I'd love brown eyes. I think they're beautiful, on men and women.

YANBU. My 10YO DS has my eyes deep brown eyes and thick, sweeping eyelashes - I love looking at them.

BlueJag · 10/02/2019 23:29

I've got brown eyes and I find them very boring and not interesting at all. My DH has the most beautiful clear blue eyes and I think they are dreamy.
I had dreams of a baby with blue eyes but no joy. Brown like me 😭😭😭😭

2isabella2 · 10/02/2019 23:33

*@redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 "*Brown eyes looks good on dark haired folk/dark skinned folk. Looks weird on blonde people IMO. (Then again, most blondes are not natural anyway.)"

I'm a natural blonde with dark brown eyes and quite like my eyes! My daughters are also very blonde - one has bright blue eyes and the other hazel - I think their eyes and hair are beautiful and that none of us look weird. What strange things people think!

SmarmyMrMime · 11/02/2019 07:23

It's clearly defined eyes that do it for me.

DS1 has really rich brown eyes framed by lush, dark, long eyelashes. When he's rabbiting earnestly at me about Lego/ Minecraft/ Collosall Squids, I can find myself gazing off into his eyes and getting lost in their depths. Grin

DS2 has more distinctive green eyes. He's still quite fair, but has dark lashes (but not as lush as DS1) and a dark ring that frames rhe iris.

Songs about green-eyed women are very unflattering, usually things like Devil Woman. Hardly Brown Eyed Girl. Sigh.

I used to think that brown eyes were crap compared to my clear blue ones, until I met my DH he’s Chinese and all his family have almost black eye but his eyes are the most perfect shade of amber brown like a clear whiskey colour and our daughters are a rich chocolate brown ringed with blue 😍 so lovely

silkpyjamasallday · 11/02/2019 08:57

DD has the most amazing mahogany coloured eyes, they are so so beautiful and much darker than DP or my eyes. I only recently realised I have mostly green eyes not brown as I thought, I'd never really looked at them in 20 odd years.

OvO · 11/02/2019 09:11

It’s nice to see brown eyes getting some love on this thread!

I have brown eyes and have heard the 'boring' thing many times. Never heard of blue eyes being called boring before.

I grew up with blonde, blue eyed sisters so always felt like the ugly duckling. I have brown hair (often called mousy which is never a compliment!) and brown eyes. People would make a fuss over my fair sisters while I was invisible to them!

One of my DS's has green/brown eyes and the other takes after me with fully dark brown eyes. I make sure to compliment them both!

MrsWillGardner · 11/02/2019 09:20

Mine are brown, kind of hazel. They’re boring!

ethelfleda · 11/02/2019 09:53

I have brown eyes but not a nice colour brown. They’re more of a flat brown than a glossy brown if that makes sense. I was pleased when DS turned out to have blue eyes Grin

BirthdayCakes · 11/02/2019 09:54

Brown eyes are the most beautiful to me!

I can make an exception for the practice nurse I used to see - she was Bengali with blue eyes with orangey/yellow flecks in them - soooo beautiful!

CalvinJohn · 11/02/2019 10:18

I have dark green eyes. Apparently only 3% of population have them. People ( such as the hairdresser) always comment on them.

My large toe is not my biggest.

I'm also ambidextrous, making me odd overall.

Sorry I know it started on eyes but I just thought id throw my oddities in. Grin

sweetkitty · 11/02/2019 10:34

I used to like tall Scandinavian type men with blonde hair and pale blue eyes, or red hair.

My DH is short with chocolate brown eyes and dark hair. I have blue eyes and blonde hair. Three daughters later all have my shade of eyes (one has brown hair, one blonde, one red).

We joke that DH cloned himself for the last one, DS has the most beautiful big chocolate brown eyes and dark hair with gorgeous long eyelashes. People used to stop me I’m the street to comment on his eyes. I’m biased but he’s a stunning boy.

None of my children look like each other though

Heronymous · 11/02/2019 11:12

One thing that’s nice about brown eyes is that they’re rarely freaky looking, whereas with blue you can get that very pale shade that always looks a bit staring / absent. A strong blue is really lovely though, especially with dark hair.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/02/2019 11:15

Yab utterly u

DS has bluey grey eyes and as he is the most perfect and beautiful person to have ever walked the earth then his eye colour must be the best.

Mine are that odd green / blue with bits of all sorts in there. I like them actually, I just wish they were bigger

outpinked · 11/02/2019 11:15

Yes they are lovely. Two of my DC have deep brown eyes and I love them. My eldest has green/grey eyes though which are beautiful. Baby DS hard to tell but I think they will go light brown. I have green eyes which I quite like. The only colour I’ve never been overly keen on is blue.

Ariela · 11/02/2019 12:02

@Drogosnextwife you must be my twin! Always wanted green eyes.
In the 80s when curly perms were the fashion, I spent a fortune in a salon for a curly perm, after 2 weeks had passed the tight curls of day 1 had entirely dropped out and I was back to straight hair, so I went back to the salon and they re-did it only for it to return to straight within days, except it looked and felt awful.
Never had it permed since.

Thehop · 11/02/2019 12:04

Me, DH and 4 DC are all dark brown of eye. I’m fascinated when I look into
Blue or green!!

banskuwansku · 11/02/2019 14:09

I prefer blue eyes. It seems majority have brown eyes. I, dh and dc all have blue eyes.

limitedperiodonly · 11/02/2019 19:27

That's nice to know. That your blue eyes aren't freaky if they are a strong shade and teamed with the right shade of hair.

WTF is wrong with people on this thread?

LilaJude · 11/02/2019 19:50

@limitedperiodonly get a grip! Not everyone in the world has beautiful eyes, why pretend otherwise to a bunch of strangers on an anonymous thread?! The preferences and opinions of strangers aren’t a personal attack on you Hmm

SemperIdem · 11/02/2019 19:56

“Brown” is a bit of a coverall for dark eyes, I think. There are so many shades. Many are beautiful, many you don’t notice. I work with a Sikh man who has the most lovely eyes I’ve ever seen, colour and shape. He is also one of the nicest, kindest people (Male or female) I have ever met. Perhaps that’s why I think he has kind eyes, because his personality shines through.

As a small child, I was surrounded by blue eyed family members, I used to cry because my eyes were green and I wasn’t like them. Or indeed like my dark eyed relatives on the other side of my family.

straightjeans · 11/02/2019 20:12

Not a fan of light eyes. Feels like the person is looking through me, instead of at me.

SemperIdem · 11/02/2019 20:13

Ginger

My partner’s brown eyes (quite light, almost amber in some lights) are quite striking because he’s olive skinned but a natural blond. They really stand out.

Huntawaymama · 11/02/2019 20:40

I rarely notice brown eyes. I've never met anyone with brown eyes that stand out as beautiful. Maybe something to do with the light

My husband has gorgeous hazel eyes, dd1 is blue and while I think they're beautiful they wouldnt stand out to most people. DD2 however has amazing eyes, kinda hazel/amber in the middle and blue on the very outside of the Iris. She's only 7m though so Im not sure if they'll change a bit

VforVienetta · 11/02/2019 20:42

My photo won't upload of my favourite two pairs of eyes; my sons. One light brown with golden flecks, the other darker than dark like staring into a lovely chocolate abyss.
