Oooh MN I've ballsed up big time. Have arrived at AirBnB in Fuertaventura after eighty years of travelling and the place in basically in the middle of nowhere with loads of massive hotel complexes but virtually no other life to be seen. We walked for about an hour and found a pizza place where they're showing some trans-universe football final with locals roaring at the telly. Now full of pizza and chugging beer but I feel like a total git for not choosing the accommodation more carefully. DP is prentending he's having a great time. Help - give me your stories!

Name changed as outing.
Milestone bday trip booked v expensively to Northern Norway for a fun packed gastronomic adventure.
Day one: arrived, taken for Sami food experience in a Sami tent. This turned out to be reindeer stew. I’m veggie- my alternative was potato and carrot in salted water. Starving and freezing.
Day two: lovely trip to see birds etc in the archipelago on RIB boats. Veggie lunch option, powdered soup. As we returned, the boat we were on crashed into a newly installed fountain in the harbour, throwing us all into almost freezing water. The other boat turned round and other passengers fished us all out. We had been told that the water was cold enough to kill so that was fun. My life jacket didn’t inflate either...
My glasses came off and were lost forever. I’m as blind as a bat.
Several hours of being warmed up in hospital (lovely staff tbh) and the most welcome cup of tea ever.
Returned to hotel. All v bruised, several properly injured. Late eve by now. Didn’t occur to hotel to feed us till one of the other passengers complained.
Discovered I had broken wrist the next day. Vast, vast plastercast. Spent the rest of the trip being interviewed by police, investigators, etc and having meetings with tour reps. Then had to get replastered with even bigger cast...
Couldn’t fly back early as we had a chartered flight (tiny airport)
No Northern lights as it was too cloudy.
Six weeks in plaster, several weeks of counselling.
I still bloody love Norway though.

Surely having to have counselling to recover from a holiday wins the thread?!
