To report family member for tax/ins/MOT.

He has none of the above. He parks in the street. He hasn't driven it since he was caught in October for driving without all three, as well as no licence (banned for speeding). Still paying fines for all of those.

He says no one can make him do any of the above and he can't afford to, so doesn't care.

I guess it's causing no one any harm, but it is still illegal...am I just being a bitch?

At least he's stopped driving it... (Are you sure??)

If he can't afford to tax/MOT/insure it, then he should either sell it or move it off the public highway.

Sure, no-one can make him pay with money he doesn't have, but they can give him points until he's banned. Or imprison him for non payment.

Well I've told him that but he seems to think he can do what he likes. It's so frustrating!

Drogosnextwife · 26/02/2019 19:38

So why would you report him if he's not driving the car?

What a good family member you are!

IvanaPee · 26/02/2019 19:43

Wow. Why would you do this?

mineofuselessinformation · 26/02/2019 19:44

If he gets it SORNed he needs to remove it from the public highway.

springwashing · 26/02/2019 20:04

Because he goes around boasting that no one will catch him and he can do what he likes. He thinks it's hilarious that "you suckers" pay for all that and he doesn't have to. He's driven before in this state, who knows he isn't now?

You're certainly not a bitch, what a dreadful thing for a pp to say. It is wrong and completely illegal and he should not be keeping it on a public road. If he won't listen to reason, then yes, I think you should report him.

CosmicCanary · 26/02/2019 20:08

You already said he has not driven it. It is parked up.

Stop being an arse and get a new hobby.

Santaclarita · 26/02/2019 20:08

Yes report him. The people saying don't are idiots.

What he is doing is illegal. If he hasn't declared it as SORN and taken it off the road, it is illegal.

He probably is driving it too. To the ones who said don't report, how upset are you going to be if you get into a crash with him and find out he ain't got no insurance? Cost for repairs has to come out of your pocket then. Still feeling OK about it?

springwashing · 26/02/2019 20:12

Exactly. It's one thing if you forget your MOT has expired or something. But to blatantly not pay for any of those things for over a year now, even when you've been caught already, and then to laugh at you for doing so...

OP posts:
JudgeRindersMinder · 26/02/2019 20:14

Just report it through the YouGov website-it’s easy

CosmicCanary · 26/02/2019 20:15

Fine get off mn and report him then...what you want a round of applause and a medal?

lboogy · 26/02/2019 20:18

Glad you're not a relative of mine! You're out of line. Find something else to do with your time

Alsohuman · 26/02/2019 20:19

Nasty. And unnecessary.

missmouse101 · 26/02/2019 20:28

What a bunch of charmers on here tonight Hmm. OP, your relative is in the wrong, screwing the system and acting like a tosser. You are not. Yes, please report him. Why is he above the law?

Soontobe60 · 26/02/2019 20:28

If it's parked on a public highway it needs to be taxed. A neighbour of mine has had his van clamped twice for not taxing it. I don't know if anyone reported him.

Santaclarita · 26/02/2019 20:40

I bet those still saying you're unreasonable would be straight on here whining if they got into a crash with an uninsured car and now have a huge bill. They wouldn't be quite so high and mighty then.

AnnieHawk · 26/02/2019 20:43

@CosmicCanary - the clue is in the name - Statutory OFF ROAD Notification. If you've SORNd something it can't be on the road, even parked up.

Alsohuman · 26/02/2019 20:44

The only way a parked car is going to be involved in a crash is if another one hits it which would be entirely the fault of the driver of the moving car.

springwashing · 26/02/2019 20:46

He was driving before, who knows he isn't now? It's not necessarily always parked. I just assume it is since he's already been caught and I would hope nobody is that stupid.

He was caught before driving 5yo DD around.

I have to say, I'm with you OP.
I'd quite happily pay car tax pro rata for the time that I'm using public roads, but it doesn't quite work like that, does it?
