A colleague and I were talking about weekend plans. I told them my plans that I was just going to relax at home over the weekend. He responded with that's what life tends to be like when you are middle aged. I only turned 30 in October while I know I'm not young I'm surely not middle aged just yet?

I think he was joking that you're behaving as if you're middle aged by staying in at a week-end.

My colleague is 64 and keeps describing herself as 'middle aged', until I said, 'what, are you going to live to 128?' I don't think you need to define yourself as middle-aged, elderly or old, but to think you are only half way through your life at 64 is ridiculous.

We tell our 15 year old dd she's middle aged as she likes to snuggle up and watch Midsomer, dresses old fashioned, and gets on best with old people.
