AIBU to ask what will actually happen on 29th March... Will we have John Snow narrating a countdown to armegedon? ?

Genuine question. How do you think the media will cover it?
Will it be a countdown and then lights out?
Will it be programming as normal?
Will radio be playing poignant tunes?
I'm personally hoping the likes of the Mash Report and Last Leg will be on air to see me through

@Gormless, can I join you, please? Obviously i’ll bring my own olives and chorizo.

Gormless · 22/02/2019 10:32

@Alsohuman Totally. Hope you’re a good shot. If not, you’ve got just over a month to practice Smile

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 10:33

Champagne? Fizzy French wine? Is that wise? Saving some of that smelly foreign cheese just for you surfer. Hope you dont get indigestion.

Budsbegginingspringinsight · 22/02/2019 10:34

....a retaliatory smearing of pesto....

FermatsTheorem · 22/02/2019 10:36

Haven't got all the way through the thread yet, but Gormless's suggestion of driving round with the windows down playing Ode to Joy has conjured an insane vision in my head of Gormless in a hotrod decked out in EU blue and gold stars, and Boris Johnson in a purple hotrod, both done out like characters from Grease (no idea what you look like, Gormless, but I'm sure you'd rock the look), with Bozza playing Vera Lynn singing "There'll be blue birds over... the white cliffs of Dover..."

Gormless · 22/02/2019 10:38

@Hexagonalbattenburg Excellent plan. The resistance will be launched to a soundtrack of ace of base and Dana’s All Kinds of Everything (remind me of EU)

Gormless · 22/02/2019 10:38

Fermats- you’ve already seen my car??!

FermatsTheorem · 22/02/2019 10:39

Oh, I'm so glad it's like that WinkGrin - you've made my day. (Incidentally Bozza will not rock the Grease look).

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 10:51

Go gormless, sounding good. I'm bringing a sack of baguettes and garlic just in case of opposition.

StroppyWoman · 22/02/2019 10:53

Can I run behind you all catching (and stockpiling) the olives?

Gormless · 22/02/2019 10:56

Baguettes- now that’s heavy artillery. Wait till they’re a few days old for maximum impact. And stroppy- good thinking! I do realise the irony in chucking food away when I may most need it but it’ll be worth it. And I hate olives anyway.

StroppyWoman · 22/02/2019 10:59

I have actually planned my veg garden this year around avoiding some shortages. It's yet another stupidity that it arrives during the hunger gap when we are so dependent on imports for fresh food.

Clavinova · 22/02/2019 11:02

Leaving with 'no deal' is not an end to the mess.

We cannot just stop trading with our nearest neighbours without serious harm/disruption - anyone who suggests we'd be OK has either not examined the facts or is insane.

Trade with the EU isn't going to stop. Why do you think they are making contingency plans for up to 10,000 lorries coming in and out of Dover every day? Trade will continue - but on different terms.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 22/02/2019 11:02

I am liking some of these ideas...apart from the poster in page 1 who trotted out the Millenium bug with no idea how much work went on YEARS in advance. Pats that poster on the head and says “run along and play nicely dear”.

I hope Gormless lives near me.

ghostyslovesheets · 22/02/2019 11:04

we'll have blue passports - and fuck all else!

idoliketobebesidethesea · 22/02/2019 11:07

Does anyone else feel so apologetic to the members of the EU? I feel compelled to keep telling people in Spain how I voted! I feel like we should do something that symbolises a mass apology...I dunno like light a candle, or lights out. Or a series of planes that fly over saying sorry on a big banner....

FermatsTheorem · 22/02/2019 11:12

Re. people in Spain, recent political developments there suggest they're not immune to the modern tendency for taking a precise aim at one's own foot and pulling the trigger!

There was a proposal within the EU to have visa free travel or at least a visa waiver scheme which would give 3 years travel for a fairly nominal fee. But the Spanish are blocking it over Gibraltar, and the group within Spain pushing this hardest are Vox, the group who've just been voted into power in Andalusia. So - £200 in visas for a family of 4 to go on a package holiday to Spain for a week or two. Guess which province holds most of the package holiday destinations? Andalusia. But presumably "Take back Gibraltar (and don't mention the North African Enclaves)" plays well with Vox voters.

idoliketobebesidethesea

Yes I do. I went to Ireland last year and went round apologising to people for the mess we had created for them. I also wanted people to know I didn't vote for this, I felt ashamed of my country.

VanillaSugarr · 22/02/2019 11:16

Blue passports that are made in France because the U.K. company was “too expensive” Hmm

Clavinova · 22/02/2019 11:16

Quietrebel
Yep, £80billion already squandered. Almost a decade of EU membership fees gone up the spout for this pointless crap.

I've just googled £80 billion and came up with this;

A WTO-based Brexit could yield the UK £80 billion per year

briefingsforbrexit.com/a-wto-based-brexit-could-yield-the-uk-80-billion-per-year/

It seems both camps can attach any figure they like to their side of the argument - the real answer is that nobody knows what the situation will be in 1, 5 or 10 years time.

KennDodd · 22/02/2019 11:17

Here you go, you can march to protest. I'm going because I want the world to see that our young people overwhelmingly don't want Brexit.

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 11:19

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Speculation. Pointless.

MaMaMaMySharona · 22/02/2019 11:24

@SilverySurfer quite apt that you're using French booze to celebrate Hmm

Best get your stocks in now before prices go up, eh?

Clavinova · 22/02/2019 11:28

I feel compelled to keep telling people in Spain how I voted!

Spain should be used to it - The Catalan Independence Movement has been going for nearly 100 years - up to 500,000 people rallied in Barcelona only last weekend;

The sun may or may not rise the next morning. If it does, people will go out onto the streets to seek out fellow survivors. The dead will need to be buried and a reliable source of food and water located. Buildings will stand in ruins and livestock will run amok.

The government will send troops out onto the streets to kill us so we must be ready and willing to defend ourselves. Amidst the smoking ruins of our broken society, people will stand wailing and gnashing their teeth and lamenting.

Those who have stocked up on food, weapons and have secured their homes, will be able to eat pizza and watch reality tv which will consist of celebrities chasing leave voters in order to bore them to death with never ending photos of their Instagram pictures and meaningless tweets.
