Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party, but you also need to think what direction the bathroom faces when considering paint colours, to make sure you dont end up making it even colder - ie dont paint it white or blue and if you go for grey make sure it has a warm undertone.

Overall it's a lovely modern bathroom with clean lines and you will love using it when its finished.

Fififiasco · 22/02/2019 10:28

It's beautiful but too bland and bare. O think also walls are wrong colour. A bit of art. Some coloured accessories a wee bit of glitter etc and is there

ScienceIsTruth · 22/02/2019 10:32

It's very clinical looking and bland atm, but I'm sure once you personalise it, it will look fine.

ScienceIsTruth · 22/02/2019 10:36

Oops, posted too soon!! I think the paint is the main issue, a nice grey or something would work well, but it needs some colour. Then a few personalise touches. Maybe a nice print or something? It's a lovely size though

ralfeesmum · 22/02/2019 10:44

Maybe it's all that white? It does seem to merge everything together a bit. But quite liking the sink - an attractive shape.

Cream walls and grey tiles? Match the paint to the tiles and it will look loads better.
Some nice bright accessories will look good with grey too.

TatianaLarina · 22/02/2019 10:56

Dark paint is a terrible idea. It will draw attention the edges of the tiling and to the slightly random siting of the suite.

A pale colour more in keeping with the colour of the tiles and suite will work best.

Smotheroffive · 22/02/2019 11:12

Did someone put the words warm and grey together! Just no. In no way is cold grey, warm. It's also drear.

AnotherEmma · 22/02/2019 11:33

There are different shades of grey (ha) and there can be warm or cool tones

PCohle · 22/02/2019 11:35

OP could I be really cheeky and ask you how much it cost? (you can PM me if you'd be more comfortable?). I'm looking to have my bathroom done up and I have no idea what sort of ballpark price is reasonable.

I think your bathroom is lovely - just a bit bare at this stage. With some towels, blinds and a couple of decorative bits I think it will look grand.

Wedgiecar58 · 22/02/2019 12:15

It's not terrible, it's just a bit stark looking. Once you get a blind up and some soft furnishings, it will look nicer.

Shelf with rolled up towels (I'd go grey to match tiles), maybe a couple of baskets for things like loo roll etc, will be a nice addition and add some more texture.

I think the paint colour is too warm toned for the tiles, I would go for a pebble grey colour.

BeatriceBee · 22/02/2019 12:41

You've got all the basics and they look good, you just need to add some colour with a blind, towels, something on the wall maybe, a couple of colourful nick-nacks, should look lovely then.

Kettleon80 · 22/02/2019 12:42

PCcohle - the OP said somewhere outbreaks that it cost circa £5000

Outbreaks? Upthread

Anyonebut · 22/02/2019 12:46

I like it, but the one thing that really jumped up at me is the window frame, with the frame on the opening side being a completely different width than the rest, it is "annoying" in its asymmetry.

ScienceIsTruth · 22/02/2019 12:52

I like the wooden floor. The window needs covering as it looks really naked, maybe a wooden blind that matches the floor.

PCohle · 22/02/2019 12:59

Thanks Kettle! Mildly mortified that I was cheeky enough to ask AND it turns out I haven't even RTFT. Blush

I think OP's looks lovely and it cost way less that I have been quoted for a quick "tart it up before we sell" bathroom update, keeping the same sanitary wear.

I'm not keen on the shower cubicle, it's personal choice but I don't like the half side, I always find that no matter how carefully I aim the shower I always end up with a puddle outside of the shower. Also I think the thin white tray looks a tadge out of place.

It would probably look better with a nice soft bath mat next to it.

Disclaimer - I'm crap at aesthetics so feel free to ignore me.

Rich1990 · 22/02/2019 13:12

Can somone delete my post am new i was trying post new post no idea how ended up here thank u in advance ...ps i like your bathroom Star

jillybeanclevertips · 22/02/2019 14:00

You can see the newness of it, and its obviously been planned well. however, its a bit cold and impersonal. It could do with warming up, and having a bit of colour introduced. Its not so bad that you can't fix it, and then enjoy it. When its not so clinical.

MamaRaisingBoys · 22/02/2019 16:03

Looking forward to seeing the end result now op!

crosstalk · 22/02/2019 17:10

Hi OP have you got storage space for towels?

I agree with painting the walls to a more interesting colour and getting wooden shutters or blinds. My concern would be the click flooring - the only wooden flooring that survives water is old boards/wooden boards. Be prepared to replace with vinyl some of which is now gorgeous.

As for coloured towels - white for you and DH but like the PP's idea of different colours for your DC. Makes it so much easier as they said for them to identify .. and you and your DH to sort out if they get eg pink eye or whatever.

Italiangreyhound · 22/02/2019 17:36

It looks amazing.
