To tell him he is crap

I have a male Maine Coon, the largest domestic cat breed there is, who currently weighs about 10 kg and isn't fat. Earlier in the week we got a tad concerned as he wasn't eating, not moving around much and yowling when we tried to pick him up. As concerned owner's we took him to the vet to be told he'd been fighting, had obviously lost and was now sulking! £60 and some precautionary antibiotics later AIBU to think he's a bit crap, a bit of a wuss and needs a stern talking to? wow OP, that is an impressive cat!! No wonder every now and then a 'puma' or 'leopard' is spotted in parts of rural England, probably the likes of your guy on a morning stroll.

@Aprilshowersarecomingsoon - I am flabbergasted. A human private consultant would not even come close to charging that. My Dog had a complete bowel operation and 2 weeks of tablets, stitches removal and post op checkup for 200 euros. You are being ripped off, I think.

julensaor, vet fees in the UK are horrible, especially of they know it is an insurance claim

We had a beautiful Mainecoon who was just as big. He broke the cat flap so we had to install a dog flap. His trick was to roll over on command. Or if he fancied a treat which was the reward when he did it on command , he would just roll over for one. He had us very well trained. He sadly became suddenly parLysed in his back legs one day and had to be put down. We now have a female maincoon who won’t roll over but would talk the hind leg off a donkey all day long. She has a phrase for everything! She is a beautiful Silver/ white tabby , he was a brown and white tabby. Sorry don’t seem to be able to access any photos right now

I've got Persians. If you think MC's are not very bright, you should meet my pair!

We have a part Maine Coon. He has a wonderful temperament but does seem susceptible to low mood.the last time we went away for two weeks he started pining and was off his food and was in a right state by the time we got back.

Our cats have lately been being terrorised by a new cat (new cat is actually lovely but super friendly and doesn't seem to want to follow normal cat rules about territory at all!). Our cat has again started becoming a bit low and off his food and feeling a bit skinny.

Think he might need therapy.

Maine Coons are gorgeous! Do they eat significantly more than a standard sized moggie?

VampirateQueen · 02/03/2019 15:07

My cat is part Maine Coon. He is about the size yours was when he was 1. We didn't know when we bought him, just when he wouldn't stop growing. He is incredibly dumb and a massive whimp, he is also a big softie and very loving.

I would love a cat like yours ... sadly husband is very allergic.
