Sadly I'm working and just want to know what people are up to. Maybe give myself some ideas for next year i dont know really.

We've both put a days holiday in to go for lunch at our wedding venue whilst DS is at nursery for a few hours.
We thought we would use valentine's day as an excuse to spend a few hours alone together as both of us working full time with a 1 year old the opportunity is rare!
Pick up DS, go for a walk in the woods in the late afternoon with a flask of tea and empire biscuits from Gregg's.

DioneTheDiabolist · 14/02/2019 00:35

I will be be doing sleeping for + 5hours, having lunch with my mum in my house, doing single parent admin, coming home to both DC, taking DS1 to judo, probably getting a KFC, checking homework and doing serious politics before bed.

CanTomJonesCloseHisEyes · 14/02/2019 00:36

Nothing. Neither of us like being told when to be romantic. It's a hallmark day.

mydogisthebest · 14/02/2019 08:20

CanTomJones, Oh another sneerer!

We celebrate Valentines NOT because we are told to but because we want to.

We love each other very much even after 39 years together and think it's nice to celebrate Valentines along with our wedding anniversary, the anniversary of the day we met, our birthdays etc.

I really don't know why some people like to look down on the ones that do celebrate unless, of course, they are jealous

Jinglejanglefish · 14/02/2019 08:21

We got the £20 meal deal from Waitrose. Aim to have sex but we’ll see 😂

FlyingElbows · 14/02/2019 08:32

I've got some work to do then a hot date with my dentist. I'll see Mr Elbows later on like I do every day. It's Thursday, all is as it should be. Romance is not for me.

Uptheapplesandpears · 14/02/2019 08:49

Nothing as I've always disliked Valentines Day. Sets my teeth on edge. I agree the schools doing parents evening today are being inconsiderate though, lots of people do celebrate it.

EyUpOurKid · 14/02/2019 09:51

I've got him a card and I let him live here! Isn't that enough!? Grin

We'll save it till tomorrow evening when we'll go mad and have a curry and a glass of fizzy wine, have a shag, watch a walking dead episode and then fall asleep by half 9 Grin

Marmite27 · 14/02/2019 09:51

Watching Disney films in pjs with 2 sick children while being ill myself.

MiGi777 · 14/02/2019 09:59

I'm a single mum and recently had to give up my job to become full time carer for my father (terminal cancer). I have no money all of a sudden and three girls at home (son at uni). We are so happy as a family though and count our blessings every day. This morning the three girls and I had a big hug together and shouted out "Happy Valentines Day-Love Love Love!" And then went about our day happy as usual. It is what it is really!!

ToffeePennie · 14/02/2019 10:03

A normalish day for us (we typically get ice cream on the last day of half term), then when hubby gets home we are ordering a massive Chinese and pigging out!

DrCoconut · 14/02/2019 10:03

Dealing with the next stage of my divorce.

MissCalamity · 14/02/2019 10:08

Nothing, well I have a hair appointment this evening & a plasterer is coming round to do our living room wall.
Never been into Valentine's day, each to their own though.

FreckledLeopard · 14/02/2019 10:08

We're in Bali on holiday so we've spent the afternoon surfing and we're shortly off to an acclaimed restaurant for a romantic dinner. First we're going to watch the sunset on the beach with a glass of Cava! If only all Valentine's Days were as romantic as this one!!

BitchQueen90 · 14/02/2019 10:13

I am single so after DS is in bed I will get into bed and drink wine and eat chocolate.

I was actually never bothered about Valentine's day even when I had a partner.

AyoadesChinDimple · 14/02/2019 10:50

Mince and onions with our tops off and then hopefully some classic intercourse.

NicksWife08 · 14/02/2019 11:00

Going through a very rough patch so I'm staying with my dad at the moment with the children. One currently has tonsillitis and I'm going to take some bits I don't need anymore to the tip.
My lovely dad is cooking us dinner tonight.
Quite a rubbish valentine's day.

Pocketfull · 14/02/2019 11:01

Me and DC are making valentines cookies and heart wreaths this afternoon, no doubt they’ll be jam and a shit load of glitter everywhere.

When DH gets home we’ll put DC to bed at 7.30 ish, after getting drenched by bath water, then we’ll get the dinner on.
We do a 3 course dinner on ‘marked days’ and share the cooking of the courses, I’m on the main tonight and I can see myself ballsing it up.
After we’ll drink Prosecco and watch a film together.

Simple and cheap but it’s good for us.
