Nappies flagrantly lie. Using Pampers 4s at the moment, been using those for night previously and Aldi for daytime but aibu to think it's all complete hogwash.?Hmm

Is there a nappy out there that will get my 90th centile for length baby through the night without him waking up wet? 4 month sleep regression and building works not helping, I'm so exhausted I am getting depressed.

I have some bambino miosolo reuseables but due to building works no washing machine but that will change soon, so I'm open to them.

I found premium protection better than baby dry for my little one so might be worth trying some different nappies. You wouldn’t think there would be a big difference even within one brand so it’s maybe worth trying to get some free samples or a small pack to try.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 04/03/2019 22:04

I thought this was going to be about alcohol and was going to agree that going without for 12 hours doesn't really constitute being dry. 🤣

frenchonion · 04/03/2019 22:06

Reusables are the way to go then. Little lamb are good. Fleece liner nearest the skin and it wicks away all moisture, then couple of bamboo and microfiber inserts underneath. Bamboo is super absorbant and holds loads, but microfiber are quicker to absorb so I used one of each. Then fleece pants over top (or even just fleece pj bottoms. Bomb proof! Just remember to wash the nappies and inserts a few times first if you're buying them new, as it takes a few washes to get them to be really absorbant.

OP my DS was long and slim and leaked though the 'correct' size nappy for weight at night. I always sized up at night, sometimes two sizes. Then, when he got to the top size by age 1 started adding a reusable insert. He still uses that at 2, but doesn't drink in the night now, but still manages to soak it. He never seemed bothered by wet nappies though. The 4 month sleep regression is horrible. It will end.
By all means try going down a size and different brands, but in my experience some babies just wee more. I sized down again on advice like you have been given and had to deal with puddles of urine after a couple of hours. The larger the nappy, the bigger the capacity, you just need to do the tabs up tight enough!

MummySharkBabyShark · 04/03/2019 22:35

From that picture the nappy looks too big around the legs and could leak from there. But that is not your problem.

I think when they stop having milk in the Night you generally can stop changing the nappies but until then they will fill up. Have you tried changing the nappy before the feed?

BertieBotts · 06/03/2019 20:46

I've been thinking of you OP as I think our babies are in cahoots Grin

We'd been using Pampers Premium at night since he was born as one of DH's friends had raved about them but the last week or so for three nights in a row he'd leaked over the leg and ended up soaked down one side. Whether we sized up too early I don't know, the 3s seemed too small in any case. So I put him in an own brand nappy last night, the ones we use during the day, and he was repeatedly unsettled from about 4am so I reckon he was feeling uncomfortably wet then. He really doesn't like having an overfull nappy during the day and will complain about it (whereas DS1 never gave a fig) - perhaps it will make them easier to potty train??

I would defo recommend trying the Pampers Premium Protection (not Baby Dry - your picture looks like Baby Dry) if it's the wet feeling he doesn't like. See if that helps. I'd do size 3 because their weight boundaries are different to other brands, even other Pampers varieties. But if it doesn't work I'd just plan in one overnight nappy change. DH used to come to bed around 2am and before he went to sleep he'd quickly take DS2 and change him when he went through a phase of being extra sensitive at night. You could work in a change around the time you/DH go to bed so that it isn't too disturbing for anyone even if it takes a while to settle him again afterwards.

I don't think night changes are anything to do with night feeds - certainly I stopped night changes many, many months before night feeds ended with both of mine.

Size 4 sounds very big for a four month old?

Have you tried the nappy pants?

Inglenooks · 06/03/2019 22:46

Does he feed through the night a lot? My 8mo was waking up wet in Morrisons nappies (but not Asda ones) until she reduced her number of night feeds. It's made a massive difference to how heavy her nappy is - think she was feeding for comfort and weeing most of it out!

TBDO · 06/03/2019 23:06

The nappy looks very long down his legs in that pic - was it full? I think he might be uncomfortable from all the extra nappy material.

He might need a smaller size and for you to pull out all the frilly edges - they look like they might be tucked in on the photo but can’t see properly. He might be more comfortable with a closer fitting nappy.

Milly345 · 06/03/2019 23:17

Just change the nappy in the middle of the night. I have always done it with my 3 boys 9 out of ten nights.. the just 4 year old is not dry at night and still change his. They all slept through it.
Asda nappies are the Best, they are all pretty much the same .
