Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

just colour. do have any theme you like? maybe hint of orange in the towels or a vase or something. Make it a bit more spa like. something fresh but relaxing, I have a sudden thing for gold and orange at the moment. no idea why though.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/02/2019 00:21

The tiles behind the bath look as though they haven't been finished, I would carry them up higher. I have floor to ceiling white tiles, with flooring similar to yours.

I have coloured towels, bathmat and shower gel etc in coloured bottles which jazzes it up. I colour co-ordinate depending on which towels are in use -because I have OCD-

PlinkPlink · 21/02/2019 00:45

I agree with tiling all the way up to the ceiling.

For the whole bathroom if you could/if it wasn't too expensive.

Hmm Hmm

That’s not OCD you ignorant person.

PinkPanther38 · 21/02/2019 00:56

OK I haven't RTFT but honestly OP, you're 'too embarrassed to show anyone in real life'??

Get a grip.

Jaynesworld · 21/02/2019 06:24

Please, please resist the urge to add a pop of colour. It would make your very expensive bathroom look cheap.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 21/02/2019 06:31

I think it's the 3 separate bits of tiling that looks wrong (apart from the cream walls)
You seem to have a single row of border tiles above the sink and nowhere else. Remove those and have at least one row of bath tiles, plus the border above. Then have row of border tiles above bath tiles. Ideally have both borders at same height.
Ideally have tiles between Bath, loo and shower. The loo looks a bit disconnected

Jaynesworld · 21/02/2019 07:27

In the second picture. Get rid of the border tile and put a row of bath tiles behind or leave it bare.
Have the soap and hand moisturiser together.
Get rid of the plants but keep the candle.
Is this the main bathroom as I would have some cotton buds etc in glass containers on there (bur nicer than the 3rd pic)

Sorry that was mean. I just think it's a racket. Time is so precious and these things take so long to work for.

barefaced · 21/02/2019 07:58

I'd paint it a cool dusty pink and add plants at different heights (floor, window, high shelf) in different patterned or wicker patterned pots, luxury candles, a print for the wall. Keep it off centre, not matchy matchy and don't line everything up symmetrically - keep a cool relaxed vibe. Look at Instagram for inspiration

Jamiefraserskilt · 21/02/2019 08:09

Bright accessories for mats, towels etc. Bring the colour out in a blind, the odd picture etc. Will look gorgeous.

TatianaLarina · 21/02/2019 08:19

Altho I don’t personally like half-tiled walls, tilijg up to the ceiling would be expensive and there’s no real need. If OP changes the wall colour, that will be sufficient.

Hoppahouse · 21/02/2019 08:20

Your bathroom is lovely!

The colour of the walls are the only thing you need to change and I think you'll love it then!

The white or teal wall ideas are both great. Get some tester pots and see how you go.

Don't forget to report back!

Absolutely. There’s nothing more unsophisticated than accent colours. Or plants.

Canyoutellwhoiamyet · 21/02/2019 08:25

Thanks so much everyone.

I've woken up thinking dark faux wooden blind to match the floor, white walls, dusky pink and grey towels and accessories, a shelf, wall art, green tones thrown in somewhere.

There have been so many good suggestions on here I'm so grateful to everyone who has taken time to help.

I'll definately report back :)

@LuckyMarmiteLover where are those tiles from!!

Op please post an update and I agree blind, your own stuff, tiles to the ceiling or colour on the wallls

MRex · 21/02/2019 08:32

I agree with repainting the walls; white because that doesn't clash with anything. Blinds would be good too. A few plants and pictures.

mydogisthebest · 21/02/2019 08:36

I think it's lovely but a bit bland. It definitely needs a blind, preferably one with some colour in.

I also would put some plants in there. I don't like rooms without plants. I think they add a lot to any room.

My bathroom is nowhere near that nice (we hope to completely change it this year) but I have plants all along the windowsill, on a high shelf, on the floor and some hanging ones. Only a small bathroom but I have 15 plants in there! A couple are orchids so they look lovely with the flowers

wafflyversatile · 21/02/2019 08:36

I agree the wall colour is wrong. White looks much better. I think the flower on the sink increases the clinical impersonal look!

Bring some colour and pattern in with towels and blind. The floor is perfectly fine.

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/02/2019 08:36

I can't wait to see the after photos.

Tinkobell · 21/02/2019 08:40

Well I think something big on the wall would be great. The bathroom fundamentally lacks interest OP. What you've got right now is just a bit meh and unmemorable. If you're going to stick a dark wooden blind in with wide tapes (nice) why not progress that idea with a warm Lombok teak accents look....so your wall art could be a warm wooden statement piece, all your bits and bobs, holders, baskets etc could be a warm wood. I love that Bali colonial look it's really nice and cosy. Good luck!

longwayoff · 21/02/2019 08:44

Paint the walls midnight blue or racing green.

Wakk · 21/02/2019 08:47

It'll look lovely once you've tweaked it and added OP.

It's the wall colour.
