To be offended about being called middle aged

A colleague and I were talking about weekend plans. I told them my plans that I was just going to relax at home over the weekend. He responded with that's what life tends to be like when you are middle aged. I only turned 30 in October while I know I'm not young I'm surely not middle aged just yet?

Do you look down on lower middle aged?

I do, but I look up to upper aged. I know my place.

He’s just calling your weekend plans dull, OP. He doesn’t actually think you are middle-aged at 30.

Personally, I would roll with it and regale him with your trips to garden centres and Women’s Institute macramé circles. Tell him you’re considering a blue rinse and going on the church flowers rota, if your heart can take all the excitement.
