Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

I agree that the cream/white combination is a bit of a clash, but you won't notice it once you have introduced nicely coloured luxury towels, floor mat, perhaps a timber venetian blind at the window or a material roman blind if its well ventilated.

Fishwifecalling · 22/02/2019 00:09

Whatever blind you choose, be it roller or Roman, make sure it is outside of the window rather than insert in it. It needs to be a statement.
I love the dark floor.

You can have real fun with this. Think different textures as well as colours and really large artwork. Whatever colour walls you go with will be lovely. The cream tones are the only thing that wouldn't work which is why you hate it now.

It's a lovely bathroom. Good luck.

Fishwifecalling · 22/02/2019 00:09

Oh and statement lighting.

Kate0902900908 · 22/02/2019 00:17

The walls are magnolia floor is brown tiles are grey and the suite is white. The bathroom itself is absolutely beautiful but it needs some unity I would paint the walls while and grey the floor some hinchhome accessories grey and white and it will be fabulous

Kkmuppet · 22/02/2019 00:46

I agree with the 'wrong colour paint' comments. The shower photo really highlights it for me that the wall colour just looks wrong as it has too much yellow in it. Change the walls to white or something that goes better with grey tiles, brownish (?) floor and white fittings - maybe like a duck egg blue would look good. Also a big plant in the corner by the bath, a good window covering and something arty on the wall behind the toilet. It's a great size though and will be lovely!

Smotheroffive · 22/02/2019 00:52

I have only looked at your pics and OP so as not to be swayed by anything anyone else has written.

The only thing I would do,as I think it looks lovely,is to continue the tiling round to, and behind the loo, up to the shower.

That is literally the only thing that looks odd to me is having that small bit of tiling behind the bath.

I can see you've already had loads of advice anyway, so mine may well be irrelevant and unhelpful now.
Hope you're happier with it now Smile

Canuckduck · 22/02/2019 02:40

Some blinds, different paint and plants. I think I would’ve tiled all the way around the bathroom to that level.

0rangeB0ttle · 22/02/2019 02:41

Wanna swap ? Mine has original 50s or 70s pink tiles, brown bath & basin. So yours looks new and luxurious in comparison ! Perhaps add some softness with green plants, some art, coloured towels, lush bath bombs

hickerydickerydockmouse · 22/02/2019 03:03

Probably because it looks like a hospital bathroom. Too precise and too white. Ours is like that too. I have seen beige bathrooms and that look warm and nice.

May be put some colourful bathmats and towels. One or two decoration items. I would also recommend putting full tiles on the wall next to the bath tub. The splashes from water damage the paint and it's easier to clean the tiles.

And can I ask why you chose this layout? I would have had the shower closer to the bathtub and the toilet near the sink. Wouldn't the person coming out of the bath drip all over the floor when they come out to get into the shower?

itstrue · 22/02/2019 03:06

I think it's the cream paint.

Here is our all white bathroom.

Smotheroffive · 22/02/2019 03:25

Oo bit of a boast there my bathrooms better than yours I have to say, I prefer OPs as despite yours being all white its all different colour whites and looks like it needs them breaking up a bit.

StarlightLady · 22/02/2019 06:59

It looks clean, snart and hygienic.

Do you have the budget to introduce more coloured tiles.

perdigal · 22/02/2019 07:05

Personally I would not have the paint so cream and then put white shutters in not a blind as the PVC windows are not that attractive. I know people are saying about artwork - but I'd be careful
With artwork choice as so many are so naff .
It will be lovely I'm sure.

RhiWrites · 22/02/2019 07:11

Several people have suggested wallpaper.

YOU CAN’T WALLPAPER A BATHROOM!

It will peel off with the condensation. This is what I discovered when I moved into a house where the previous owner had done just this to make it look nice for sale.

Don’t use wallpaper.

Notwiththeseknees · 22/02/2019 07:39

PP - You can wallpaper - I papered my shower room a few years ago with old sailing charts - looks fab and they are still there!

I love the layout & fittings, floor looks nice and adds warmth. I'm a big lover of warm greys and atmospheric earthy colours - look at Fired Earth for inspiration. I think a lovely shutter at your window, repaint the walls - they absolutely are magnolia - and look for a modern sconce for the wall for candle lit bath time. And you were correct not to tile the bath wall to the ceiling. Over tiling is clinical and dated.....

Guineapiglet345 · 22/02/2019 07:47

Wouldn't the person coming out of the bath drip all over the floor when they come out to get into the shower?

What? Why would you get out of the bath and go in the shower? Weird.

malificent7 · 22/02/2019 07:47

No wallpaper! It won't go....some cool tiles woukd be better ir tasteful art.

scubadive · 22/02/2019 08:23

I like the cream paint with the brown floor. A plain bright blind, bath mat and towels is all that is needed. Enjoy!

SoYouBetterRun · 22/02/2019 08:28

F&B brassica or similar (dulux woodland solace) has grey/black undertones and would look fab on the walls. And wooden (walnut) shutters and accessories. Rest is fab!

SatsumaFan · 22/02/2019 08:40

@AdaHopper your bathroom is gorgeous! I had mine done nearly a year ago and still haven't got round to sorting a blind. Yours looks perfect. Can you please link or tell me which IKEA one it is, if you can remember?

Sorry to hijack OP!

kazlau · 22/02/2019 09:29

I think it’s the magnolia walls that make you not like it. It’s a stunning bathroom. I’d have fully tiled the walls.

Janelli · 22/02/2019 09:33

Agree with everyone that its a lovely bathroom. One to be proud of ! sounds like your a bit frightened of introducing colour at the mo. Best way to chose the right colour scheme is think of your favourite colour and being your fav colour your bound to have an article of clothing or such, even a towel you bought already co's you liked the colour and hang it in the bathroom , and only that for a week. Keep looking and changing it to some other colour until your happy you like. Most cost effective way of choosing any colour scheme. Hope this helps ? Happy relaxing bathing x

Bignosenobum · 22/02/2019 09:39

What was your dream? Do you have Pic in mind ?

Emmanal · 22/02/2019 09:39

It's lovely.

I would add some fabric or other soft touches. Evrything in there is hard and cold. Blinds, curtain, mats, towels. More flowers and plants but bigger so that they are more visible. Maybe baskets with pretty stuff in them to break up all the white and harsh elements.
No need to make big changes

PlanetJam · 22/02/2019 09:39

OP the floor is lovely and so are the tiles. Totally agree with the dark wall paint idea and also the house plant. Can’t wait to see the end pictures. You WILL love it!
