a vice. Mine used to be the booze, but I knocked that on the head when I found myself drinking up to two bottles of wine a night. Now it's shopping. I just love to shop,be it for food, stuff for the kids,make-up,clothes,shoes,household goods or anything else. I just get a buzz out of it. What's your vice? Is it something you worry could get out of hand, or do you see it as a simple pleasure that you deserve even if it might be bad for you and/or your bank balance?

Addictions:

Sex, smoking, weed, chocolate, coffee.

Passing4Human · 05/02/2019 19:40

I'm a recovering alcoholic so unfortunately there was that for decades.... but I'm 5 years sober now. Now though it's definitely coffee, diet coke, chocolate, buying endless dog-related stuff. To be honest, the state I was in before with booze no other vice seems that bad by comparison. I will always have an addictive personality though so am wary of that. I know, for example, that I could never gamble. I'd just be hooked.

mumsastudent · 05/02/2019 19:40

information junkie - someone asks a question (like on mn) or family & I start hunting - & tea strong with a wisp of milk - umpteen times a day.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 05/02/2019 19:43

At the moment it's a daft mobile dress-up game. I downloaded it thinking it'd be fun for a day or two and then I'd delete it. A year on and I'm still hooked. Most players seem to be about 13, there's no hope for me.

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 05/02/2019 19:44

Smoking.
Carbs.

Urbanvoltaire · 05/02/2019 19:44

Candy crush
Online shopping whether it's eBay, amazon, m and s click n collect
Instagram - random #searches
Pinterest - mainly tidy houses and gardens
Danish pastries, croissant etc, must have 1 every day by 10 am.
Coffee. As above
Cinema - love going to catch a movie, at least once a week.
Solitude - I'm rarely in the house on my own, but if I am, it's heaven. More a luxury than a vice but I do crave it.

Tupperwarelid · 05/02/2019 19:44

AcrossthePond55 · 05/02/2019 19:47

One woman's vice is another woman's virtue! And thereby I claim that any vices I have are, in fact, virtues.

Disney, Binge-watching Netflix etc, Lay's Honey BBQ chips (crisps), and Brandini Toffee Popcorn. The last two are US based.

AgnesNaismith · 05/02/2019 19:48

Food, wine, shopping.

I hate consumerism and often beat myself up about it.

Kintan · 05/02/2019 19:49

Mine is mumsnet, I spend WAY too much time on here!

SlimGin · 05/02/2019 19:54

Passing4Human congratulations on having that strength to give up the demon booze and for recognising your addictive personality, and not letting that part of you fuck up your life Flowers

Forums
Coffee and treats (chocolate/biscuits)
Utter laziness

I don't drink a lot right now but the day i'm old and I don't give a shit anymore about being healthy i'll be sipping booze in front of the television. All the time.

Thishatisnotmine · 05/02/2019 20:01

Take away coffees. We have small batch roasted beans sent to us every week by a little independent shop and I love noticing different flavours and roasts. But... I love sugary, milky, syrupy, calorie-laden high street coffee. I now have a reusable cup so tell myself its not as bad. I could drink multiple cups every day.

Badbadbunny · 05/02/2019 20:04

Used to be binge-eating multipacks of crisps and chocolate bars. Managed to knock that on the head though, so weight and blood sugar levels have plummeted. So far not replaced it with anything, so looking good!

BrassBellsAndElephants · 05/02/2019 20:08

My bass guitar.

There were 2 days over the Christmas holidays where I didn't get dressed, eat properly or shower because I couldn't tear myself away from it.

I play it for a couple of hours every evening. I've cancelled nights out with real people to stay in and play.

I would rather play my bass than do pretty much anything else if I'm honest.

BrassBellsAndElephants · 05/02/2019 20:11

Oh and tents. I have 4 tents. I can only use one at a time. I have 2, 3, 4 and 6 person tents. I love a good afternoon out at Go Outdoors too.

HazelBite · 05/02/2019 20:19

I like to shop too, even doing the food shop excites me. Occasionally I get a bit carried away and buy something I don’t need and I can’t teally afford.
