I would say pink lady if they weren't so expensive.
Galas are the worst.

Cox Oranges taste the appliest !

Jencottage · 22/02/2019 21:17

I also eat the whole apple - seeds and all - love the marzipan taste of seeds !

bellinisurge · 22/02/2019 21:22

Egremont Russet. I even bought a little tree years ago and as a consequence of my tender loving care, I get, maybe, one apple a yearGrin

JaneJeffer · 22/02/2019 21:35

Tell Braeburns to stop eating your apples.

Loyaultemelie · 22/02/2019 22:19

Egremont Russets by far the best followed by Braeburn followed by Granny Smiths.
Gala and Golden Delicious are horrible

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2019 22:21

Braeburns are my favourite because they are crisp & tangy.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 22/02/2019 22:21

Pink Lady are the best eating apple. The best baking and crumble apples are the Jonathan seedling (heritage species) apples from my parents' orchard in rural Victoria, Oz.

StripeyDeckchair · 22/02/2019 22:22

Russetts are the best apple.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 22/02/2019 22:23

My parents also have amazing quince trees which taste far better than anything I've ever had store bought

ethelfleda · 22/02/2019 22:33

Fluffy tasteless galas aren’t proper galas. Proper galas are small crunchy chunks of heaven.

Hoppahouse · 22/02/2019 22:44

Pink Lady are delicious, but our family favourite is Granny Smith - we eat the tangy apple slices with cheese slices - yum! 🍏

PrismGuile · 22/02/2019 22:48

Agreed, Braeburns are tart and crisp!

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/02/2019 22:59

Worcesters eaten off the tree have a hint of strawberries about them. Herrings Pippin taste as if they've been sprinkled with cinnamon. Brownlees Russet have that lovely russet taste, and deep pink blossom - a really pretty tree.

Amazonfromkent · 22/02/2019 23:07

Yes they are. Crunchy, juicy, fresh and tangy.

SamanthaBrique · 22/02/2019 23:14

Red ladies are no1. All the rest fight for the right to parrrrrttttyyyy

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 23/02/2019 19:02

Definitely Russets. The rest of you don't deserve apples if you can't see this. Pink Lady are crap.

UtterlyDesperate · 23/02/2019 19:02

Yep, Russets all the way!

Quinces, as PP have said, are also great - but aren't apples...

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 24/02/2019 19:57

We had a quince tree in our old house, first autumn we were there DH came back in from the garden looking green and said '"don't eat anything from that pear tree, they're really nasty pears" Grin

UtterlyDesperate · 24/02/2019 20:29

Who Grin

MrsWicket · 24/02/2019 22:24

Another vote for Russets here. They are divine.

Silkyanduna · 24/02/2019 22:39

No Granny Smiths are best Braeburns are to furry

JaceLancs · 24/02/2019 22:57

Granny Smith are the best

GlitterPixie · 24/02/2019 23:07

I love an Elstar - I think it’s a variant of Cox’s Orange Pippin
