I've recent noticed an upsurge in the number of people commenting on threads with remarks or questions that have been answered by the OP further up.
So frustrating!
Why the hell can't people at least read the OP's comments even if they don't want to read the whole thing?
I'm aware it's not a new thing but I'm noticing it more and more lately. AIBU to yell at people to RTFT?!

A bugbear of mine, can i say, as i havent read the thread, is the bringing up of previous posts, the detectives among us.

it is extraordinarily frustrating when you are scrolling through just to see the OP's updates and find out that they bloody namechanged part way through the thread.
This. Although I think sometimes it happens by accident.

The poster detective-researchers must have an awful lot of time on their hands, to delve through all the previous posts to make a point. I barely have enough time to read the threads that interest me .

To highlight OPs posts

On the desktop site go to the down arrow next to Talk (towards the top left of the page)

Go to Customise

Choose the right option, then select your colour.

Is there a way to just read the posters comments if a thread is massive and you on a phone so difficult to scroll through ?

No, I don't think so. And I use Chrome on Android so the colour option isn t available for me.

I usually expand the entire thread (click down arrow then "Show All Messages In This Thread").

Then use Chrome's search for the OPs username. It's a faff but a bit better than missing important updates.

I really appreciate posters who say "oh sorry, I missed XYZ, please ignore my message"
