I have been so shocked and upset by the drama Line of Duty.

I hadn't realised it was true,maybe naïvely, yes.

It was absolutely horrific the actual stuff that went on, the actual serving officers killed in the line of duty, and those that went to prison in the line of duty,all trying to uncover a massive cover up by men systematically abusing children in care homes.

Why wouldn't TV companies make realistic looking dramas that look authentic? Surely that is the purpose of them.

If they looked naff and were inaccurate then nobody could be arsed to watch them as they would be drivel.

I know quite a few people who have watched LOD, and read lots of discussion about it online.

You’re genuinely the first person I’ve seen who actually believed it was real. I’m not sure it’s as big a ‘thing’ as you think it is.

It is well into its many series now, and yes, it was probably talked about loads as a fantastic fictionalised series way ago.

I watched it in isolation of that.

I do feel very stupid for being so stupid, thanks.

What is the actual point of what has been called here a 'plot device'?
