10yo ds is a little bit geeky: and wants to try and fit in a bit with the cool kids. I get that.
He has announced he wants to save up to buy a Tommy Hilfiger top Shock
As a rule I don't like buying named brand stuff unless is particularly for quality but i understand his desire to
Fit in.
What other "cool" brands work for tweenage boys?
Hype is one
Who else
Tia?

North Face, Nike, Bape, Supreme, Ralph Lauren.

NoWayNoHow · 08/02/2019 15:07

In terms of branded clothes, 11yo DS is Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas

And, sometimes, Adidas.

Thank god I can get away with supplementing most of his wardrobe with H&M

ZanyMobster · 08/02/2019 15:53

Posie - there is a sale on A&F website at the moment

ZanyMobster · 08/02/2019 15:54

Someone mentioned Nike socks upthread, Sports direct do those and Adidas socks for a reasonable price. They definitely last longer than other brands and stay nice and thick/padded.

Popfan · 08/02/2019 22:00

My 11 year old DS isn't too fussed but he does like Animal clothing and his friends wear this too. Joggers need to be skinny but no real make at the moment. Nike trainers and their rucksacks for school. He has a small black one for out and about with friends.

magicalmimi · 08/02/2019 22:06

I’ve just bought my DS (11.5) a few things from ‘good for nothing’ that he is very happy with.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 08/02/2019 22:31

Hate this! DS the last (13) is just beginning to want/whinge/yearn for this type of crap.

None of his other siblings gave a monkey's about 'branded' stuff. He is into SikSilk, Adidas and Sonetti.

JD Sports is his Mecca - and I loathe it.

Pieceofpurplesky · 08/02/2019 22:32

Yes to stretch skinny jeans from Primark. North Face is a no no here as DS slightly alternative. Other than Vans and Superdry he loves hoodies from salt rock and a variety of band t shirts (and quirky 80s tv ones)

Femaleassassin · 08/02/2019 22:35

How about telling him brands are a load of bollox and forge his own path and style Hmm

youbethemummylion · 08/02/2019 22:38

11 year old DS says Superdry, Stone Island and Lyle and Scott are out now as all the Dads wear them. He has always been into his sports brands as he plays a lot of sport so Adidas, Nike, North Face etc he also wears somethng that has IL on it I think it is Illusion of London or something like that.

Herbyvor · 08/02/2019 22:38

Hmm here we go. Because it’s always that easy isn’t it.

You just see the smug posts start to creep in on these sort of threads ^oh my dc would never wear brands, they don’t even know what a shop is because they happily wear the outfits I crochet for them and that makes me a better parent than you^’ Smile

Yulebealrite · 08/02/2019 22:44

Adidas, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, champion and Northface here.
And yes to expensive socks - and pants.

Cabininthesnow · 08/02/2019 22:51

Ds18- would wear a black bag he doesn’t care where clothes come from as long as he looks good

Ds14- Hype (but on its way out), Northface, Sonnetti, Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, Nike, Adidas, Lyle & Scott, Superdry
But he’s also happy to pair it with skinny jeans from ASDA, M&S, Topman, New Look etc

origamiunicorn · 08/02/2019 23:08

My teenage cousin spends his life in North Face, Levi's and Vans.

MrsJBaptiste · 08/02/2019 23:16

Kings will Dream, Superdry, Adidas & Nike are 14 year old DS favourite.

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 11/02/2019 14:17

@MrsJBaptiste re Kings Will Dream - can I ask what the sizing is like? I’ve just noticed it on my ds birthday list. I know when I’ve bought him Sonetti and Good for Nothing I’ve had to size up so just wondering if I need to here.

Before I spend £25 on a thin polyester tshirt GrinBlushAngry

Steamedbadger · 11/02/2019 14:22

All Saints, decent quality too IME. It will vary by area/school though.

Loftyswops988 · 11/02/2019 14:39

Vans is always a good shout, or nike and adidas. Don't seem to go in and out of fashion like some of the others. Hype is definitely out I'm told! and small logos where possible, it seems things with branding all over the front are no longer cool (where i am based of course it all depends on where you are!)

SavageBeauty73 · 11/02/2019 14:44

13 year old twins only wear Nike or Adidas. They save up for Ralph Lauren from birthday/Christmas money.

MorningCuppa · 11/02/2019 14:49

Mine wears mostly - Champion, Adidas, Gym King, King wills dream, nicce, 304, Jack wills, topman, some Nike, used to wear a lot of super dry but it seems to be on its way out now.

multivac · 11/02/2019 14:52

How about telling him brands are a load of bollox and forge his own path and style

Ah yes. Well, my 14 year old boy genuinely doesn't care about brands. As long as it's soft, and black or khaki, he's happy, and very confident in his own skin. This, naturally, makes me an awesome parent.

Oh, although hang on, his two-minutes-younger brother wants Adidas, Jack Wills and Nike. He favours Calvin Klein pants. And tried to make me let him spend £60 on a Levi sweatshirt recently. He's much more anxious about being judged by his peers, and whilst he realises the fundamental rip-off that 'brands' are, is prepared to go along with it for social convenience. Which, naturally, makes me a rubbish parent.

I spend the same amount on each of them for clothes. And they know my opinion. It's up to them.

AryaStarkWolf · 11/02/2019 14:53

My son is 14 and he likes Pull and Bear (who are pretty reasonable tbh)

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 11/02/2019 14:55

@multivac you are equal parts awesome and rubbish. Really you need a third child to find out your true parenting status Grin

theworldistoosmall · 11/02/2019 14:56

At the moment the youngest (13) doesn't care as long as it's black.
Siblings just wore what they liked the look of and if it was comfy.

multivac · 11/02/2019 14:58

Ha CouldBe - I'll mention that to Mr Multivac and see what he says... Grin
