Just wondering how everyone came up with their nicknames for MN because I do not have the foggiest why I came up with MuddyMoose!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/02/2019 21:10

Line from an Eddie Izzard routine

BringOnTheScience · 10/02/2019 21:11

It was what a teacher said as I arrived at their school with my car loaded with lab coats & other gear.

IDrinkFromTheKegOfGlory · 10/02/2019 21:11

It's a line from The West Wing; my favourite show.

iklboo · 10/02/2019 21:12

One of mine & DH's first dates was going to see Monsters Inc. He said I looked like Boo, but more ikl Grin

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 10/02/2019 21:14

My username is an homage to one of my very favourite television shows called Larkrise to Candleford which aired on BBC 1 in 2008 but I only found 2 years ago on Netflix.

Ms. Lane is a well intentioned meddler who likes to dole out advice and wisdom to her neighbours. She sometimes gets it wrong, but she often gets it right which is why they often come to her for advice and call her "the fount of wisdom". If she were real, I wish she were my Auntie in real life. She's also very pretty and I love the clothes she wears, except her hats. Smile

As far as I know though, she does not have an American cousin, but if she did I would hope that it would be me. I also hope that I give good advice here on MN like Ms. Lane would, although sometimes I think I miss the mark. I am trying though. Blush

DreamingOfCalifornia · 10/02/2019 21:15

I’m Californian. I’m in London. I wish I was home!

DramaAlpaca · 10/02/2019 21:22

Mine came from DS, who was about 4 at the time, making a big fuss about nothing in particular. To distract him I told him he was behaving like a drama llama. He stopped mid flow, looked at me indignantly and announced 'I'm not a drama llama, I'm a drama alpaca!'

Topseyt · 10/02/2019 21:23

It is related loosely to our surname. The name isn't Topsey though.

I do have a cocker spaniel called Topsey, but my nickname, which I use in several online places, pre-dates her.

Clueing4looks · 10/02/2019 21:28

From John Watson’s stag night episode of Sherlock - he and Sherlock get pissed as farts, and when asked what they’re doing at a crime scene, the reply is ‘clueing for looks’

DorothyZbornak · 10/02/2019 21:29

I wanted to be Blanche Devereux but someone beat me too it.

PassTheGinPlease · 10/02/2019 21:32

I was often to be found consuming gin.
I may have to change it though, recently been advised I can't drink anymore as genetic kidney problems have caught up with me.
I shall probably change it to coffee.

iklboo · 10/02/2019 21:34

Ooh I loved Larkrise to Candleford

QuintadiMalago · 10/02/2019 21:35

DramaAlpaca that's a fabulous story, I can just imagine a 4 year old coming out with that.
Mine is a recent name change and it's the name of our house

NaToth · 10/02/2019 21:35

Mine is a character in Babylon 5, which I didn't watch, but OH did - night after night for months.

cardibach · 10/02/2019 21:36

The cardibach is a bit service which (almost) passes my house. Very rural location. Bus stops often a stroll away.

Serenity45 · 10/02/2019 21:36

The name of my favourite spaceship from one of the best sci fi shows ever...and my age...one brings me joy and one depresses the fuck out of meGrin

cardibach · 10/02/2019 21:36

TicketyBoo83 · 10/02/2019 21:41

My nursery school teacher called me Miss TicketyBoo because I didn’t like messy play and could often be found sorting the building blocks into categories 🙈

NoonAim · 10/02/2019 21:43

I loved Lark Rise too, and Paris buns, haven't had one for years.

I changed to this nn because I wanted a noo naim.

Meatbadger · 10/02/2019 22:46

Because who doesn’t love a bit of badger meat.

I’ve no idea actually. I’m vegetarian and find my name slightly repulsive!

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/02/2019 23:00

I'd been gardening all day and was coated in vegetable matter of one sort or another.
