I have a period. Cry me a river. God help me.
But AIBU to not fucking be able to cope with the pain?
Why the fuck do we need to take Nurofen and Paracetamol every fucking month?
Who the fuck died and decided ok, let's torture women for the rest of their lives.
I can't figure out why it could be biologically acceptable.
Bare with me. I'm in pain. Ignore my rantings.

A period ya know. PMSL. Try explaining that to a doctor or nurse.

On a scale of 1 to 10 here, I'm on an 8, but it's just a period. Standard issue pain here. Nothing to see here. IS THERE SOMEBODY I CAN THUMP?

NeverHadANickname · 14/02/2019 03:07

I feel your pain. Mine are usually terrible. Its ridiculous we have to suffer like this every month really, you'd think there would be an answer by now.

WolfhoundsofLove · 14/02/2019 03:10

Get yourself some stronger painkillers for next time. Codeine is good. But see your GP too. It could be endometriosis.

DameIfYouDo · 14/02/2019 03:12

No, I think it's just standard issue period pain. Fucking unfair to allow women to have to endure it.

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 14/02/2019 03:13

This isn’t normal period pain, you need help

IAmNotAWitch · 14/02/2019 03:15

As an added bonus this month I have a ruptured ovarian cyst! And fucking codeine is now fucking prescription only in Australia and do you think I can getting a fucking prescription? Can I fuck. My pain is being "managed" with nurofen, naproxen, paracetamol. Except it isn't.

Fuck.

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 14/02/2019 03:15

I have cramps, not enough to want to blame the world for though, they are uncomfortable for maybe a day. Anything more I would see a doctor

DameIfYouDo · 14/02/2019 03:16

I'd love to see a man experience a period. I'm sorry, but I would just laugh. Not because I'm cruel, but because they can't seem to realise the pain we're in. I think half of them think we're making it up and taking painkillers for the craic! Drama!

OP posts:
NotANotMan · 14/02/2019 03:17

That's not normal period pain. I've never experienced pain like you describe on a period. You need to get that checked out!

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 14/02/2019 03:17

Op I’m sure you are in pain, but right now you just sound angry and irrational. I hope you work it out

DameIfYouDo · 14/02/2019 03:18

If it's any consolation, codeine never helped me with pain. Can't think why they won't give it to you, but it's not a panacea.

OP posts:
Monty27 · 14/02/2019 03:19

You probably need to see your GP. Flowers

DameIfYouDo · 14/02/2019 03:20

I sound angry lol? Good one.

OP posts:
Justagirlwholovesaboy · 14/02/2019 03:22

You do, I’m worried, a period normally gives mild cramping. If it’s leading you to this then something is wrong, have you seen
Doctor for the pain?

DameIfYouDo · 14/02/2019 03:23

Lol, for period pains?

OP posts:
IAmNotAWitch · 14/02/2019 03:27

I have always had bad periods PCOS and Endo.

2 nurofen plus a month would release all the tension and ease it up.

I understand all of the issues with codeine and guidance etc. Am still fucked off with everything.

I don't have time for this shit.

MrsTerryPratcett · 14/02/2019 03:28

I've had period pains like these my whole life and various GPs have found nothing, I got pregnant at the drop of a hat and everything is great.

Except it's horrific. OP, shiatsu massager, hot water bottle, masses of painkillers, peppermint oil and a bit of bloody sympathy from fellow women Flowers

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 14/02/2019 03:30

You are claiming your pain is an 8 out of 10 so yes see a doctor. There can be serious issues to cause these pains. Or you are just posting for some weird attention seeking affect?

adaline · 14/02/2019 03:35

Yes, see a GP!

Bad period pains are often the sign of something else - hormonal imbalances, endometriosis, PCOS and more.

Why let yourself suffer like this every month when you can get help?

Valanice1989 · 14/02/2019 03:39

OP, have you ever tried Naproxen? My GP prescribed it for me and it's really helped to relieve my period pains.

WhereYouLeftIt · 14/02/2019 03:42

Yes! If the pains are that bad, then you possibly have endometriosis. I did. Your GP can prescribe much stronger painkillers than you can get over the counter.

Are you using any non-drug methods? Hot water bottles?

This sounds ridiculous, but took the edge off for me - aerobic exercise. Not easy to start when you just want to curl up and cry, but I'd force myself to my feet and start marching on the spot, work myself up to starjumps, anything that kept my lower body moving. I don't know exactly why it worked - maybe endorphin release, maybe the internal muscles that were cramping got stretched and it lessened the cramp, maybe getting the blood pumping took more oxygen to the muscles and that helped to ease them, maybe it was a distraction, maybe a bit of everything, maybe something else. I just know it helped.

I feel your pain. I'm on Day 20 and awake with the pain. 3 weeks of this joy so far.

I am waiting for an app with a gynae which I have been waiting for for months. I take Ponstan which makes a dent in the pain but only just. I am also very annoyed seething at the unfairness of it all. Iam (probably) irrationally, expecting that the gynae will wave a magic wand and all this will stop instantly. Fwiw in my case it's caused by fibroids. I've had them for years with no issue but for the past year the pain has gotten way worse and the periods non stop. Ugh! Poor us!

NutElla5x · 14/02/2019 03:59

I used to suffer with very bad period pains-so much so that I developed a really high pain tolerance, so breezed through early labour compared to some ( if that's any consolation), but unless you have a really low tolerance to pain yours do sound abnormally bad. As others have said,if your normal everyday painkiller ain't working, see your doctor in case there is an underlying issue.
