Have any of you actually seen it for yourself? Or is it an internet hoax?

Sorry meant to say that this info came from the school not friends.

sagradafamiliar · 27/02/2019 19:14

Bunch I'm going to ask for mine to be pulled out of the planned 'e safety talk on what to do if momo pops up in videos telling you to do things' honestly it is so ridiculous. Why plant it in children's minds?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/02/2019 19:20

True or not its a good opportunity to have (yet another!) internet safety chat 😁

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/02/2019 19:21

That face is super scary though

Bellasorellaa · 27/02/2019 19:23

It’s been around for over a year

Stopandlook · 27/02/2019 19:33

My child wouldn’t have seen the image if there hadn’t been all the hysteria on social media. Schools should have done more research.

I’ve seen no solid proof that it’s anything but bored kids pissing around with each other. Anyone can download the momo image and boom they are evil momo. I’ve not seen a single video. Frankly teach your children not to do what strangers tell them. Even if momo is trying to get people to hurt themselves it’s the person who is hurting themselves not momo. They are being easily led/scared.

I’ve had the chat witch included that if they ever truely truely believe something Xbox/Alexa/tv/Nintendo has someone listening in to them to get me in the back garden where no such devices are and tell me.

My ds friend yr6 wants to go hunt out momo thanks to all the publicity.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 27/02/2019 19:41

Can any of those on this thread who claim to have seen it actually post a link to the video they have seen it in?

All of the ‘news’ stories use the same wording. It’s been around 12+ months, surely by now they could have some more substantiated evidence?

MsJuniper · 27/02/2019 19:42

I haven't seen anyone able to post a link to a video where it's happened.

sickmumma · 27/02/2019 19:42

Idiots keep posting about it on my Facebook and that's all I've seen of it and the only place that seems to be drawing attention to it!

ketchupormayo · 27/02/2019 19:42

YouTube has been hacked and it's coming up when kids are watching it it's on YouTube kids. 2 kids have killed themselves in America because of it, it's a real thing

zen1 · 27/02/2019 19:43

DCs secondary school sent a memo out today about it and stressing the importance of internet safety.

sagradafamiliar · 27/02/2019 19:43

Sure.

raffle · 27/02/2019 19:43

Letter home from school today regarding this.

Apparently one of the children seen it (not sure if at school or home)

Prequelle · 27/02/2019 19:44

YouTube has not been hacked, Jesus Christ almighty.

No kids have killed themselves either. You're contributing to the hysteria. It was an urban legend but thanks to the media and hysterical parents idiots have decided to create YouTube videos with Momo in to scare kids. No hacking just trolling.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 27/02/2019 19:44

I haven't seen anything I asked the 7 year old if any one at school had mentioned seeing anything scary on the internet and got a 'nope'

Lougle · 27/02/2019 19:49

DD3's junior school held an upper school assembly (Y5 & Y6) giving them a general internet safety message of "It's ok to say no on the internet.", but not mentioning Momo, which I thought was a good way to handle it.

DD1 & DD2 are both at secondary schools. Their schools both sent out briefings with police info.

slashlover · 27/02/2019 19:55

YouTube themselves have come out on twitter to say it's nonsense.

spugzbunny · 27/02/2019 19:55

Half the problem is people who have no internet knowledge and think that some could be bothered to hack a reputable YouTube Chanel, insert a clip in a video of theirs somehow for children to find for what gain?

The only videos you will find will be people who have made them because of this scare! All this hysteria is a self fulfilling prophecy

slashlover · 27/02/2019 19:57

I posted this in the other thread.

To wonder if Momo actually exists
thinkfast · 27/02/2019 20:02

If it's not a real threat why are the bbc reporting it and why are the police issuing guidance about it?

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-northern-ireland-47359623

Prequelle · 27/02/2019 20:04

Because people are idiots and they've made the Momo challenge become real by going on about it so much. It wasn't a thing before, now it is because trolls have realised how much reaction they can get from people

slashlover · 27/02/2019 20:05

Have you seen any of these videos then? Have you seen links to any of these videos? Any proof at all?

spugzbunny · 27/02/2019 20:05

@thinkfast because I think in this case, the police are also a bit internet stupid.

I do applaud the suggestion to consider wider internet safety
