I have a period. Cry me a river. God help me.
But AIBU to not fucking be able to cope with the pain?
Why the fuck do we need to take Nurofen and Paracetamol every fucking month?
Who the fuck died and decided ok, let's torture women for the rest of their lives.
I can't figure out why it could be biologically acceptable.
Bare with me. I'm in pain. Ignore my rantings.

I genuinely don't know. I went to the GP in my previous country due to an alarming amount of clots. She referred me for a smear test, US and to gynae. Smear test then and since were both clear and never got to the gynae appointment. Ultrasound also perfectly clear. Which leads me to believe I'm just a big baby and can't handle a bit of pain once a month. Or twice a fucking month in my case!

Could it be menopause? I'm 44?

I hear ya op. It bloody (excuse the pun) horrendous. No way would men cope with this shit

Grace212 · 14/02/2019 16:17

so you had an ultrasound?

my mother suffered with all this more than 40 years ago and her male GP told her to put up with it. Then the GP got replaced with a woman - who ordered scans and found cysts which mum had removed.

she suffered so many years because of the stupid original GP who just thought women had to put up with this.

Sympathy OP, it sucks. And you’re right, there is an expectation that women just need to deal with it, it’s natural.

My periods are absolutely horrific. For 3 days every month I can barely function with the pain and painkillers only really take the edge off. The pain and bleeding is no better on the pill and they won’t give me the combined pill any more anyway.

Progesterone only I bleed constantly (I have currently been on since May!) and offer no real relief either. Plus they make me fat and depressed.

I have been back and forth to the GP too for years like so many others on this thread. I have been fobbed off so many times. I had a scan which came back clear despite being riddled with fibroids and having Adenomyosis. I paid for a private scan which told a very different story but I still had to write an angry letter to the GP to get another referral to gynaecology.

Can you ask for a hysteroscopy? I had one last week and am now finally getting somewhere. I’m on the waiting list for a hysterectomy and it can’t come soon enough.

As PPs have said, mefanemic acid has been a game changer. Speak to your GP about it.
No one should suffer through painful periods.

JingsMahBucket · 15/02/2019 12:43

Honestly this thread full of unsympathetic GPS and gynecologists of the mostly male persuasion just keeps convincing me to always have female doctors. No way in hell would I trust my biology to someone who doesn’t have my same body type.

kikisparks · 15/02/2019 18:42

My ultrasound was clear too, smear fine, all tests fine, and I have endometriosis. The only way to diagnose it is laparoscopic surgery.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 16/02/2019 01:25

Yes it could be the menopause OP

I was 44 when mine began . I didn't expect it that early as I was not an early period starter and just assumed later to start . later to stop .
I have terrible pains to this day in my abdomen and both sides .
