Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

I would paint it a sage green as the cream doesn’t contrast enough with the white suite, it clashes badly. (Sorry)
I would also put up some shutters, it’s too modern for voile or nets.
A few large colourful pics lots of accessories and a rug, bath mat the same colour as the walls, sage green would go with the wooden floors.
And then accessories with a third colour, poss a darker grey and green.
It’s just clinical atm as it’s a bare shell. X

I have a similar bathroom with a light gray wall and teal (Ikea) towels and mats and it's GORGEOUS. It's just the magnolia paint that's wrong.

I've got wooden blinds to math the flooring. It's dead cosy.

If you've got ceiling spotlights you might be able to swap for those colour change hue ones which are fun!

It'll be fab with different paint. Honest.

Where do you put your book. How can you read in the bath when there's nowhere safe to keep your book water-free while you're washing?

I hate bathrooms with no bookshelves.

popcornpaws · 20/02/2019 23:15

I’m sorry but i dont think it “flows” well, for a small room it seems like everything has been plonked in, the bath and sink are lovely and curvy yet the shower is very boxy.

everloving · 20/02/2019 23:16

The fixtures are lovely OP. I think white shutters for the window would look lovely. You can get bathroom ones which are vinyl so withstand moisture. As the room is so big, I'd go for a dark colour (Hague Blue is my fav and would look lovely). I played around with the Dulux app too (not very well mind you) but something dark navy-teal would look great.

It's too cream I think. White would go much better with the tiles.

WeAllKnowDave · 20/02/2019 23:29

Definitely need to tile the whole of the window wall!

NigellaAwesome · 20/02/2019 23:32

It needs a roman blind on the window, or wooden slatted blinds. A nice large picture on the wall beside the toilet would complete it.

feliciabirthgiver · 20/02/2019 23:36

It is nice (honestly we are not all lying to you). But yes I would have absolutely tiled the whole wall to get real lux feel, anyway you can get them back to do that or save up for it?

Canyoutellwhoiamyet · 20/02/2019 23:37

Am I along the right lines Grin

@felicia yes I do think we should have tiled all of that wall, I wish I had chosen a more white tile too.
Could get them back to add to it, but as I'm not keen on the tiles I don't know if it'll make me hate it more IYSWIM

Crack on with the other stuff you can easily do - your drawing is perfect and then see how you feel.

The tiles can be changed so you are not stuck with them forever, just live with them for a bit.

BenjiB · 20/02/2019 23:45

It’s beautiful. If it were me I’d leave it exactly as it is. I don’t like colour !

ionlylovemybedandmymama · 20/02/2019 23:46

I think if the window had been a lot larger it would look very different. It's the sizing of the bath against the window that disrupts the flow.

littlebillie · 20/02/2019 23:47

Change the wall colour add some features like this and a wooden blind

Mine is similar to this. The window is the eye catcher. Your window look likes an after thought. The rest of the bathroom is lovely, I don't like clutter or colour.

ionlylovemybedandmymama · 20/02/2019 23:51

If the window couldn't be changed then I'd go for something like this with the lighting, to balance out the sizing of bath to window.

Hague blue from Farrow & Ball would look good if you keep the dark floor. If you are going to go dark, embrace it fully. Dark green foliage, woooden tray across the bath, candles and a chintz theme blind would give it character....

ionlylovemybedandmymama · 20/02/2019 23:52

Although your window is a bit shorter.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 20/02/2019 23:54

It's the absolute polar opposite of my taste but trying to be objective, first impression is it looks very clinical and souless. Like a hotel bathroom. I think if you add in some bigger personal touches you will find you warm to it a bit more.

ScarletBitch · 20/02/2019 23:56

It's lovely, add some dabs of colour and some scented candles and it will be gorgeous!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 20/02/2019 23:56

Paint it a dark colour. Dark blue or something
That wall paint you have looks like magnolia. So old fashioned

StoppinBy · 21/02/2019 00:01

We have a similar bathroom that we just did up except that I made a beautiful wooden bench top and we used a light grey/almost white on the walls and matt black finishes like handles and towel hangers/tap ware etc. When you break up the white it looks so much nicer, too much white makes everything very clinical.

newlyfrugal · 21/02/2019 00:04

The magnolia paint doesn't go. You need a navy blue or an olive green maybe?

daffodilbrain · 21/02/2019 00:16

It's absolutely fine. Your walls look magnolia??? Regardless I'd change the colour - pale grey maybe? And a blind of course. Not too much tat though as bathrooms gather enough
