Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

I hate bathrooms where the toilet faces the sink and bathroom mirror, i really don't like observing my own shitting face.

Kettleon80 · 20/02/2019 19:05

Why Calzone?

For critiquing a bathroom that the OP doesn't like?

MoreHairyThanScary · 20/02/2019 19:09

I think the tiles and the paint colour are 'off', tiles look grey and walls are cream maybe a grey/ white or a proper contrast would work better. ( and always get a tester😄)

CaseofEllen · 20/02/2019 19:11

A bright bath mat and matching towels, one or two real plants and a nice blind and it'll be lovely x

PigletJohn · 20/02/2019 19:11

matching bright blind, towels and mats will help

JuniperBeer · 20/02/2019 19:14

Get rid of the magnolia walls.
Get a nice shower mat/bath mat.

Mumsymumphy · 20/02/2019 19:14

I wouldn't paint the walls. Just add colour with accessories and a plastic plant. Nice patterned blind.

keepingbees · 20/02/2019 19:16

I think it's lovely, just very bare and un-lived in.
I think for me, the tile height is fine, but I would have carried them on round the room. I think it looks a bit abrupt stopping on there back wall by the bath.

northernsouljunket · 20/02/2019 19:18

That shower looks lovely and big.
All it needs is a bit of colourful accessories. And perhaps a nice print on the wall
It will look lovely then!

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 20/02/2019 19:18

All you need is some plants and stuff to fill it. Am shit at links but hopefully this will work...

Just saw you are after a gold ....try Farrow and Ball 'Cats Paw'. Lovely strong deep gold without being brassy

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 20/02/2019 19:21

I think (but it might be my phone) that the cream walls don't really go with grey tiles.

Maelstrop · 20/02/2019 19:21

You just need to accessorise. It’s a beautiful bathroom. Don’t get why you were told not to tile the floor. Teal towels, blind, couple of ornaments on two shelves above the loo. To avoid hitting head on shelves, do inbuilt like ours.

Does your shower not risk overflowing? Tray isn’t very deep.

If i saw that bathroom, I'd think you'd spent big on some superficial aspects of the bathroom, fancy mirror, heated towel rail, curvy sink, shower head etc. and cut corners with the essentials like proper tiling. As a result it looks half finished or like you've run out of cash. There doesn't seem to have been enough thought about how it would look when it was all put together especially when it comes to the colours, so it looks like a bit of a hotchpotch all round.

Maelstrop · 20/02/2019 19:22

Ooh, yeah, big fancy plant in a corner somewhere.

MyNewBearTotoro · 20/02/2019 19:23

I agree that it needs some colour. At the moment it looks a bit bland/ boring and like something out of a hotel rather than a home.

I would change the toilet seat to a nice wooden one rather than white plastic, wooden toilet seats always feel a lot homelier to me. and then you just need to add some colourful blinds, bathmat, towels and maybe a few ornaments.

In hindsight maybe coloured tiles instead of white would have brightened it up a bit, instead maybe it just needs a warmer colour on the walls than white.

I’m sure once you’ve got your stuff in it you will love it!

JassyRadlett · 20/02/2019 19:23

The paint is making the tiles look dirty. Everything else is lovely so it’s an easy fix (and if you can tile to the ceiling above the bath I’d be tempted).

I would go for brilliant white on the walls to give the tiles a chance to come out and then go bright with accessories and art.

Failing that, a really strong colour on the walls.

NewYear2018 · 20/02/2019 19:24

What about dark wallpaper like this. And some metallic bling.

(Light hearted) you’re crazy, it’s a beautiful bathroom and I’d love for mine or look like that! You’ll have hundreds of suggestions from people but that’s because people’s tastes are so different. You can go crazy shopping for accessories with a bathroom like that and if you get bored just change the colour scheme and have a whole new bathroom. Honestly it looks great.

happinessischocolate · 20/02/2019 19:25

It's love but Id have the walls more of a taupe colour, we stayed in a gorgeous hotel at the weekend which had taupe bathroom walls, and each wall was a slightly different shade, it looked fab.

elfies · 20/02/2019 19:26

Some nice open backed shelves across the window and some beautiful coloured glass bottles or ornaments to give multi coloured refracted light might look lovely

Cheetahssitonfajitas · 20/02/2019 19:28

I'd do the walls in a dark mushroomy colour. Would make it feel like a spa bathroom!

Cheetahssitonfajitas · 20/02/2019 19:29

And a really big fern...

Jaynesworld · 20/02/2019 19:29
  1. The magnolia is the wrong colour for the walls.
  1. You need a window dressing (not a roller blind) either a wooden venetian or shutters.
  1. The big empty wall needs something such as a large print, artwork or shelf.
  1. A decent light fitting.

The bathroom is lovely and so are the tiles and flooring x

Jaynesworld · 20/02/2019 19:31

Oh just seen you have recessed lights...
