10yo ds is a little bit geeky: and wants to try and fit in a bit with the cool kids. I get that.
He has announced he wants to save up to buy a Tommy Hilfiger top Shock
As a rule I don't like buying named brand stuff unless is particularly for quality but i understand his desire to
Fit in.
What other "cool" brands work for tweenage boys?
Hype is one
Who else
Tia?

Vans and suoerdry. But I am lucky I live near an outlet village!
He is 14

onesiei · 08/02/2019 10:21

I know 16yo boys and they will only really wear Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Nicce, Stone Island, Lacoste, North Face (only ones I can think of), but that's a bit of an age gap so probably not helpful!

vjg13 · 08/02/2019 10:28

IME Superdry does feature a lot.

Herbyvor · 08/02/2019 10:33

Nicce, champion, depends where you live, demographic etc.
Superdry is on the way out according to my lot but I bet it depends on lots of different influences.

Adversecamber22 · 08/02/2019 10:37

At that age it was super dry which at 17 is now totally not happening and when I suggested it he was very much I’m not 13 now Mum. DS now buys stuff online that has no logo at all.

NekoShiro · 08/02/2019 10:48

Adidas, Champion, Kappa, basically all the old sport brands that used to be seen as chavvy have come back around, I'd say Hype is out by now cus I don't really see it anymore since they started selling it in boots at Christmas, Vans and Thrasher seem super in for alternative styles

SaucyJack · 08/02/2019 10:49

Has he got a particular top in mind?

Slightly O/T I’ve just looked at the kids’ half-price sale stuff on the TH website, and a lot of it isn’t ridiculously extortionate when compared to Next or premium sports wear stuff.

I’d only be buying the one top as a treat tho, if I were you.

NekoShiro · 08/02/2019 10:52

Oh yeah and anything by a big designer is super fashionable currently, I'd suggest buying second hand on ebay or depop though

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 08/02/2019 10:52

Nike , Adidas, Soviet, MK

LiveCCTV · 08/02/2019 10:53

Watching with interest. Can you tell me how you pronounce Nicce? Like Nicky? Or Nice (French town) or nice (pleasant)?

steppemum · 08/02/2019 10:58

luckily we also live near an outlet

Nike, Addidas, Jack Wills, Vans

ds is 16. Superdry featured highly until about 2 years ago, not sure if that is age or if they are on the way out

I have found good bargains on-line, but it has to be new, ds won't wear second hand

user1497207191 · 08/02/2019 11:01

We must be lucky to have a DS (17) who really doesn't care. He's as happy in an Asda or Primark top as a brand. Not on his radar at all - must be the group he's in with, perhaps it's just not a big thing with them. The only thing DS cares about are his football shirts - it's got to be the right one, with the right arm badge, etc. As for anything else, they're just clothes!

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 08/02/2019 11:08

As they get older the big named brands give way to more obscure brands. My 20 year old wear B33, crosshatch and stuff from boohoo.
Getthelabel.com is good for named trendy brands quite a bit cheaper than the high stree.

clary · 08/02/2019 11:12

Ds2 is 15 and a big brand wearer.

He has a levis t shirt, a North Face hoody, Nike and Adidas training kit, Nike jacket, Nike rucksack and to be fair that has lasted really well.

Luckily DD is happy in Primark or New Look 😁

SovietKitsch · 08/02/2019 11:18

My 15 year old wears All Saints, Reiss, Topman, FCUK, he even has a few Vivienne Westwood shirts and t-shirts...🙈

My 12 year old on the other hand has a few superdry bits, but mostly can be found in generic joggers and football/rugby shirts, with the odd Converse or Vans sweater thrown in. He basically doesn’t actually care. They are opposite ends of the spectrum 🙈

SovietKitsch · 08/02/2019 11:19

Ah and TK Maxx is your friend here - most of DS1’s stuff comes from there. He’d only have the Topman stuff otherwise!

LoisWilkerson1 · 08/02/2019 11:21

My 16yo DS wears Nike, Addidas, Lacoste, North Face. He has a Superdry jacket for school and black converse trainers. Weekend trainers are always Addidas. He's adamant he won't wear anything else Hmm

Biffsboys · 08/02/2019 11:29

My ds 11 wears adidas, Nike and north face .

Herbyvor · 08/02/2019 12:01

Oh yes, all saints and Reiss is popular here too.

FeedMeBooks · 08/02/2019 12:43

DS age 14 & friends wear Superdry but are not big into brands compared with some. I also buy from an outlet. Jeans any that are not supermarket so currently Next & French Connection (from tkmaxx).

belleandsnowwhite · 08/02/2019 12:57

My DD is 17 and just wears stuff she likes rather than brands. She loves Primark, Miss Selfridge and Zara. She loves All Saints but it is expensive so she doesn't have any clothes from there.

choosingchilli · 08/02/2019 13:00

Nicce and champion very popular with my ds (14)

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 08/02/2019 13:14

9yr old DS is just getting into clothing brands. He couldn’t give a stuff before that.

We spend a good portion of our lives in JD Sports. It’s all Nike, Adidas, Puma, North Face for him. He was after an Emporio Armani jumper but by the time I’d stopped laughing at the price he realised it’s a no go.

Try Sports Direct for a few basics from Nike and Adidas. Got DS some nice Nike slim leg trackkie bottoms in there a wee while ago for a lot less.

cloudtree · 08/02/2019 13:22

13-14 - Vans, Superdry, Jack Wills, Hollister

Villanellesproudmum · 08/02/2019 13:26

14 dd, no logos is considered better taste apparently amongst her and her peers.
