Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

Lovely new bathroom!

I agree on the white walls. I’m not an artist so can’t explain it scientifically. But for me the grey you have for tiles is quite a cold grey. The cream is warmer. (You can get warm greys too where there is a bit of brown in it but this one is a stark grey - and I think it is fab, I have similar tiles.) Personally, I’d go for a brilliant white paint to offset the grey. I can’t quite picture dark coloured paint as some are suggesting but maybe a dark grey would work.

My bathroom is white paint, similar wall tiles to you and grey patterned tiles. I add some interest with bright coloured towels and bath mats. I get bored easily so I have orange, turquoise, bright pink or yellow depending what mood I’m in.

AnotherEmma · 20/02/2019 20:12

Not terracotta towels! Grin
Other plans sound good Smile

Wellit · 20/02/2019 20:14

It looks like my old house, we had a set up like this, I love it actually. Sorry, very nice to have such a large bathroom!

NCjustforthisthread · 20/02/2019 20:14

It’s just too bare. Too beige. Very boring. Sad sorry op. That just my own opinion.

burritofan · 20/02/2019 20:16

I like your floor, OP. Depending on where you land on the Instagram-to-hygiene spectrum, it would look amazing with a vintage Persian rug on top. Which would also go with a little wooden unit as a pp suggested to warm it up. White walls, bottle glass of red as you take your first fancy bath in there, it'll all be fine.

EdWinchester · 20/02/2019 20:16

Terracotta towels?!

No.

Resist the urge to have a 'pop' of colour. Unless you want it to look like the Argos catalogue.

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 20/02/2019 20:17

Needs painted a warm bright colour, matching accessories and a blind at the window.
I am jealous would love a new bathroom.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/02/2019 20:18

I like the floor. Not terracotta towels, something warm though. Aubergine or Teal blue maybe?

TheNavigator · 20/02/2019 20:18

I think it is a lovely bathroom and I like the floor. Just need to change the wall colour, add a blind and once your towels and stuff are in it will start to look fabulous.

Some posters on this thread have been bloody rude and I suspect there has been a jealous tinge to some of the comments.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 20/02/2019 20:19

I agree with others re the tiles and wall colour.

The thing that stands out to me is the towel rail. I don't get why the cap that is covering g gd hole where it goes into the floor is white? It makes it really stand out. The cap bit should be either silver to match the rail or dark to match the floor.
I also think it is quite small for a room that size and looks like it's been shoehorned in where it is, it would have been better placed elsewhere.

Canyoutellwhoiamyet · 20/02/2019 20:19

When I say terracotta I like this kind of colour scheme just not sure if I'm brave..!

"Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed."

In the very first post. On AIBU!

And people have been honest, some brutal but I wouldn't say rude.

Surely we don’t have 8 full pages of people making exactly the same suggestions. Can’t be bothered to read all the comments.

FWIW I would put in some shutter type blinds. Remove the big awful towel rail.

PrismGuile · 20/02/2019 20:23

It's certainly not an ugly bathroom though op. Don't be so down on it!

You could paint the walls terracotta or olive green.. have some sandy towels.

GreatWesternValkyrie · 20/02/2019 20:23

I think what I would change is to put more tiles in, when I see the bare minimum of tiles around a bath or sink, it feels unfinished to me - although I’d avoid tiling the entire room personally. A really beautiful bold wallpaper would look good but equally maintaining the white/dark wood theme would look lovely with the addition of some really lush dark green plants and wood/stone decorative pieces. If there’s the space, I’d put a cocktail style chair in there - but I’d put them in every room in my house so feel free to ignore that!

It’s a really nice bathroom, it’s just needs to have a distinct style 🙂

huggybear · 20/02/2019 20:23

Bless you, it's a really nice bathroom but I agree with other comments, change the wall colour and get some plants involved.

Canyoutellwhoiamyet · 20/02/2019 20:24

I can cope with the brutalness honestly, it's fine. I wanted it. Some people do have more tact than others though Grin

@mybootsaremuddy yes they used white caps there.. it's annoying and dh is going to put chrome ones on

The towel rail doesn't look out of place IRL

it's quite big and we didn't want it getting bashed by the door but I see How it looks on the pics

RollerJed · 20/02/2019 20:25

Well I like it OP!

Juicyfrooty · 20/02/2019 20:25

My bathroom tiles are a similar light grey colour and I went for a very light grey paint which looks fine, but I have a dark bluey grey vanity unit which looks lovely against the pale grey tiles and I think I'll paint the walls this kind of colour when they need redoing. You could even go for a darker colour on the window/bath wall and a lighter cool grey on the other walls if you didn't want too much of a dark colour.

We went for a white wooden effect Venetian blind.

GirlOnIt · 20/02/2019 20:25

I'd go mid grey walls and orange towels accessories etc.

Towels like these would add some pattern too. From matalan.

It’s okay. A bit boring to be honest

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/02/2019 20:28

Ah, I'd say that's more Orange or burnt orange OP and I quite like that :)

I also like these:

AnotherEmma · 20/02/2019 20:28

OK so in that photo you shared, the colour is not terracotta, it's orange (or "burnt orange" if you want to make it sound fancy Smile).
It works well with the white/grey/black colours. So you could make it work in your bathroom if you changed the floor to grey and painted the walls white or pale grey.

Ivegotthree · 20/02/2019 20:28

It's lovely. Just needs soft furnishings. A pretty blind with eg pink on it would work wonders
