ExDP used to call me it. I hated it. Anyone else?

I loathe “the missus” but I LOVE it when Irish friends call me “missus” Blush

ForalltheSaints · 11/03/2019 21:42

YANBU. There are many better alternatives.

Ooo you would have hearing my DH and I then Grin he's hubby and I'm wifeydoodle hahaha. Although, he's also "useless git" and I'm his "till something better comes along". All in jest though!

chestylarue52 · 11/03/2019 21:45

Wifeydoodle, if said in deliberate earshot of me, would have me vomiting on you.

Waterbottle1999 · 11/03/2019 21:47

Haha Chesty, I think it started when we were laughing at another couple for calling each other "my love" . Somehow it just stuck. I must admit, it doesn't get used outside the house

Freshprincess · 11/03/2019 21:53

At work We have blokes referring to girlfriends and wives as 'the missus'. First time I heard a colleague refer to his gf by her actual name, took me a minute to realise who he was talking about.

Frecklesonmyarm · 11/03/2019 21:58

Both je and my best friend refer to my do as 'the dickhead'. In front of him and when he isnt there. But my best friend is his sister so makes sense. Grin

Me and dp have an array of colourful and vibrant names for each other. All said in jest. When he does refer to me as 'her indoors' I usually reply with 'say it again, and you will be 'him outdoors.....sleeping in the garden' all said with good humour.

Grin my best friend (Irish) calls everyone missus to the extent that my son now calls her missus! He’ll announce her arrival at the house with “Mum! Missus is here!”

Just wait until you get to Liverpool

Is Op going to Liverpool? Grin

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle · 11/03/2019 22:20

Not any time soon Maxi but I’ll bear it in mind if I ever plan to go! Grin

Grin I’ve been. About 10 years ago. Went to flares. Lots of shots. Can’t remember a single Liverpool accent.

Drink lots of shots OP, you’ll be fine!

I get rage every time I see "the hubby" or "my hubby" on MN too

ChipsAreLife · 11/03/2019 22:56

shatners was about to say the same. And also 'hubster'. I hate any name bar husband or wife/ girlfriend/boyfriend/partner.
