Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

It looks so fresh but I think it's just that the wall colour is wrong. It's too cream and would look better being white, light grey or a colour. I think that would make a huge difference!

LizzieMacQueen · 20/02/2019 22:22

Indoor orange plant. And a blind.

The light around the mirror is too bright. Get warm bulbs instead.

Thishatisnotmine · 20/02/2019 22:24

I would put loads of plants in. Hanging ones. A smart blind. I do agree though that those tiles need to go up to the ceiling.

Horsemad · 20/02/2019 22:25

Back again. 🙂

I think the wall colour doesn't really go but at least that's really easy to do something about! I'd probably tile the whole wall behind the bath if you can afford to do it.

Apart from that, it's lovely. Once you have your stuff in, it will feel like yours and less like a show bathroom.

I'm just off to Google window shutters now 😀

Canyoutell - what do you love about your friend's?

I think the fittings and layout are great but I would add stunning glass/metal accent tiles to give more luxury/personality

Towels will make a big difference too and lovely to be able to change the look with 2-3 sets in different shades

LellyMcKelly · 20/02/2019 22:26

The tiles and the magnolia don’t go well together. The suite is lovely. Imagine it with tiles like this all over, dark wood accessories and a fern or two.

canyou you could wallpaper or if you want to just do a bit, what about the plastic panels you can get for the bit behind the bath? Add a bit of colour that way?

I’m watching this thread as the bathroom is the next in my list when I win the lottery

Where did you get the fittings from?

Thishatisnotmine · 20/02/2019 22:28

What ceiling light do you have? I think in such a large space, I'd go all out on a big, fancy light. The kind you couldnt get away with in another room.

I generally prefer a roman or Venetian blind but this one with the little sausage dogs would fit your preferred colour scheme and be nice for the DC without being childish.

Everything was from soak.com apart from the bath which was from drench.com

We have spotlights in the ceiling so no chance a fancy light fitting there. Really wishing I hadn't got it tiled with those tiles now :-(

The fittings are lovely but I agree with pps (not rtft) that some colour will make a massive difference. It's a decent sized room so can definitely take a statement colour on at least one wall (make sure it's the special kitchen and bathroom paint). I'd prob go roller blind (with the proper laminated or oil cloth type fabric) for window but I don't personally like voile in bathroom (I know some people do). Then with towels and other bits in coordinating colours it will be lovely! Smile

justaweeone · 20/02/2019 22:31

It's lovely it's just the wall colour that to be darker or whiter

HeronLanyon · 20/02/2019 22:35

Something like this was what I was thinking. Have very similar colour in mine and all colours of products look great. White towels. Colourful rug.

BettysMom · 20/02/2019 22:36

I'm not sure whether the sink looks out of proportion with the rest of the room - it sticks out so much and looks really big?

Gulsink · 20/02/2019 22:42

A pedestal mat around the toilet and a crocheted doll spare toilet roll cover? Grin

Get rid of the magnolia paint and once there are some towels and a blind in there it'll look better.

Stickmanslittleleaf · 20/02/2019 22:49

I like it but I see what you're thinking and although I'm having trouble articulating it I'll try Grin. I think it's a 'hotel' bathroom suite and set up which can look fabulous in homes, very luxurious etc but the room isn't 'hotel', it has the window and the layout is not right for that look (although lovely). So you had in your head a luxury hotel look which needs nothing doing to it, no mats or colour or anything and once it's in it doesn't have that feel, am I right?
If so- and please forgive me if I'm wrong! All it needs is a homely touch, so thick bathmats, fluffy towels on display, a bit of colour, a blind matching that theme, the shelf with ornaments etc which make the feel luxury home bathroom rather than walking into a luxury hotel bathroom. I'm butchering this idea but I hope you know what I mean!

JustOneShadeOfGrey · 20/02/2019 22:50

Add a black and/or grey paint effect on the walls or a warm teal. Maybe using a fashionable quartrefoil stencil. The area you can paint is a good idea - you can update your look as often as you like. Co-ordinate this with your towels and blind and add a floor mat and the look will be softer.

Cherrypickerpopoff · 20/02/2019 22:52

You need a stronger paint colour, I think.

hastingsmua1 · 20/02/2019 22:53

It would look better with white or light grey paint and the tiles taken further up the wall. You could then add some fab decor, plants, mats etc and it would look quite nice.

Unfortunately I also don’t like the flooring, I think an cool/grey/ash toned wood grain would have looked lovely and modern.

Right now you have a mismatch of modern fixtures but outdated tones of the walls/floor which is why it looks off.

JustOneShadeOfGrey · 20/02/2019 22:54

@stickmanslittleleaf is right - it's not a hotel, it needs to be personalised. Dunelm does lovely bathroom accessories and once you add your shampoo bottles, fancy hand wash, a fluffy mat and a bowl of bath bombs, it will look fab. Plus the added colour I've posted about above!

babydreamer1 · 20/02/2019 22:56

Paint the walls grey (lighter or darker than the tiles) and then have ochre accessories, mats, towels ect to really brighten it up. I love @WaxOnFeckOff blind choice.
Once the horrid magnolia has gone it will be lovely.

Cherrypickerpopoff · 20/02/2019 22:59

The colour is definitely not right. It's bland and wishy-washy. The suite and tiles are fine, the flooring warm. You don't need the entire bath wall tiled at all. The less tiles the better-they're the expensive bit to change. My advice is neutral tiles and then you can change the colour whenever you fancy.

LikeDolphinsCanSwim · 20/02/2019 22:59

It’s mainly the wall colour that’s all wrong. If you fix that it will look much better.

tenredthings · 20/02/2019 23:03

I think the tiling behind the bath should continue on the wall behind the loo to the shower. It would tie it all together better.
