Nappies flagrantly lie. Using Pampers 4s at the moment, been using those for night previously and Aldi for daytime but aibu to think it's all complete hogwash.?Hmm

Is there a nappy out there that will get my 90th centile for length baby through the night without him waking up wet? 4 month sleep regression and building works not helping, I'm so exhausted I am getting depressed.

I have some bambino miosolo reuseables but due to building works no washing machine but that will change soon, so I'm open to them.

My last baby was just one of those who saved their wee up until nighttime. Huge, heavy, saggy nappies down to the knees by morning. I think, sometimes, it’s as much the child as the nappy.

midgwit · 04/03/2019 08:39

Are you sure the nappy isn't too big? My son was in 4's just before he was potty trained and he was almost 3. I know you mentioned your baby being long, but even a 90th centile 4 month old wouldn't be anywhere near the height of an almost 3 year old (saw a pp also mentioned her 3 year old is in 4+ which is the same size).

LaurieMarlow · 04/03/2019 08:39

In my experience different nappies work for different children. And pampers were fucking useless for all of mine.

Try a few different brands for best ‘fit’.

Wallsbangers · 04/03/2019 08:41

Aldi here. Is it the right size vest? Too tight seems to make the pee squeeze out.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 04/03/2019 08:41

My DS is 90th %. At 4 months when he woke for a feed, we always changed his nappy. Then the milk would relax him back to sleep and we’d know he was comfortable and he’d wake for milk rather than discomfort. Now he’s in size 7 and sleeps through but wakes up soaked! So I agree nappy claims are rubbish. We always use pampers. Good luck OP

JaffacakesAreCakesNotBiscuits · 04/03/2019 08:41

Aldi 5+ for my 1 Yr old. 22lb baby.
Never ever had a leaked one. I make a trip to aldi especially for them

overtheirishsea · 04/03/2019 08:43

Pampers 4+ are brilliant and last over 12 hours. I've been using them on my son for a year now and no problems

KittyB52 · 04/03/2019 08:44

Aldi worked for us for ages, then suddenly they didn’t seem to fit, even sizing up. We switched to Sainsburys and they seem much better - I think it’s because the fastenings have a bit of stretch in them? DD is almost 2 and in size 5+.

Lizaelna · 04/03/2019 08:45

Pampers are shite, Aldi or Asda have never failed me.

Tinkobell · 04/03/2019 08:48

Ring the procter & gamble helpline see what they say.....I thought there were laws in place against flagrantly bullshit product claims?

Darkstar4855 · 04/03/2019 08:48

Size 4 seems large for a 14lb baby - my 3 month old is 14lb and still in a size 2! He’s done 8 hours without a leak but not slept for 12 yet.

ChampooPapi · 04/03/2019 09:01

@dementedpixie agree. He should be in size 3. My baby is 98th centile and very talented and was I'm size 3 at this age

Threeminis · 04/03/2019 09:01

I used to double up on nappies with ds at night. Never found a nappy that would hold overnight

ChampooPapi · 04/03/2019 09:02

Lol, *tall not talented

ChampooPapi · 04/03/2019 09:04

The nappy is obviously far to big which is why it's leaking. Mine is in pampers 4 and is over a year now, sleeps 12 hours and never leaks so definitely far to big for a 4 month old

BertieBotts · 04/03/2019 09:05

My 6mo doesn't sleep 12 either but we try not to change his nappy at night. He's been leaking out of Pampers PP size 4 though the last few nights, which is annoying because we had ordered a whole 100 pack from amazon. But he's heavy, 8.5kg. I think the shape of them just changes as they grow and legs get more/less chunky. Be aware that Pampers sizes are different to other brands. I'd try size 3, and size 4 and/or 4+ in various own brands.

The wording is something like "Up to 12 hours" so it's BS though really.

Cookit · 04/03/2019 09:06

2 years 8 months, only ever soaked through an overnight nappy about 3 times. So yeah, for us they work.

jaseyraex · 04/03/2019 09:07

6 month old DS is 16lb and in pampers baby dry size 3 over night. Incredibly full by morning, but never had a leak yet. He's also 91st for height. Are you sure a 4 fits properly? Maybe it's gaping and letting the wee out? I think size 3 does 13-22lb. I have a friend who swears by putting two nappies on at night though, you could try that.

Cookit · 04/03/2019 09:07

And we’re still in size 4 at 2-3 years old!

Littlebelina · 04/03/2019 09:08

Yes my 14lb 4 month old is in a 2 so that nappy seems big (although was the weight or age a typo as dd is under the 50% at that weight?)

BertieBotts · 04/03/2019 09:09

I've just checked our stash. Pampers Premium size 4 are for 9kg/20lbs+. Own brand nappies (German) size 4 are for 7kg+

ChampooPapi · 04/03/2019 09:10

Nappys do need to be a snug fit, sometimes I think people size up before their baby is ready. Mine is 98th centile so it completely boggles my mind how a 4 month old is not in size 2/3 pampers.

Surly how long they are also isn't that important as they fit the tiny waist

babyworry2018 · 04/03/2019 09:13

My 17 lb 4 month old is in size 3s and they are lasting her 12 hours - we recently switched from pampers to Lidl as she's also v tall and the fit doesn't seem quite right from a comfort level but they can hold a huge amount. I think you're sizing too big.

ChampooPapi · 04/03/2019 09:14

My baby is 26 pounds and in size 4 so she's fairly robust. Can understand how this baby is wet all night, he must be swimming in size 4. Also size 2 are better value as you get more, size down op !

SarahAndQuack · 04/03/2019 09:15

I think they all just have different-shaped bottoms. Nappies need to be snug, but they shouldn't be so tight they are making them sore, and if you've got a child who does enormous wees it's sometimes easier to size up and fasten them snug but not uncomfortable, rather than keeping to the weight-appropriate size.

This said, now mine's started doing the occasional wee in her potty I can sorta see why the nappies don't cope. How do they fit that much liquid in?! Where does it go? Confused
