I'm really enjoying the thread in here about what is the best money you have ever spent, so thought we could do a reverse one?

Mine is spending ££££ on genuine Jo Malone perfume, smelt heavenly for all of 20 minutes then just totally faded away to nothing Angry

A decade ago we were given a free family photo session when we bought an Audi.

We spent about an hour posing and then were shown all the lovely photos in a special screening room. The free bit turned out to be one ridiculously small photo, so we ended up being persuaded to buy three large ones for £1500 to be paid off monthly.

We tried to cancel a few days later, but apparently they had already been processed. I withheld payment while we contacted the ombudsman, but they ruled in their favour. Even though I eventually paid for them in full, I was on a credit blacklist for five years.

They're still on our wall and are a lovely reminder of us all when we were younger, but it was such a scam IMO.

@ThePixieQueen which UD palette? All of mine have gorgeous pigmentation... I'd have taken it back and complained

Exhsuatedmuch · 13/03/2019 22:59

My extension.. Quote of £18000 turned into £34000 and three sets of cowboy builders. We had to complete it ourselves in the end.

I bought an Airfryer today because my son keeps asking for chips at home. Awful dry chips which are still stinking out the house, despite it being 5 hours ago and a candle burning in the kitchen for that long. Already cleaned it and boxed it for the charity shop. Not the best way to chuck away £170!!!

Colonic irrigation! Quite embarrassing and I can honestly say it had absolutely no noticeable effect on me whatsoever. It was recommended by my stupid sister, who told me she felt so much better in body and mind after her session. It was money I could ill afford to spend and, because I was too shy to decline them, I also got ripped off with some expensive tablets to take away with me and with a repeat appointment booked. I rang up the next day and cancelled the second appointment, even though the pushy woman I spoke to was not at all happy with me.

Yes yes yes to the con that is baby cranial osteopathy - charlatans, one and all.

A Panasonic smart TV - bought a month before Panasonic had financial troubles and was rescued. Hence they said they wouldn't support "old" models and none of the smart apps work anymore. A one month old telly..

A pair of Louboutins at £700.

The most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. Plus the red scuffs off after one wear and they look tatty.
I love them, the heel is nice and high, make my legs look amazing but the pain...

Didn't stop me from buying others though Hmm

I've just twigged about the Rolf Harris pictures. I wondered why you would ever have wanted to hang a picture of Rolf on your wall. Then I remembered he was an artist........

Me about 30 seconds before I read this 😂

strawberrisc · 14/03/2019 07:29

A Brazilian blow dry. Three days of a fucking greaseball bowl-head before. Fuck all difference after.

LikeACowsOpinion · 14/03/2019 07:46

@Lovingbenidorm absolutely gutted. Honestly. Sad

Bignosenobum · 14/03/2019 08:05

Botox spent 500 in 6 months. I ran out of money. and instead of one of the areas having 2 wrinkles now has 4 deep wrinkles.

Iberia tickets.... which got cancelled without me knowing. Then having to buy new tickets first class at the airport as that was what was available, when we were told at check in that our tickets were cancelled. On separate flights to my partner who helps me a great deal as I have injuries and other chronic debilitating issues and don’t travel well. Was ill the whole way. The food in the I Iberia VIP lounge in Madrid was appalling, dry hard rice everything was old, dry and sparse. It was disgusting! The beds that I was looking forward to recover in were closed for refurb. What was the point of charging First class then!!? The Iberia staff in the airport were huddled together like teenage girls ignoring travellers and when asked for assistance look you up and down and talk to you like scum because you’re dressed casually for travel not business. Absolutely appalling all round!
I can say without a doubt it was heavenly stepping onto BA on the last leg of the journey to London and breathing a sigh of relief when you’re greeted with a smile and treated like a human being and looked after all the way with pillows, blankets hot towels, ice packs and camomile teas. I nearly cried and I’m not biased hailing from both lands.

A curly perm.

Woman I worked with had the most glorious hair - thick glossy and bouncy curls - she told me it was permed. So I booked an appointment with her (very expensive) hairdresser and told her I wanted what colleague had had.

I came out looking like an electrocuted poodle and for the following months my hair was a wiry horrible frizz until the perm wore off.

ketchupormayo · 14/03/2019 09:24

Around £600 on an online course that was due in feb, another £50 for a 6 month extension and still done nada 🤦🏼‍♀️

ketchupormayo · 14/03/2019 09:30

Also Cinieworld unlimited cards. We wouldn't go for months at a time and we're paying £17 per month each 🙄

hamptonmummy · 14/03/2019 09:57

£2500 on a tempur mattress

£700 on chiropracty - was unpleasant and did f all

Treefloof · 14/03/2019 12:41

£100ish on a pair of pink Timberlands. I think I’ve worn them about 5 times
I have these wonders
www.timberland.com/shop/womens-6-inch-premium-embroidered-waterproof-boots-black-a1kix015

Love them, wear them quite a lot but not when its wet (despite them being waterproof) not when I may possibly have to walk near mud or dust or dirt in general. I spent over a hundred quid on boots that I can only wear in clean environments.

The latest stupid buying decision is a £400 shed, built to spec, has hosted one pushbike since it was put up. It supposed to have a load of garage crap moved into it. But almost a year on, still holds a bike.

sueelleker · 14/03/2019 12:47

Pinkbells; were the chips home-made or frozen? If you cook home-made chips you're supposed to add a little oil before cooking (either toss or spray) I love my Airfryer!
