To wonder why Sajid Jarvis was so quick to remove Shamima Begum’s British nationality

But has done nothing about removing Asma Assad’s? Asma Assad is a dual British-Syrian National, so why not deprive her (and her kids) of British nationality? I can’t quite believe that the government hasn’ Done this. Why on Earth not?

The fact that SB was brought up and educated here doesn't mean that she and her family have British cultural values. Plenty of young Asian British teenagers go to Pakistan/Bangladesh for an extended holiday and return with a husband.

The age of consent in this context is a minor consideration. If it matters, it's v likely that SB had turned 16 by the time she married. (15 when she left in December, 19 when she reappeared, Jan/Feb) She said she was v happy with her husband. There are many places in the world where the age of consent is lower than in the UK and, even here, the age of criminal responsibility is different in Scotland.

Apologies for nit-picking, but the cries of 'She was a child. She was groomed. She was raped' are excusing her actions as if she had no agency or responsibility. Whatever part her uncle played, there's no evidence at all that he and her mother encouraged her to run away.

I think eventually there will be a camp of some sort for foreign members of ISIS, on the lines of Guantanamo, possibly under UN jurisdiction, to try to sort out the mess.

brassbrass · 23/02/2019 20:35

Suffice to say, over the last few days Shamima’s situation has been described as ‘a tragedy’ and posters have insisted that she is the victim.

You do need to provide evidence for this level of bullshit.

TheresACatInMyLaundryBasket · 23/02/2019 20:35

And thinking about the damage she could do, that’s going to be fairly minimal in Bangladesh Almost everybody she will come into contact with will be a Sunni Muslim which generally will mean she thinks they deserve to carry on living. In this country she probably won’t believe the majority of the population deserve to live. It’s a no brainer.

The vast majority of ISIS victims are/were Muslim (including Sunni). ISIS killed anybody who didn't subscribe to their own warped views of religion.

Right

See ive read the same thread, and ive not seen one single person saying

We should let her get away with this

No one has said it...even people who have said she has been groomed etc haven't said it

So you can get as tired as you please...no one has said this

And to be very very fair to you...someone on this these thread might possibly have said it and ive missed it

But in the absence of any proof im gonna stick with my...no one has said this statement

TalkinPeece · 23/02/2019 20:36

Budsbeg
I think you will find that the consensus among those who actually think about such things is

  • let her get to a UK consulate
  • repatriate her to the UK
  • remove her child
  • try and jail her for terrorism
to warn others
Budsbegginingspringinsight · 23/02/2019 20:42

Btw I was reading earlier about a young Isis bride in the camps. She had been married (community arranged) before she ended up in the caliphate. Her husband told her they were going on holiday too turkey.... they ended up in Syria. she had baby few months old.... she tried to escape and he tracked her down...think he's dead now... she's stuck in a camp. She hates Isis...hates her dead husband... and wants too Go home.

Btw ... I don't understand the pp poster saying this girls culture and family have no bearing on marriage, age Etc because she was born here.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that simply being born on British soil is a more powerful infusion of values and tradition And freedom's than her family's culture????

Imissgmichael · 23/02/2019 20:43

Talkinpeace nope the news says her mum wasn’t a british citizen when SB was born.

Brass a returning Jihadi was given a council house. She jumped the lists. Nah I don’t read the daily mail. Well except when they tried to get justice for Stephen Lawrence. Not the right type of person for you is it? Pathetic.

KissingInTheRain · 23/02/2019 20:43

Talkin

I agree with you. That’s essentially my take on this, because that’s the most productive outcome for us.

But if others think the better option is to throw SB on her other citizen state, that’s neither immoral nor illegal.

Imissgmichael · 23/02/2019 20:44

thats awful Bud. Poor kid.

TalkinPeece · 23/02/2019 20:46

@imissgmichael
well I'm glad that you and your fellow racist bigots are happy with dog whistle politics against
first generation economic migrants such as myself
cross your fingers and toes that nobody treats you as you would treat others

brassbrass · 23/02/2019 20:46

Is that hearsay or something that actually happened? Evidence? WTF has Stephen Lawrence got to do with this? You're not making any sense

TheresACatInMyLaundryBasket · 23/02/2019 20:47

Talkinpeece, that's my opinion, too. But I don't think she'd get a fair trial- although, would she need one? She's already admitted to being a member of a proscribed terrorist group on national television.

BejamNostalgia · 23/02/2019 20:47

Where has this happened? Which returning IS twat got a hug and a kiss and social housing FFS. Stick to stuff that's really happened cos you know we don't live in an imaginary world.

Go and look up ‘Operation Constrain’. Recommendation for that include ISIS returnees being allowed to jump social housing queues, given counselling and help to find jobs.

There are reports some are already in social housing. One returnee has had her child taken away but has been given a flat in London even though most single women without children or serious health problems wouldn’t be housed.

KissingInTheRain · 23/02/2019 20:50

well I'm glad that you and your fellow racist bigots are happy with dog whistle politics against first generation economic migrants such as myself cross your fingers and toes that nobody treats you as you would treat others

This is the mirror image of stupid accusations of siding with terrorists if you disagree with the Home Office’s decision.

Unless you commit appalling crimes you won’t be considered for rejection as s British citizen.

WINDRUSH

Budsbegginingspringinsight · 23/02/2019 20:51

Thymeout that makes sense too me.

IE all foreign fighters kept out there until verification for stories and lies...can be sought.

I don't understand how bringing terrorists back here will mean justice can be done out there ie scattering them too four wind's.

Poster s like Bertrand and Saturdays Etc seem more obsessed with getting her on UK soil than actually getting to the bottom of what's gone on out there and what they have actually done.

It's been chaos.. victims have been killed, tortured Etc still scared... victims too are lost in camps.
It makes much more sense too me too Keep the terrorists in one place and then.. gather evidence and statements from victims and go from there.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/02/2019 20:54

Talkinpeace nope the news says her mum wasn’t a british citizen when SB was born

She didnt have to be a British citizen

As i said earlier

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/02/2019 20:56

That windrush business was and is a fucking travesty

KissingInTheRain · 23/02/2019 20:56

Windrush? Oh FFS.

That was a disgraceful episode. But it had nothing to do with dual nationality and religio-genocidal crimes.

TalkinPeece · 23/02/2019 20:57

Neither of my parents were British when I was born
Neither of my parents was in the UK when I was born
One of my parents still does not live in the UK
I only became British as an adult

but I'm white
so the racists on threads like this do not spot me Grin

BejamNostalgia · 23/02/2019 20:57

Rufus posted on the morning of the 20th around 8:30am after SB citizenship was revoked:

Even if you think this is the right thing to do surely it’s still a bloody tragedy and it’s not appropriate to be so triumphalist about it?

Talkin you have no Idea about the colour of anyone on here their colour or who their married to etc.

I'm not getting how it's racist but this is the problem when you..or anyone only looks at the world from one view point.

Jihad I jack is now winging about coming back. he's White.... I and I'm sure any poster who doesn't want sb back similarly will also not want him back . unless he faces justice and jail.

Unfortunately we have over crowded prisons and keeping People with dangerous links and ideology separate is a problem.

Very clear links between preachers of hate and actual murder are there... IE people at the speeches who went into bomb and kill.

TheresACatInMyLaundryBasket · 23/02/2019 21:04

Imissgmichael

I don't know enough about the whole Stepphen Lawrence case (I was very young at the time) and the role the DM played in justice for him. However, if that's the case, it doesn't cancel out the bad the DM has done. Things don't work like that.

brassbrass · 23/02/2019 21:06

Lots of documents dated 2017 saying planned to implement in 2018. Hard to say whether they began implementing or not although admittedly makes for uncomfortable reading. My view is the same though why not save your energy for challenging that plan and pushing for prosecution?

One IS minion isn't going to solve our terrorist threats. Syrians don't have the resources to maintain that camp forever. She might end up free and join another ragtag group until IS resurface. Ready to pick up where she left off. We need a better strategy that holds these people to account.
