Mothercare! What a crock of sh*t!!

I ordered a carseat on Friday and the woman told me it would be there Monday (today) then I said would it be any extra to have it delivered to the house (I would of payed) and she said no. So to my surprise I check the order and it isn't coming till Friday ring the store and she says 'oh if you want it delivery to home it takes 3-5 working days' no apology just says she will ring me back... so now I am without a carseat until Friday as arranged with amazon to pick up the faulty one I have today.

The last time I had a problem was when I was pregnant with DD, I was looking at an iCandy pram wanting to purchase, pushing it round with DM and seeing if my DN fit well in it when a sales assistant came over snatched the pram of me and said 'Someone wants to look at that' very aggressively.... so I went elsewhere

AIBU to complain about the store and those members of staff to head office? They clearly need more training and customer service help.... I will never set foot in Mothercare again or buy online because of them, iv never had one good experience in that store in the 6 years iv been going.

Sounds like it would be a waste of time

bobstersmum · 18/02/2019 11:20

I wouldn't worry, aren't mothercare going bust anyway?

StormTreader · 18/02/2019 11:22

But you didnt ask if it would arrive on the Monday, did you? Just whether it would cost more for delivery?

SubparOwl · 18/02/2019 11:22

I have had a series of bad customer service experiences at Mothercare too. I think as a business they may just be very complacent or a bit behind the times. Overpriced in many areas too.
I'd never use them in future.
By all means make a complaint if you want.

HJWT · 18/02/2019 11:22

@bobstersmum I hope so... shes just rang me back and said ' I did say it could be Tuesday for home delivery' no you didn't at all 🤬🤬🤬

HJWT · 18/02/2019 11:24

@StormTreader
Staff- I can order it now to be delivered Monday
Me- Ok great would it be any extra to get it delivered to home.
Staff- No its still free delivery

This is when she should of said BUT its a 3-5 day delivery wait if delivered to home... But she did not, so now my poor DD is going to have to sit in all week as we live in the middle of no were and its 2 hours on the bus to my DM 😩

My next thread will be 'what can I do at home with DD' 😂😂

Order from amazon for same day delivery?

Sirzy · 18/02/2019 11:26

I dont think it’s complint worthy. When you changed the delivery plan you should have double checked when it would be delivered.

I wouldn’t expect free home delivery for next working day!

TortoiseLettuce · 18/02/2019 11:29

The other day I tried to buy a car seat from Mothercare and the staff had absolutely no clue about the products. First I had to spend ages hunting for an assistant. Then they brought an iPad and looked up the product info on the website - I could have done that myself at home! So I went to Mamas & Papas where the service was excellent and the staff knew about each product and helped me test them. And then I bought my selected product £50 cheaper from Mothercare.

adelias · 18/02/2019 11:30

Cancel it and order from somewhere else

GreenTulips · 18/02/2019 11:32

I brought a double buggy from there wanting the slimmest one available
New shop on a new complex
Couldn’t get it through the door!

They are expensive and clueless

Hollowvictory · 18/02/2019 11:35

They're going broke any day now so have stock supply issues.

BestFriendsWithSky · 18/02/2019 11:39

Mothercare has always had terrible customer service and their clothes are very expensive for what they are. Not surprised they are going bust

Yougotdis · 18/02/2019 11:40

I would cancel for a refund- they are at risk of being bust any day now so you may never get the car seat.

PlumPorter · 18/02/2019 11:44

I think it's probably your responsibility to ask for all the details you need.

It's obvious that, unless a store offers a same/next day delivery, that it's going to take longer for them to deliver it to your house than get it out of the warehouse ready for you to collect. Surely?

SpanielEars070 · 18/02/2019 11:44

That's why God invented Amazon Prime.

Their deliver to store is usually 5 working days at least.

I can see why they are going down the pan - their customer service and quality leaves a lot to be desired. I bought everything for my kids from there but the stuff I've got my grandchildren has been absolute tat. £17 for two pairs of pyjamas that lasted about 3 months and had to go in the bin. Primark is better quality and that's saying something.

PlumPorter · 18/02/2019 11:45

All companies offer 3-5 day home delivery unless otherwise stated. That's just standard isn't it?

DorothyZbornak · 18/02/2019 11:45

Mothercare are completely shit, but they're going to go bust shortly so they don't care.

0hT00dles · 18/02/2019 11:47

I did years ago. A staff member accused me of putting sale stickers on an babygro. I was able to point out that all the babygros had them and they were on the sale rail. And she again said I must’ve done it. So she accused me in front of a shop load of people at the tolls of labeling a load of clothes and moving them. (I was about 8 and a half months pregnant and who would even think to do that!) I went to head office as it was embarrassing and I told them to look at CCTV. Which I had to state in the shop for them to do as well.

I was also able to let head office know that staff where showing people how to incorrectly fit a car seat. They checked cctv and I was right. They really got my back up that day! So I said whilst I’m complaining, retrain your staff!

I went via twitter and got a great response but it’s not a shop I choose to go into anymore.

oh4forkssake · 18/02/2019 11:49

I remember when I was a kid they were really good. Mum used to go there all the time. Sadly, it would appear most of their store and stock has not been updated since then (mid '80s). I avoid at all costs - never had anything decent from there.

gt84 · 18/02/2019 11:53

I really hate this.
I’m sorry you’re annoyed, you have every right to be. When you asked about home delivery, she should have said it takes longer. Click and collect is usually next working day if you order before a certain time (can arrive anytime on that day though)
Please don’t assume that all of their staff are the same though, some really do care about their customers and really do want to give decent customer service.

I really hope your car seat comes sooner than the end of the week. Perhaps call customer services and see if they can push it through any quicker seeing as you were mis-led? Or tweet them/write on their Facebook? If it’s a public post I think they’ll be more likely to act on it. By all means make a complaint but I don’t think it will get very far especially if the sales assistant is going to insist she told you already

AcaiSmoothie · 18/02/2019 11:53

Meh, I used to live in the arse end of nowhere. I put my son in the buggy and got the bus (1.5 - 2hr trip) to nearest town.

Go for a walk with her, play in the garden, visit someone nearer to home. You can't blame m5othervare because you're too lazy to go anywhere without your car and didn't have the sense to check if home delivery would have a longer waiting time Hmm

gt84 · 18/02/2019 11:55

“Mothercare are completely shit, but they're going to go bust shortly so they don't care.”

They’ve shut a load of their stores recently in the hope that they don’t go bust. And lots of retraining in stores staying open. They are really trying, sadly I think they have lost too many customers and don’t keep up with the competition well enough

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 18/02/2019 12:02

I tried to buy a really expensive car seat from them a few weeks ago, staff were so rude and couldn’t give a shit about my business. The woman could barely answer my questions and at one point had a little read of her social media while serving me. I just walked out and bought on line from a different retailer. They get my back up so much.

Margot33 · 18/02/2019 12:03

Mothercare is overpriced with clueless staff. I remember asking if they had something in stock. 'No' they replied. I found loads of them by walking around the shop! 😂
