ExDP used to call me it. I hated it. Anyone else?

Can't bare it. Blokes at work say it. Com

ILoveMaxiBondi · 11/03/2019 19:48

Yep hate it. My ex also called me it. Can’t stand it now. Didn’t like it when I was with him either tbh.

Strugglingtodomybest · 11/03/2019 19:49

I hate it too. I've warned my DH what will happen if he utters it Grin

ScreamingValenta · 11/03/2019 19:49

I agree, particularly "the missus'.

Singlenotsingle · 11/03/2019 19:49

Well, I call my dp "him indoors"! (Among other things - "the old fella").

MonstranceClock · 11/03/2019 19:49

I dont mind it. But then i often refer to my husband as "That twat I live with."

Ugh, I can't stand it either. It just sounds demeaning to me.

gamerchick · 11/03/2019 19:52

I don't care. I call husband wench. Everybody has their words, other people not liking them is fine.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2019 19:52

I'm sure mine's called me worse out of my hearing.

LessLivid · 11/03/2019 20:15

Agreed.

See also, “the wife”.

How the fuck I stayed married more than a week I don’t know.

SrSteveOskowski · 11/03/2019 20:23

Not as bad as 'hubby' and 'wifey', which is how DH's sister and her husband refer to each other. They're both as painful as each other though.

mimibunz · 11/03/2019 20:26

The men I work with will say it jokingly. Trying to train mine to refer to me as HRH.

didireallysaythat · 11/03/2019 20:27

Better than little wifey

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 11/03/2019 20:28

I hate it too. And I despise being referred to as wor/your/my lass........

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle · 11/03/2019 20:33

Eurgh ‘wifey’. Hate ‘wifey for lifey’ too 🤢.

CaseofEllen · 11/03/2019 20:37

My missus is okay I guess, the missus is gross. I'm not a 'the'.

RomanyQueen1 · 11/03/2019 20:40

I don't mind it as long as my name comes first, like "this is Romany, my missus. because I'm my own person before being his wife.
I'd introduce him the same, with his name first.

AutumnCrow · 11/03/2019 20:41

I think it depends on the couple, context, humour, region and general shittery.

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle · 11/03/2019 21:18

Romany that makes sense yes.

OP posts:
RomanyQueen1 · 11/03/2019 21:30

Round here they say er in doors, I'm not sure if this is better or worse, as er in doors is a force to be reckoned with. Grin

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2019 21:31

Up here people talk about wifey to refer to any woman, married or not. I fjnd that really odd.

RitaMills · 11/03/2019 21:36

I’m not too fussed by it, he calls me the missus and I call him face ache... we both know it’s just in jest and obviously wouldn’t use it in polite company.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 11/03/2019 21:37

I get "the wife" and "our lass" we're in Yorkshire, pretty normal round here
