I am SKELETOR!!

cinamogirl · 17/03/2019 22:50

I am not being dramatic! (I promise )
I am a first time Mum. My son is nearly 12 months old. He is amazing and I can not remember life without him! My son is happy and healthy, as am I.
My AIBU is... (I am prepared not to get much sympathy) but AIBU about not being able to keep any weight on? I LOOK LIKE SKELETOR! I was a comfortable 9 stone (slim yet curvy for my 5"2 height).
Since I have stopped expressing for my son (time in NICU) I just can't keep the weight on? I am down to 7 something stones (I don't want to admit how small I am) and I just feel... all bones?
I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't snack much (childhood values) and I don't drink alcohol. The pounds are falling off of me and I long for my womanly curves!
I need some advice? I look like a prepubescent teen Blush
It's difficult to talk about in RL because I understand I am in the minority with new Mums. I just want my boobs back!! Grin TIA x

Losing weight rapidly when you’re eating normally need to be checked out OP. A trip to the doctor is the best idea.

cinamogirl · 17/03/2019 23:57

Thank you Candiedskulls ... I don't know how to tag people! But thanks again x

I really think you ought to see your GP. Unexplained weight loss can have sinister causes.
Don't panic but put your mind at rest and book an appointment OP!

ADHMeeee · 18/03/2019 00:08

After my first born, never mind the weight I lost during pregnancy (!) but I lost it dramatically afterwards. I didn't find out why, I have ED issues and liked it. But looking back at the photos a few months into new motherhood, I am shocked. I think my thyroid was affected. Deffo see GP for a bloodtest. But don't panic load either, you're asking for help, you're acknowledging it's an issue.

WelcomeToGreenvale · 18/03/2019 00:25

Have you seen Skeletor? He's ripped. Not skeletal at all.

I'd book a GP appointment to be safe.

SurgeHopper · 18/03/2019 00:29

What are you actually eating?

People have very different ideas of a high calorie diet.

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:34

Thank you all again. I will go to my GP just incase, I am a Mummy now and I can't poo-poo good advice, I need to make sure I am ok for my son!
And lol... sorry PP I don't know how to tag you... but is Skeletor really ripped? It's just a name me and my siblings used for bony people? I know he was in 'He-man' but I am sure he was all bones? Grin x

He just has a skull face, but a body like he-man, only blue...

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:40

Thank you for asking! This is what I was hoping for...

I eat seeded toast with peanut butter (2 slices) for breakfast.
Lunch is a (shop bought) baguette or left over meat (joints cooked regularly). I eat the meat alone with mayo (gross I know!)
And dinner is meat and veg/salad (Husband is on low carb diet).
I am not one to snack and we don't drink alcohol. I don't like fizzy drinks and pure orange juice gives me water infections. I only drink water. I dislike tea and coffee x

Oh my Blush I need to google image skeletor!! Am I ready? Hehe x

You could try using a tracking app like My FitnessPal for a few days. If you properly measure and weigh what you're eating it should give you an accurate idea of the calories you're eating, and the carbs/fat/protein balance.

It sounds like you might not be eating enough calories, depending on your portion size for the lunch and evening meals.

Duster12 · 18/03/2019 00:44

What's your name for overweight people?

swindy · 18/03/2019 00:45

You're not eating enough!! Your DH can have meat and salad if he likes for tea but add in a jacket potato for you.

swindy · 18/03/2019 00:45

Duster Michelin man?

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:47

Duster... I have no name for overweight people. I focus on my own struggles... and I am underweight. Have I offended you? Please elaborate...

Based on this, you're probably on around 1200 cals per day. B=400, L=400 (shop bought baguette could be more, meat at home could be less), D= 400. You don't snack, drink alcohol or anything other than water.

If you're running around after a baby, you're burning way more than that 1200 cals.

Hence the weight loss.

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:48

Swindy. Really? You think so? I eat big portions? Maybe I need the carbs? I never believed in 'low-carb' diets (or any diet for that matter!) I think you are on to something Smile

Duster12 · 18/03/2019 00:50

You are slim at the moment. You were nine stone before. You and your siblings called bony people, 'Skeletor,'. Quite rude tbf. Am i unreasonable to assume you'd have some kind of name for overweight people also? 🤔

SurgeHopper · 18/03/2019 00:51

What foods do you enjoy eating that are high calorie?

Cake? Chocolate? Cheese? Bread? Crisps? Nuts? Chocolate milk? Sausages, bacon, burgers? Salmon?

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:52

Ok, thank you everyone (positive replies only!) I can see I need to eat more carbs and more calories. It's shocking to see! (Thank you for the breakdown PP!)
Ok, so how can I add healthy calories? Shall I add pasta to my meals? (I don't like chips or potatoes... I am strange I know Confused) How can I plump up my food intake? TIA x

OP posts:
cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:54

I love sausages and bacon! Maybe I should have a fry-up for breakfast? Will that help? Depending on if my baby-son will give me the opportunity obviously Wink

OP posts:
swindy · 18/03/2019 00:55

Yeah, pasta or rice. When DH has meat and salad you can have rice as well? Or add it to your lunch. Ditch the shop bought stuff and make a bigger lunch?

cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:56

Are certain PPs getting offended by SKELETOR? Really? It's a characters name from an 80s cartoon!! Get a grip people 😂

OP posts:
cinamogirl · 18/03/2019 00:59

Thank you swings. I love rice and pasta! I will add that to my lunch and dinner and see if that helps x
