....how are you going to vote, would you even bother?

OP posts:
NameChangeNugget · 13/03/2019 17:35

We had an alternative vote referendum in 2011, which was heavily defeated.

Why do we need another? Is it LibDem policy to have another vote on everything they disagree with?

No wonder they have a pitiful amount of MP’s

HavelockVetinari · 13/03/2019 17:35

TIG if it was an option. Would never vote Labour with Corbyn at the helm even though I'm a lifelong Labour voter.Sad

I really hate what the Tories have done to education and the NHS over the last few years so couldn't see myself voting for them either.

On balance I'd go Lib Dems, assuming Sir Vince is still at the helm. He's a very intelligent and sensible man, even though not everyone in his party is.

kikisparks · 13/03/2019 17:36

SNP

TalkinPaece · 13/03/2019 17:52

Nugget
I remember the AV vote
it was done atrociously
there are some really good PR methods that make every vote count

rather than situations where an MP is in the House of Commons having won only 25% of the votes in their constituency

it would also allow both the Tory and Labour parties to split
and the middle ground to be heard again

icannotremember · 13/03/2019 17:59

For one he wants "a" custom union whilst doing away with FOM, that's not workable from the EU

That's not true. A customs union does not require FOM. It's membership of the so for market which does.

icannotremember · 13/03/2019 18:00

*single market. Not so for market.

CasperGutman · 13/03/2019 18:01

I would vote for my incumbent Labour MP, because, as an individual, she's wonderful.

Batsypatsy · 13/03/2019 18:03

Can't believe people would either not bother voting or continue to vote conservative after everything they've done. People are dying because of their austerity measures. Don't any of you care? Oh right, of course it doesn't affect you, so head in the sand and continue to vote for this shower ... as long as you're ok who cares? Angry

I'd be voting labour because I don't believe the Tory paid media and think at last there's someone who lives in the real world instead of cashing in on brexit etc.

10IAR · 13/03/2019 18:03

SNP.

If I had any faith that a Labour administration wouldn't push Brexit I could be persuaded to tactically vote Labour, but I don't.

GottenGottenGotten · 13/03/2019 18:04

SNP

They are very unlikely to be voted in my area, but they are the only party that has come close to the party that always gets in here. Our current mp is a totally self-serving asshat. He'll still get in though.

10IAR · 13/03/2019 18:05

GottenGottenGotten it's not Douglas Ross or Ross Thomson that is your current MP is it? self serving asshats brought them to mind

Spiritinabody · 13/03/2019 18:06

Not absolutely sure but I would vote for either the Conservatives or, if article 50 is extended, I might vote for Nigel Farage's new Brexit party.

BlessTheRains · 13/03/2019 18:06

Wouldn't vote Conservative or Labour.

I would probably go to the hustings and decide from the rest - Lib Dem, Green, TIG, Independent - which I liked best as an individual.

BlessTheRains · 13/03/2019 18:08

I won't vote Labour because Corbyn and his mates are economically illiterate and will tank our country's finances. Which means that when the Conservatives then get back into government to clear up their mess then we'll be facing decades more of austerity.

Corbyn does not live in the real world. He grew up rich, went to private school and is a career politician who has never had a real job.

ValleyoftheHorses · 13/03/2019 18:11

I’ve always voted Tory. I’m not feeling particularly impressed with them at the moment.
I might vote Labour with a different, more moderate and central Leader- perhaps Yvette Cooper? Our local MP is Labour and I have been impressed with him on local issues (and he answers my weekly emails on Brexit!). If it’s still Corbyn I couldn’t go there though.
So if Labour sort themselves out and sack Corbyn and go more middle ground I’d go for them. My main concern is Brexit and I’d want to see a Remain ticket.
I’d particularly want to see if they have strong economic policies, don’t want to tax me to the ends of the earth and don’t make inheritance tax an issue.
Perhaps Independent Group if they table a candidate in my area and looking very strong in the polls.
Lib Dem haven’t a hope in my area (Tory/ Labour swing seat).
If not probably Conservative again, unwillingly!

Er, in case you've been living in a cave for the last three years and haven't heard, the Tories are currently in the process of tanking the economy in pursuit of a ridiculous vanity project to leave the EU thanks to a few swivel eyed loons in their own party, and have created an almighty mess which will take decades to clear up.

If you think the Tories can be trusted with the economy you need to give your head a wobble.

BlessTheRains · 13/03/2019 18:17

It's not just a Tory project. It's something Jeremy Corbyn wanted and supported for decades. He voted to leave the EEC in 1975, he opposed the creation of the EU and the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, he broke the Labour whip in 2011 to vote for an EU referendum, he refused to do any meaningful campaigning for Remain during the 2016 referendum... Need I go on?

If Brexit is evidence that the Tories cannot be trusted with the economy, then quite clearly neither can Corbyn.

TonightJosephine · 13/03/2019 18:18

Oh Corbyn is a stupid pillock for sure, but Brexit is a Tory project.

10IAR · 13/03/2019 18:19

True. Why haven't more people noticed?

Martinova · 13/03/2019 18:21

It would be an extremely difficult decision.

On the one hand, I would find it incredibly hard to vote for the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn, given the antisemitic culture he has allowed to flourish in the party and his own extremely antisemitic actions.

But on the other hand, my local Labour MP (Jess Phillips) is ace. So I would probably vote for her, but I'd be doing so solely for her, not as an endorsement of the Labour Party.

LondonPainter · 13/03/2019 18:21

Whichever of the candidates who can define a woman

IrisAnon · 13/03/2019 18:22

Anyone but Corbyn. So probably Tory.

RMogs · 13/03/2019 18:22

I come from a Tory background...could never vote Labour however I am pretty sure I voted green last time and LibDem before. Actually no I voted Tory last time because the idea of changing governments while trying to sort Brexit seemed irresponsible (keeping with the Tory's really worked a treat 😂🙄🤦) so must have been green time before and LibDem before that.

I have no idea who I would vote for if an election was called now... I'd vote because I believe everyone should, but God knows which party I would trust

OscarWildesGreenCarnation · 13/03/2019 18:22

Between a rock and a very hard place. Women died so I could vote, so I shall do so in any event, but will probably end up voting Green as the rest are such a shambles. Clearly I know the Greens have their agenda, some of which I don't agree with, but what else is there? Politically homeless.
