How often do you fall over?

Just curious really. I have been surprised to the response about falling down stairs.
I fall over every few months, and always have. This ranges from tripping up and falling over on the pavement, to every few years falling all the way down stairs. I have been like this my whole life so I am not worried there is anything wrong. Just wondering if this is unusual?

I trip and stumble all the time, but then I do have dyspraxia! I am very clumsy in general.

I am amused by the number of people posting things like "reconsider what you wear on your feet", as if it's never occurred to us.

It's not what's on my feet that's the problem!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 13/03/2019 22:51

I landed on my arse recently, but that involved thick, deep clay mud and a very heavy wheelbarrow load of horse shit... Classy, I know.

I stumble a bit, trip over, and can lose my balance standing still. I also run into things like doors fairly frequently (slight miscommunication between my hand and the handle, usually). I think I'm just thick... I charge about without paying a lot of attention. My spatial awareness is rubbish, and some of my joints hyperflex (possibly just due to years of injury - horses are not good for your body, even if they're great for the soul!). It's not a smooth combination.

I can’t remember the last time i fell over, maybe 5/6 years?

OrangeFluff · 13/03/2019 22:58

I got diagnosed with dysparaxia as a young child. My Mum noticed I was very clumsy and fell alot compared to other kids and how my older sister was at the same age. But back then it was called Clumsy Child Syndrome.

BlimeyCalmDown · 13/03/2019 23:00

Quite alot I think because I'm always rushing about, had a few UDI's as well!

4wks ago I fell going upstairs, leg is still sore. A couple of years back I had 10" bruises about 3 times in one year. I'm very active and clumsy and often in a rush, bad combination.

Vulpine · 13/03/2019 23:02

Not alot

Choccywoccyhooha · 13/03/2019 23:08

Loads. Last week I feel down the stairs in my house and fell on the stairs in a lecture theatre hitting my head on a table as I went down. I have lots of dyspraxia symptoms though: messy handwriting, have never been able to grip a pen correctly, can't layout things for display neatly or cut straight with scissors, can't parallel park, have lots of trouble using keys...

Shinygoldbauble · 13/03/2019 23:19

I fall a lot. Because of this and other issues I looked into dyspraxia and did an online test. I think if I was a child today I would be diagnosed.
I fall upstairs more than down. It hurts but at least it's a bit safer than falling down.
I've fallen over in the street more than once (perhaps closer to 10 Blush) and fall in the house quite a bit but it's normal for me.
I'm lucky that I mostly get away with sprains or bumps and bruises, only one break.
Strangely, like other posters I've never fallen while drunk.

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/03/2019 23:44

I'm dyspraxic and fall over air! Always nursing a bruise or broken bone. Currently strapped up with snapped ligaments in my knee.

DiscoDown · 13/03/2019 23:50

@ZippyBungleandGeorge I tie my shoelaces weirdly as well! It never occurred to me until a Dj on the radio was taking the piss out of his colleague for the way he tied his shoes and I was like "but that's how I tie mine...". I also went to school in the 80s, as I say I was just known as the clumsy one but I think it'd be investigated these days. My shins are still covered in bruises like a 9 year old Blush.

DiscoDown · 13/03/2019 23:52

And I can be wearing trainers or be barefoot and still trip over, it's really not my footwear that's the problem...

Nacreous · 14/03/2019 05:55

I wear trainers or boots pretty much all winter and in summer all my shoes grip my feet - I very rarely wear flip flops or anything like that. I wear high heels at work but they're block heels and frankly I've never fallen at work.

I have fairly good balance - I can ride a unicycle!

I trip but catch myself on at least a weekly basis. I've fallen over and injured myself once in the last 12 months, and come off my bike and sprained my ankle quite badly. I fall over and don't injure myself probably once every few months. I fall usually about halfway down the stairs similarly often though usually manage to stay upright. I've never broken a bone.

Sweetpea55 · 14/03/2019 06:11

I was born with club feet so tend to have dodgy ankles at the best of times.
Last time I fell was in January when i caught my foot coming through the back door and went with a right smack. I lay there for a bit hoping I hadn't fractured a femur.. But too much blubber cover for that

Bloodybridget · 14/03/2019 06:17

I'm mid 60s and have probably fallen about ten times in my life (post childhood). I never hurt myself either - even when I slid down wooden stairs on my back with one leg bent up under me, I was only bruised!
