To tell him he is crap

I have a male Maine Coon, the largest domestic cat breed there is, who currently weighs about 10 kg and isn't fat. Earlier in the week we got a tad concerned as he wasn't eating, not moving around much and yowling when we tried to pick him up. As concerned owner's we took him to the vet to be told he'd been fighting, had obviously lost and was now sulking! £60 and some precautionary antibiotics later AIBU to think he's a bit crap, a bit of a wuss and needs a stern talking to? Grin

We have a Norwegian who is 7.5kg when fit and healthy. Note that when. He was diagnosed with diabetes in September last year and is currently on course with his adjusted dose of insulin.

But. And it is a big but: He spent 5 days in vet hospital. The cost? Just over 4k. Thankfully insured.

But I take wuss moping over all of that angst!

notagoodidea · 01/03/2019 19:33

He is on antibiotics for this week as a just in case. But has almost forgotten the sulking and is back to normal this afternoon after almost a week of moping about

LOOK AT THAT BIG FLOOF! I love him OP. They are such great cats. What’s his name?

notagoodidea · 01/03/2019 19:54

He was named Boo when we got him, I guess because he is white as a ghost

We had a cat that leapt off a wall into the side of a passing car.
£480later ......all he'd done was bitten his tongue 😳🙄😡

user1473878824 · 01/03/2019 19:59

Scream I love him so much

Samind · 01/03/2019 20:01

Maybe he needs some sort of confidence classes? And possibly some life affirmations.....

notagoodidea · 01/03/2019 20:07

Owch DaffydownClock

Good idea Samind but if fetch the ball is to complicated for him at the moment it might be a tad tricky getting the concepts across. Might be fun trying though Grin

Haha, this totally made me laugh.
I have a half Maine Coon who is huge, but a stupid, giant fluffy baby.
He just wants to be picked up and carried around.
I've never known such a woosy, wimp of a cat, and I have four.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/03/2019 20:12

Mine is named Zazzles.
Everyone adores him because of his giant cute fluffiness, but he's honestly ridiculous.
My tough girl cats are betterjoke, we adore him

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/03/2019 20:14

Bloody hell. I had no idea cats came that big!

Go on Google and put in the word "lion" or "tiger". You'll be blown away when you see those whoppers.

CharlieandLolaCat · 01/03/2019 21:34

I have what I think are two Norwegian crosses. They are massive. And fluff balls. Charlie is nearly 6kg and Lola about 5.5kg and there is the teeniest tiniest cat that loves round here that sends them flying every time they see him. Is pathetic. But gratuitous photos .....

Aw I love the pictures! Id love a big hairy furball! My little rescue moggie is a tiny thing as he was born into a feral colony. I hand reared him from about 4 weeks after finding him and his sisters.

Lovingbenidorm · 01/03/2019 22:15

Now THATS a cat!

To tell him he is crap
EstrellaDamn · 01/03/2019 22:18

I took my cat to the vet because he wouldn't look at me for 6 weeks. We eventually traced it back to his emotional trauma. I.e he peed on my leg and I laughed at him. Confused

Toddlerteaplease · 01/03/2019 22:38

Has anyone come across Obie on the litter tray section? He's an enormous ginger MC who has 4 'wives' and refuses to be groomed! He's gorgeous!

MzHz · 01/03/2019 22:53

My cats veterinary assistant was a semi professional boxer

Often when my cat had been injured in a fight (usually winning) the veterinary assistant would be even more bashed up than the cat was!

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 01/03/2019 23:02

Years ago, my naughty Siamese puss was howling in pain and had a blister on the end of his nose.

On further investigation he'd stolen a lamb chop that was cooking under the grill and burnt his nose and inside his mouth. Poor thing was in agony.

Cost me £90 at the emergency vets, one painkilling injection and he was fine! Smile

He went over the rainbow bridge a few weeks ago, and he was 17 years old. RIP Mad Milo you were the funniest cat ever.

ScreamingValenta · 02/03/2019 00:05

ilovewelshrarebit123 Flowers Siamese cats have such huge personalities, you must miss him very much.
