to think it hasn't really been a year since Nick died on the Archers?

I mean it hasn't has it?

I feel like the Archers are playing with us...trying to make it seem like time is passing much faster than it really is!

Surely its barely been 6 months at the absolute max?

Thatsnotmyotter · 18/02/2019 12:30

I thought exactly that 😂

M3lon · 18/02/2019 12:32

I think there is a chance they are genuinely playing with our minds...but can't work out how to check without going back through a zillion episodes.

M3lon · 18/02/2019 12:37

NOOOOOOOO!

This is a conspiracy.

I blame Putin.

CheddarAndCrackers · 18/02/2019 12:37

I wondered that! I cried my eyes out at the time and it only seems like a couple of months ago. Confused

Time flies.

TrickyD · 18/02/2019 12:44

I am sorry, obviously, for Will, but I cannot stand his horrible whiney voice.

M3lon · 18/02/2019 12:46

cheddar likewise! I was bawling and it made a real mark on me...which is why I absolutely refuse to believe its been that long. I'd have said October if pushed.

She was a bit too saintly for me, although her final row with Emma was good.

I do hope Mia's accent moderates. Does anyone really speak like that?

NeverHadANickname · 18/02/2019 13:00

Wow, a year! Definitely doesn't feel that long ago.
I miss The Archers. I moved to the US and the BBC iplayer or radio player thing doesn't work here 😥

frazzledmumoftwo · 18/02/2019 17:17

Are you sure you can't get the Archers in USA. We could get it on my iPod when we lived there (admittedly ages ago). I'm not surprised the Radio App didn't work as it is very like iplayer app, but there maybe other routes.

I can't imagine not being able to get the Archers in USA - I wouldn't have liked that at all.....

Thatsnotmyotter · 18/02/2019 17:18

@neverhadanickname You can get it as a podcast!

GruciusMalfoy · 18/02/2019 17:21

No way, has it really?! I could've sworn it was only about 6 months ago too.

Can't you listen to the episodes via the website, Nickname? Episodes are also on Castbox podcast player, if that's of any use

BroomstickOfLove · 18/02/2019 17:25

It has been a whole year. I stopped listening then, because a friend died around the same time as Nik and I found all the grief on the Archers to hard to deal with. And he died a year ago last week.

NeverHadANickname · 18/02/2019 17:28

Well I feel stupid 🤦‍♀️ I can indeed get it from the website rather than the app. I downloaded all the main apps for bbc, ITV, etc before I moved and it said I couldn't view/listen due to the region I was in. I obviously just assumed websites were the same. Thank you all, you have made this day slightly less miserable than it was 😊

Gershwin · 18/02/2019 17:33

I remember missing a train because I was sitting in my car when Shula's first husband died. Now here she is divorced from the next husband.

pattyhoo · 18/02/2019 17:36

@NeverHadANickname get it as a podcast! It downloads automatically so you don't need to remember. It's a highlight for me every day realising I have a new episode to listen to (except saturdays - it should be on every day!).

I can't believe it was a year ago. Proper shocking and so sad I cried.

QuaterMiss · 18/02/2019 17:37

Ahem!

Why are you all not discussing this on the Archers thread???

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3507757-Thread-99-yes-99-Join-us-for-spirited-discussions-of-The-Archers-and-its-Top-Blokes-whether-youre-Team-Elizabeth-low-spirits-Team-Kate-Spiritual-Home-or-Team-Toby-spirits-gin?msgid=84916052

Random, maverick, unrestricted Archers talk puts me all out of sorts.

Angry

( Grin )

M3lon · 18/02/2019 18:10

quater the official Archers thread is far to intense for us casual users. I don't even know half the people's names....we'd get eaten alive in there.

This thread is for people who aren't really certain which of the characters are related to each other....and who can't keep any sort of reasonable track of time obviously...

Eastpoint · 18/02/2019 18:13

Hello you two (or 12)

As a poster on the Archers threads I’d like to emphasise that we are very friendly and welcome lurkers. Do come for a cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sandwich. Or a pint if that’s more your thing.

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 18/02/2019 18:19

Honestly, I'd take early death over marriage to Will Grundy. Whiny, entitled man child.

I've tried on the Archers threads, under various usernames over the years and I tend to get roundly ignored so I don't bother much now!

frenchonion · 18/02/2019 18:29

No way! 6 months ago tops! Where has the last year gone?!!

QuaterMiss · 18/02/2019 18:35

That's a shame Canoe - though I can honestly say it's not deliberate.

(It may sometimes be that new people are prompted to post when something unusually exciting happens - so their posts go unacknowledged amidst a sudden torrent. I dunno ...)

And M3lon - you make a compelling case. Though it's distressing to read that people find the erm ... proper thread forbidding. (As one who's been there from the beginning I feel I bear some responsibility ...)

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 18/02/2019 18:51

No fairweather posting quarter, I'm sure it's not done on purpose but the threads are very cliquey.

Maybe I'll change my name to DadDadDadDad and I'll get somewhere!

M3lon · 18/02/2019 21:14

I can't imagine the real thread taking to my assertion that there is an Archers conspiracy funded by Putin to undermine radio 4 listeners confidence in reality....

OnlyaMan · 19/02/2019 00:27

I listen to the "Archers Omnibus" every Sunday. I am so ancient I have been doing so before many MNetters were born.
It is common for Radio or TV "soaps" to play with real time. Many of the older characters in the Archers (particularly Jo GRUNDY) should really be about 150 years old!
