019 07:33

www.nhs.uk/conditions/overactive-thyroid-hyperthyroidism/

I am underactive OP. You can have some of my fat!

In all seriousness get checked out.

MaggieAndHopey · 18/03/2019 07:52

I don't know if you do have an overactive thyroid, OP, or if you just aren't eating enough. I did have hyperthryroidism after both of my pregnancies - early symptoms were rapid weight loss, faster heart rate (resting pulse was 100 bpm), feeling hot. But symptoms do vary. Turns out I have Graves' disease which in theory could recur at any time but touch wood it seems to be just pregnancy that triggers it for me.

Not everyone has a goitre or bulging eyes - I had neither.

MumUnderTheMoon · 18/03/2019 10:06

@zenasfuck no I didn't. I was thinking there could be another cause that I (not a doctor) don't know of. And being as OP was getting worried I was trying to point out that not everything is big and scary or difficult to solve.

Duster12 · 18/03/2019 10:19

What idiotic responses from you. Accept the spanking and move on.

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 10:28

Thank you so much everyone for your helpful reply's. They really give me something to work with and I am feeling positive about getting my weight back on track. I have booked myself a GP appointment this morning and they completely agree I should get some bloods done - just to be on the safe side.

As for you Duster12... please slither back into the shadows from which you came. I have no time for your negativity (NOTE you are the only person trying to derail this thread) Always one hey?

OP posts:
Duster12 · 18/03/2019 10:32

You're attempting to convince yourself that someone pulling you up on your rude, unpleasant and immature behavior is the negative one..? Let us know how that goes.

SlightAggrandising · 18/03/2019 10:33

Are you quite well otherwise OP? Your posts seem a bit frantic.

BadLad · 18/03/2019 10:35

Sleletor is cool!

Nah, he's a chav. I've only ever seen him wearing a hoodie.
