To ask what Kate Middleton is really like?

Just that really. I know some of you will think ‘who cares?’ but I find her kind of intriguing. Always so well turned out/groomed, very poised, polite...I wonder what her real personality is? How does she manage so much scrutiny?

Where was the security guard bookworm?

Dapplegrey · 11/03/2019 07:41

Disorganised why do you dislike her so much?

ColeHawlins · 11/03/2019 07:57

I had heard she has long-term health problems which affect the number of public engagements she can commit to and have led to her and William being extremely interested in promoting health charities.
*
Aside doing her own make-up on her wedding day, she's not put a foot out of place since announcing their engagement.
*
Topless pregnancy photos vs. gestation period with George = you do the maths. That'll put the vapours up half of MN.

Gosh, trust a royalty thread to have industrial strength snide.

So you're implying a) that she's mentally unwell, b) she committed a dreadful faux pas by doing her own slap and c) ??? Some allegation that she once undressed while pregnant? Or something. Hard to follow and hard to care.

DelphiMum · 11/03/2019 08:06

I was at uni at the same time as them. Didn’t know them myself but everyone I knew that did always remarked on how normal, kind and down to earth they were considering the circumstances.

FenellaMaxwell · 11/03/2019 08:09

I used to work in Sloane Square and you’d often see her in Peter Jones running her own errands, picking up dry cleaning, buying school shoes etc. with a mum bag and trainers on. She seemed nice and normal, but I’ve. Or properly met her. I have met Meghan, in a professional capacity, before she was with Harry.

PenguinFeathers · 11/03/2019 09:27

FenellaMaxwell Ooh what was Meghan like??

I am just very jealous about how tall and lean Kate always looks in photos, clothes look amazing on her - the cinched in waist and almost corseted look that she manages in clothing. Everything looks immaculate.

She strikes the right balance to me of being glamorous and regal but kind and down to earth. There is a beautiful elegance to her. You just know she would always smell amazing. So polished.

SheStoopsToConker · 11/03/2019 09:31

Yes, polished is the word I'd use to describe her. I don't think she's beautiful but she's very striking and impeccably groomed. If you look pre-marriage photographs, she's definitely acquired a royal veneer over the years. Meghan, on the other hand, really is beautiful but hasn't yet acquired that royal polish. Which is fair enough as she hasn't even been a Windsor for a year!

FenellaMaxwell · 11/03/2019 09:42

@PenguinFeathers Not my cup of tea.

JammyGem · 11/03/2019 09:49

A bit outing, but DH used to cook for the Middletons fairly often at their local, and got to know the family very well. Apparently Kate was lovely, but had no idea about the real world, to the point that at times she came across as quite thick. Although this was 10/15 years ago, to be fair.

thedisorganisedmum · 11/03/2019 10:19

Dapplegrey
I am just not a fan. I know people who work in hospitality who had to work for her before her wedding and she was not pleasant at all.

I am more annoyed that she is presented as someone representing our country when her role is just to smile and wave, she has nothing to say, has achieved nothing. She looks good, she looked incredible in that Erdem tweed dress, but she is basically celebrated because of her rapid weight loss after having a baby.

I cringe. If she had married a rich man and led a private life, then fine. As a public personality with no accomplishment whatsoever, I think it's wrong.

Dapplegrey · 11/03/2019 17:47

Thank you for answering my question disorganised.

IamTheMeg · 11/03/2019 19:33

If an actress can't fake it then I'm sure Kate won't be able to and keep it up so long. I reckon she is naturally lovely and her and William are very close Smile

Ilove31415926535 · 11/03/2019 19:34

@FenellaMaxwell do you think MM deserves the flak she's getting in the media? No snark, just a genuine question. Was she horrible to you? Or just not pleasant in general? Thanks Smile

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 11/03/2019 20:10

I know someone who has spent quite a bit of time with her over recent years (on a personal basis not in a 'work' capacity) and she has only good things to say. She apparently comes across as sensible, sweet and utterly devoted to her children and to William. He is quite a tricky and impatient person with a lot of (understandable) emotional baggage and she is his absolute rock, supports and encourages him and keeps him on an even keel. From what friend-of-a-friend has said, I'm not sure she'd be much cop on a wild night out but she is clever, kind, reliable and quietly determined.

costacoffeecup · 11/03/2019 20:12

@DelphiMum me too! 👋

FenellaMaxwell · 11/03/2019 21:09

@Ilove31415926535 I don’t think anyone deserves the flak that public figures get from the press. I didn’t have to deal with her closely enough to have any sort of strong opinion, beyond her not being my cup of tea, and that others who worked with her found her behaviour challenging.

MissEliza · 12/03/2019 10:14

Fenella I love the way you word things. You don't want to give anything away nor be nasty! Very diplomatic. Now I'm dying to know where you work!

Annabk · 12/03/2019 10:26

Poised, unflappable, enjoys hunting, composed, incredibly tall IRL.

To ask what Kate Middleton is really like?
CoperCabana · 12/03/2019 12:14

Incredibly tall? She is 5ft10.

I like her outfit with the purple blouse today.

5'10 for a woman is incredibly tall.

TalkinPaece · 12/03/2019 12:49

She's a perfectly normal South West London independent school mum.
Well turned out, slim like the others, slightly above average height for that 'set'
Richer than many and going to have a better title later in life
but really nothing out of the ordinary

CoperCabana · 12/03/2019 12:52

I know women over 6ft. What does that make them?

I am just under 5ft 10. Now I feel incredible!!!

thedisorganisedmum · 12/03/2019 12:59

she is tall, but nothing out of the ordinary. She is also extremely slim, so looks taller and only wear really high heels. Look when she is surrounded by other people, she is taller than most then.
When she has to remove her heels or wedge, which she tries to avoid at all cost, she is of an average heigh. I mean 5"10 is not huge.

VladmirsPoutine · 12/03/2019 13:02

In view of the U.K average. In the Netherlands she'd be pretty average/normal height.
