To feel annoyed that I can never really indulge in food? I'm short!

Somewhat lighthearted Envy

I'm quite short, so my personal calorie allowance is very low if I don't want to put on weight!

What an absolute pile of tosh. I'm 11 pounds overweight, I was 13 pounds overweight recently. I've lost weighted easily by going by the calculated amount of calories I should be having, and sticking to those.

I log everything in Fitness Pal. It's fairly easy in theory. But bores me to tears.

Being short means I can't ever be slim unless I eat like a bird.

Anyone else?

Me too, I have just put on 5 pound recently. I am 5 ft 2, it really shows ! I love food and am a very good cook.

Awittyusernameishardtofind · 06/03/2019 20:59

I have PCOS so I can’t have any fun either 😂

MidwifeyForLifey · 06/03/2019 21:00

Food is my biggest reminder that quite literally, everything in life comes with some sort of catch Grin

Not me. I'm 6ft, 10stone. I probably do pack away a bit more than my shorter friends tbh.
Sorry!

TowerRavenSeven · 06/03/2019 21:02

Yes me. I’m 5’ 3” and if I gain 5 lbs it’s a massive amount for me. I’m currently doing iTrackBites and it does allow lots of lean protein though so I’m not physically hungry All The Time. When I did weight watchers years ago I was absolutely miserable, hungry all the time and I felt I had to constantly watch and obsess.

I so know what you are going through!

CottonSock · 06/03/2019 21:03

Yes, I'm 5'1" and it's annoying

Ivegotthree · 06/03/2019 21:03

Just exercise. You'll get into it and you'll be amazed how much you can scoff once you're burning the fat regularly.

mbosnz · 06/03/2019 21:05

I'm 155cm. Bugger that. Life is too short, to let me being short stop me from enjoying one of the most fun things in life.

I don't know what I weigh anymore. My kids were starting to get weight focussed, so I binned the scales. If I fit in my clothes, I'm all good. Funnily enough, I've gone down a couple of sizes since then.

Mamabear12 · 06/03/2019 21:06

Not to be insensitive but wouldn’t appetite be less the smaller you are? I thought so anyway! Bigger people have bigger appetite bc of their need for more calories. Of course everyone would like to eat freely as much as they want 😀 but life doesn’t work that way. Even people who can eat what they want and stay slim suffer - for example high cholesterol! I’m slim and can eat what I want, but have high cholesterol. My friend who is also slim suffers the same! And my other friend who is not able to eat what she wants has normal cholesterol in a good range (even when we had similar diets when we were younger, but I was slim and she was a little over weight).

Shakirawannabe · 06/03/2019 21:06

I'm confused im 5'3 and the national average but you lot are saying we're small??

SurgeHopper · 06/03/2019 21:06

Another one here.

Plus I have a 'sedentary' job so I'm totally screwed.

HundredMilesAnHour · 06/03/2019 21:07

Exercise is the answer. Do lots of exercise and you can eat all those calories that you burned off. Yes the exercise is hard work but it's worth it - and it's good for you. What's not to like?! Smile

HarrysOwl · 06/03/2019 21:07

I'm 5'1 and pretty much eat what I like, but I walk/hike a lot, and my diet is based on nutrition rather than calories - I definitely practice the old 80/20 ratio too.

Naturally, I never snack and eat 3 regular meals a day, and I get a good night's sleep. I think all this helps keep me fit & healthy.

PineapplePower · 06/03/2019 21:12

Lmao there’s no exercise in the world that can burn off all that I can throw down when I really get going. Luckily I’m really tall (although I usually don’t feel lucky about that Blush)

Exercise (that I can fit in whilst looking after small DC), isn't really worth all that much calories burning wise in the end, is it?

I walk pretty much everywhere. I'm on my feet all day too, a lot of the time.

I'm a very small portion eater, I like all sorts of foods but I'm full after a very small amount and stop immediately once I start to feel I'm less than enjoying what I'm eating.

Snacking is the issue, really. And I like snacking on goodies Grin

I need to make changes but shite food had an appeal to me.

I always lose loads over the summer due to an obsession with fruit and living off water and ice lollies (not literally, obviously). But I always find I weight much much less in the Summertime.

SurgeHopper · 06/03/2019 21:20

No amount of exercise could outweigh the amount of food I could potentially chuff away.

Instead I don't exercise and eat 1400 cals per day.

This is me now. I used to be a finish your plate girl.

Flutternotsoshy · 06/03/2019 21:28

Can I join? 5"3 and overweight. Use my fitness Pal, rarely go over my calories.

Also I'm type 2 diabetic. Food is both my obsession and my curse.
Since starting on insulin I've struggled to.lose weight.

(work in a safety critical job so need to keep diabetes in really good control or I lose it)

boredboredboredboredbored · 06/03/2019 21:30

I'm 5ft 3 I run 3 times per week 4-5 miles per run have done for 12 years and can still put weight in quickly. So unfair!

SmarmyMrMime · 06/03/2019 21:31

I'm 5ft 2. Running up to half marathon distance definitely helps with eating a varied diet. I've been sneaking up a pound or two over the last few years with the cumulative effects of Easter, Christmas, school holidays where the calories go up and exercise opportunities go down and I lose my balance of input/ output.

I couldn't face daily calorie counting to bring myself back to my happy zone, so I'm trying 5:2 to redress the balance. It's definitely harder this side of 35 than it was on the youthful side of it!

I can feel and see I'm carrying more than I need by BMI 24 and my joints are definitely happier if I keep to 22-23. It's irritating because I want to be healthy and slim, but life is too long to not enjoy less wholesome foods along the way Wink

Bohbell · 06/03/2019 21:32

I cant indulge either, not coz of weight but because i cant tolerate rich food or v much alcohol. Makes it hard going out to eat. Even a sinle course with a single glass large wine will give me a hang over. A packet of crisps makes me feel like shite. The upside is that I am slim tho!!

Oblomov19 · 06/03/2019 21:33

Me. Very small. Put on weight very easily. Hate that, with a passion!! AngryAngryAngry

Billballbaggins · 06/03/2019 21:34

Another shorty here I can eat as much as my 6foot DH but I pack on weight so easily I need to basically eat nothing to lose weight 😭

JuniperGins · 06/03/2019 21:34

Ok, this is not to gloat, so don’t take me wrong- as a tall women I accept it’s easier and sympathise. I’m 5ft 11 and I can hide the best part of a stone weight change. I can see it must be tough and I see it in my sister.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 06/03/2019 21:35

I feel your pain. 4ft11 here and losing weight is near impossible without eating ridiculously tiny amounts. Snacking is my downfall too.
