to think it hasn't really been a year since Nick died on the Archers?

I mean it hasn't has it?

I feel like the Archers are playing with us...trying to make it seem like time is passing much faster than it really is!

Surely its barely been 6 months at the absolute max?

It's scary, isn't it? I know it has to have been at least seven months because I always used to listen to the Archers on my commute home and so I stopped when DS was born, seven months ago!

Incidentally, DS was due around the same time as Pip's baby, and I used to get mildly annoyed that whether she was more or less pregnant than me used to change in a way that was not entirely in accordance with the normal workings of time... However, it's just occurred to me that because in the end I beat her to it (take that annoying Pip!) and DS was born before her child, I don't even know what her baby was called and if it was alright?!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 11:21

Anyone else worried that Mia May have a crush on the Whiney Widower? I don’t think I could cope with the level of cringe.

Lovestonap · 19/02/2019 11:25

is mia may the other one with the annoying west-country-esque accent specifically employed to make the characters seem provincial and a bit thick?
(sometime archers listener here. was impressed with their handling of a marriage ending just because one partner decided she wasn't in love anymore - unusual to see in a soap)

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 11:26

Mia (not Mia May - my phone’s obsessed with Theresa) does have an accent. She’s the preternaturally dutiful 13-year-old.

R4 · 19/02/2019 11:30

I don't even know what her baby was called
Rosie Ruth. Pip called the baby after herself!(it's her middle name). Toby added 'Grace' to the name but Pip hasn't had the guts to tell Jill yet.
and if it was alright?!
Of course it's alright. It's the sainted sprog of the sainted Pip, who is The Future of Brookfield. Everyone dotes on it except, increasingly, Pip who seems to be getting bored of her and would rather talk to the animals

Bouncebacker · 19/02/2019 11:46

I love the archers thread in radio addicts, I don’t post often but I feel there are kindred spirits there.

And if I’d had to have guessed, Nic died in May, latest!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/02/2019 11:46

Adam would be characterised by a mere hint of pandiculation, surely? 'Mere' surely is a valid title but pedantically it should be Mère.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 19/02/2019 11:52

Thanks R4! Mild curiosity now answered.

I do miss the Archers - should start downloading it

ErrolTheDragon · 19/02/2019 11:55

The podcasts I get have a reasonable plot synopsis which is handy if you miss an episode and don't have time to listen, or if you want to check a detail.

thislido · 19/02/2019 12:07

Ahem, we also don’t criticise grammar on the Archers thread! (I was also the one who was unpleasant to a poster who criticised my grammar and I’m still rather embarrassed about it, the being unpleasant, I mean, not the actual error).

MereDintofPandiculation · 19/02/2019 13:33

'Mere' surely is a valid title but pedantically it should be Mère. Not if I pronounce it to rhyme with "dear". And despite my presence here, I don't think of myself as a "mère". Nor as a wife either.

"dint" is de Quincy's. Adam came later.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 16:06

I’m so glad to have an explanation of your UN, MereDint. I’ve been trying to parse it for ages.

M3lon · 19/02/2019 16:13

While we've got the experts in, what happened to Helen on valentines day in the end? I seem to have missed both shots at that episode...

Also what is tuna-bake-gate?

OP posts:
SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 16:17

She burped and the world didn’t end. Lee revealed the not terribly shameful truth about his previous relationship. Helen didn’t mention that minor stabbing incident. Lee’s clearly not smitten enough to Google.

M3lon · 19/02/2019 16:42

hang on....I heard the burp...that was a previous date wasn't it? spring onions? That wasn't this week!

What sort of experts are you! Grin

OP posts:
SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 16:55

The burp was at the Tex-Mex place on VDay, wasn’t it?

Eastpoint · 19/02/2019 16:56

They went to a Harvester and there was a mariachi band. She had a good time & they agreed that he’d cook her dinner at his place for their next date.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/02/2019 16:56

Or maybe she’s always burping. A hangover from all that kefir.

R4 · 19/02/2019 17:40

The burp was at the Chinese.
Valentine's was the burrito con sparklers and a plastic rose.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/02/2019 17:47

Also what is tuna-bake-gate?

Part I - early in their relationship, Helen made a tuna bake which Rob rejected with disgust.

Part II (subtitled, revenge, unlike tuna bake, is a dish best served cold) - Helen makes another tuna bake, yum yum says Rob. Hmmm thinks Helen. He then demands real custard on his desert. Tensions mount and she stabs him. Blood and custard mingle.

Did I get that about right?

R4 · 19/02/2019 18:12

Did I get that about right?
Yes, although there is a complete thesis yet to be written about Fish-based dishes in The Archers and their sinister overtones.

QuaterMiss · 19/02/2019 18:12

Yes, but Pt I was (iirc) worse because they had a phone conversation earlier in the tuna-baking day (he was at work at the mega-dairy) during which she told him what she would be cooking for dinner - and he made approving noises. Then put on the gaslighting performance once he was home.

M3lon · 21/02/2019 13:00

ohhh.....I missed most of the Rob Helen saga on account of it being far too painful to listen to.

I am excited to discover the role of tuna!

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 21/02/2019 13:34

It was one of the first clues that there was something fishy about Rob.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/02/2019 13:34

Sorry, I'd forgotten, it was preceded by the Dressed Salmon debacle.
