This last month I’ve noticed these particular two emojis posted regularly, usually on the end of ‘hun’ type nonsense.

AIBU to hate them?

I have to say I love an emoji. It can be very hard to gauge tone through text so an emoji helps with that. I do like to 🙄 a lot!

I get confused by this one 😭
I always thought it meant you’re crying so much you’re so upset you’ve got rivers of tears coming down your face.
But I’ve noticed people use it in a kind of positive way like ‘I got the job! 😭’
What’s that all about? Crying with happiness? Doesn’t look very happy.

I always thought 😭 was "cry me a fucking river"....but like I say emojis always come across as sarcastic when I use them.

It also annoys me that the emoji that appears often looks like a completely different graphic, so you choose plain smiley face and get smiley face with slap cheek 😊☺

I find all face emojis generally a bit rubbish compared to the Mumsnet ones. You can see at a glance what they mean with the MN ones and don’t have to squint to work out if the little face is crying with laughter or what the fuck it means. Especially
