Genuine question. How do you think the media will cover it?
Will it be a countdown and then lights out?
Will it be programming as normal?
Will radio be playing poignant tunes?
I'm personally hoping the likes of the Mash Report and Last Leg will be on air to see me through

I’m taking to my bed with a bottle of gin until the whole wretched mess is over. What a waste of fucking time, energy, brain space, and money it has been. I still can’t believe we’ve managed to get ourselves into this state. What a fucking farce.

LellyMcKelly · 22/02/2019 00:07

Jesus, can’t believe people are still using the millennium bug analogy. Fucksake. Someone who doesn’t understand the millenium bug or Brexit.

flirtygirl · 22/02/2019 01:29

When someone uses the millennium bug example, it shows how thick a major part of the population are.

It's exactly why we have this Brexit mess right now.

Ignorant, ill informed people who should remember that the referendum was advisory. And a stupid government who triggered article 50 after an advisory referendum.

I genuinely believe that a huge part of the population are too ignorant of the wider picture and therefore should not have had a say, in such a monumental decision.

MrPan · 22/02/2019 01:45

Agree flirty. It's a complex issue and not suitable for a yes no from an ill-informed crowd.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 22/02/2019 01:48

I'm starting to wonder if the Y2K bug people are actually bots, it would make sense, they never reply or make follow on statements normally just Y2K shit and leave

WeirdAndPissedOff · 22/02/2019 01:53

I've been thinking about this - I reckon we ought to arrange a meet up of musicians in London on 29th March to play "Nearer my god to thee" (the song played while The Titanic was sinking), in a similar vein to crowds singing Auld Lang Syne on NYE.
Maybe a firework display at the same time to celebrate Britain becoming "great again".
Anyone up for it?

Snoozysnoozy · 22/02/2019 04:12

Good job there are people like you around then. Did it take long to read every singe EU article and then seek evidence to see what was true and what was false?

Do you understand exactly where all our money comes from and goes to?

I'm all for remaining because I think we should all be working together for a common good, but I don't know everything about the EU and I don't believe the line that all leavers are think, ignorant racists. But do I believe that all remainers are some how enlightened.

People voted on a principle mostly.

user1471426142 · 22/02/2019 04:24

I am so angry by this absolute fuck up of governance. As a orevious poster said the millennium bug was avoid because of planning, hard work and robust plans. We are in this mess because of an ill-advised referendum that put party politics before the interests of the country, a ban on planning for a leave result, a stupid decision to trigger article 50 ASAP and start the clock running and ineptitude and ideological game playing by our elected leaders. In short, Brexit is nothing like Y2K and I hope to god we avoid a no deal on 29 March but we are uncomfortably close to it.

BeautyFromTheBlock · 22/02/2019 04:58

My parents voted for Brexit, I've just asked whether they still thought it was a good idea, turns out they're really quite racist and now feel it's ok to say it a bit louder. Apparently a lifetime working in a car factory and local council admin along with reading the Daily Mail make them EEC experts.

I'm no longer interested in making any effort for their grand children to see them. I think history will judge them very harshly.

Mistigri · 22/02/2019 05:48

Nothing will happen on 29th March because there will be an extension.

Big question now is whether you go over the cliff on July 1st or whether the UK holds European elections in May thereby allowing for a longer extension.

toomuchtooold · 22/02/2019 05:52

I'm going to be watching it here from my home in Germany (I'm Scottish). I'm grateful that you'll be going at midnight our time, I suppose that'll be the last time Britain bends the knee to Europe till the IMF bailout

I'm going to be swinging between hoping the crash and burn is swift (so that whatever government crawls out of the ashes is voted in on a platform of rejoining) and hoping it's not too bad because I don't want youse all to be suffering. I won't lie though, if the news in the following days is dominated by vox pops of ex Brexiteers complaining about fresh fruit shortages and stuff, the schadenfreude will be strong.

twofingerstoEverything · 22/02/2019 06:56

Any shortages will be explained away as the EU punishing plucky little Britain...

Helmetbymidnight · 22/02/2019 07:13

its astonishing that brexiteers who used to be talking about how brilliant it will be- and our 'wonderful new trade deals' are now saying 'we'll get by' 'we'llmanage'
such a hilarious lowering of expectations. they really should listen to themselves!

my leaver family/friends genuinely seem oblivious - even with no deal mostseem to think nothing will change - many mistakenly think everything will be exactly as it was before we joined the eu - others mistakenly think only our trade directly with the eu is affected. its a shame theyre still so ill informed two and a half years down the linebut hey.

CaptainBrickbeard · 22/02/2019 07:15

Y2K posters are definitely bots. We should have a standard response to them that goes on every thread they are programmed to plop their nugget of nonsense on.

If we extend to July, that’s peak holiday season so the worst time to have disruption to travel, massive queues on M20 etc. What a nightmare.

Helmetbymidnight · 22/02/2019 07:18

theyre not bots, really, theyre my friends o fb too.

Theyre ordinary people (brexiteers) with very little understanding of whats going on whose fallen on - what they think - is an explanation that makes them look cool- headed and wise.

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 07:20

Gormless, I like your style. I shall do the same with camembert. If I buy it now it will be properly ripe by B night.

ZenNudist · 22/02/2019 07:25

@toomuchtooold I suppose that'll be the last time Britain bends the knee to Europetill the IMF bailout 😂

ZenNudist · 22/02/2019 07:27

I I'm optimistic that there will be a delay but I think we'll have to offer the European something in order to delay so I think they will either be a people's vote or a general election I do not want a general election. I definitely wouldn't be voting for my usual labour candidate even though she's very likely to get in if their Woodfield a pro-eu candidate in my area for example for the Independent group I would hope for that even if it's effectively wasting my vote.

I personally will not vote Tory ever in my life and I don't trust the Labour Party not to deliver brexit basically.

Triglesoffy · 22/02/2019 07:27

We need a panel TV countdown programme consisting of Jon Snow, Dan Snow, Jon Snow and Frosty the Snow (man) and then when the argument gets tough, we shout at the TV “You know nothing, Jon Snow”.

I like the olives, chorizo and Camembert idea. I’m going to smear pesto over the windscreens of all known Leavers.

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 07:29

Extend to July. Euro elections? Can someone tell me what our illustrious independent plucky little island will be doing about that if there's an extension?

Fiveredbricks · 22/02/2019 07:39

@snoozysnoozy "But do I believe that all remainers are some how enlightened." Hmm

longwayoff · 22/02/2019 07:44

We've all got an MEP (Member of European Parliament). Has anyone heard their MEP comment on Brexit? discounting Farage and friends obviously. Haven't heard a peep out of mine.

MrPan · 22/02/2019 07:45

Can we bear in mind we have to ask 27 other countries for a delay. We said we were leaving at a set time so have to ask to change that.
It isn't a usual UK automatic entitlement.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 22/02/2019 07:47

The last leg series finale is on the 29th.

JenniferJareau · 22/02/2019 07:49

It'll be like the millennium bug. People expecting fire and brimstone but eff all actually happens.
